Favorite slow fishing lure in grass
Drop shot. That depends on your definition of success. Some gauge total number, others size.

Favorite Football Colors
GP/B&B/PB&J/Craw. A thousand years from now that's still the only colors I will own.

big soft plastic boottails
I fish them differently. A 6" EZ shad to me looks better on the fall and when fished with a little bit of pace. A Hudd is for the slow rolling when a fish that isn't actively feeding just can't pass up an easy meal. As far as weedless a Hudd 68 weedless will go anywhere a T-rigged paddle tail will go.

Brand Loyalty?
I have rods from a lot of the major manufacturers, but most of my rods are Phenix and most of my reels are Lew's. Finances had no impact on this. After a long period of trial and error with many different brands that was what I liked using the most for my fishing style. Those aren't overly popular brands and aren't super high end, but that's not always a factor.

Split Handle Or Full Handle
Split grip. I butt cap in my hand feels way more secure to me when I cast.

Oregon's too, a couple time by the same fish.

Best Flip and Pitch rod opinions?
I run a Phenix Classic Super Flipper and I really like it. It's kind of a wonky design, but it works great.

Soooo many paddle tail swimbaits!!
Two years ago I bought a bunch of Keitechs, Kicker Fish, and Speed Shads. I just dumped them into a big bag. Today I have no idea which is which and shockingly neither do the fish. These aren't Hudds that need extreme balance and ultra soft material. The jig head or keel weight will determine the action.

Shakey head
My favorite worm they dont make anymore, but the Grande Bass air tail works pretty well so far. I like the Megastrike heads personally.

Worst bass miss
Last year I had my only for sure double digit northen stain largie on after three decades of trying. She hit a 7" robo drop shot on the fall out in open water right in the ski boat lane. I got her by the boat, she had other ideas with my 6lb leader. She buried herself into some weeds and worked her way off. Pretty lame.

When you catch a monster like that in a little neighborhood pond it make you wonder what is swimming around in a continent of water like Toledo Bend.

$200 Bottom Bait Rod
I just handled a Dobyns Sierra tonight and that is an extremely impressive rod for the price. I have never liked Gary's rods, but I would fish a Sierra.

Tell me about your best day on the water in 2016
I had a handfull of hundred fish days and a couple really good weight days, but by far my favorite was my oldest son catching his first fish completely on his own.

Why do dark colored plastics catch fish in clear water?
I've been fishing spots in a really clear creek the last month using one type of bait. I have four colors. Two of the colors they kind of check out, one they won't even pay attention to, and one they swim to as fast as they can an inhale it right when they spot it. The one they bite is the most natural looking. It's a "match the hatch thing." Nothing in that creek is solid black, white and flashy, or purple. Green pumpkin and pepper looks like it belongs. I've never believed color doesn't matter, because I've fished enough with other people for the same thing using similar stuff to know it matters. You can find the right color in black, white, green, and purple for the conditions, but they aren't a substitute for each other.

Keitech Custom Leech on a drop shot.

Neko rig
I really like it when I am picking apart a grass/weed area. It doesn't fish anything like a wacky rig for me. It can be a lot easier to fish in wood than a drop shot too. I've always used the weedless finesse hooks from Gammy. It's a great presentation for bed fishing as well. At least for me it isn't a game changer, but just another tool. Get some sheet metal screws and it's a really cheap way to fish.

Caught this in the creek about a minute from my house. It fought like a spot, looks like a largie, but has red eyes. This Tennesee River area is ridiculous. If there is water over a foot deep there is a bass worth catching in it. Not sure why the picture is sideways but you'd rather look at the fish than me so it works out.

Diawa T-wing, better or worse with line to leader knots?
I fish long leaders and mostly Lew's reels. I've never had a problem with it catching at the reel, the eyes are what beats the knot up.
