  1. Yeah that's the lake.It has no public access .Most people don't even know it's there.I started fishing on it when I was 14.Its always been a great bass lake. The record bass is 13 and a half.I fished it nearly every day as a teen.I also used to fish the river a lot esp.70s and 80s in mandarin, julington creek, orangedale and picolata.Used to wade fish a lot back then too in those areas( not julington for wading).Fished a lot for big bream then too.I never really thought much about the pollution then.We used to catch a few that had sores on them.I only fished on your side of the river a few times-won a tournament in Drs lake once.I really enjoyed the wild quality those areas had then. The owls would start near dusk and about that time the gators would come out.Development has changed the lifestyle for sure.I have not fished the river now for a long time .Fished Julington a few times and haven't done good like I did in the 70s.I'd fish it more but have some serious family restraints that keeps me home a lot.I used to fish tournaments all over N FL. at many of the popular lakes of the area.I used to fish Georges lake a lot in Putnam county( not lake George although I fished it in a tournament once)I was surprised that you mentioned the "Scrub" lakes in the ocala forest.I fished (and hunted)there a lot until a few years ago.I liked that area so much that I sold my bass boat and bought a 12 foot Jon boat so I could launch in those backwoods ponds. My favorite is Crooked lake.Used to camp run a trot line, fry up the catfish and sit around the fire and pick banjo. Then get up in the morning and go bass fishing.Hopefully will be able to again soon.Hey thanks for the post!
  2. Thanks.I'd love to but I can't get on Facebook for the time being due to a password problem.
  3. Its on the south side off old kings rd s. In the powers ave Area.I don't think its name is on any map.I grew up on Marianna rd, which runs along it on the other side.Been fishing it for 41 years now.
  4. Anyone fishing the jax. area?
  5. What happened to Hank Parker? I used to love his show.
  6. In the summer, I'd fish early morning and late evening in the ponds.I'd use any soft plastics or live bait and fish areas with the heaviest cover. Also, bait up an area with fish feed ( available in 40 lb bags at feed stores) .Feed them 2-3 times a day if poss.and the minnows will come, followed by panfish and catfish. The bass will start hanging around to feed on the smaller fish.Catch shiners or bream using a tiny panfish hook and small bread ball.(If using bream in Florida you must catch them on hook and line for them to be legal bait)Use a light bronze hook #4 size and hook the bait through both lips.Don't use a cork. You'll know when a bass grabs the bait because he will take it and run.I count to 10 and set the hook. This method should produce well for you any time of year.Hope this helps.
  7. 2015 was one of my best years overall for numbers and size. There were 3 days that I caught over 20 fish and fished mornings only. This year,I caught 13 fish over 4 pounds but only 1 over 6.But hey,No complaints. The 2 things I would like to change in 2016 are that I wouldn't have to fish alone so much, because I really enjoy fellowship with others and it gives the opportunity for exchange of info.and to hopefFully influence each other's lives.I would also like to be able to fish occasionally away from home which I could not do recently due to serious family constraints.I am thankful to live on a good bass lake so I'm OK with that.
  8. If you're in town,let me know and we'll get a trip together.I enjoy having company .
  9. It's private,and gets little pressure.Most days I'm alone on it.
  10. I live on a small lake in jax. Fl.It has great bass fishing.I've fished for bass in most of the famous lakes within an hour and a half away, such as Orange, lochloosa,Sante fe, Rodman. And we have the St Johns river and all of its tributaries. Not to mention all the great salt water opportunities, with inshore fishing ,offshore, along with pier and surf fishing.I am blessed to have been able to do all of these and I can't imagine a place where fishing Could be any better.
  11. Caught 20 this morning on yamasenkos just before the front came in.Bass were starting to bed around Christmas here in N.E Fla.
  12. I live on a 16 acre lake near jax.I caught a 6.3 pounder on Christmas day off a bed that I had noticed several days before. This is the earliest I've ever seen bedding in this lake, and I've fished it for 40 years.
