  1. Yeah , I had a friend show me his drone and watched it fly around and watch the camera out of it , etc. I was telling someone about it and couldn’t for the life of me remember what it was called ( drone). What was extra weird is that he said he knew exactly what I was talking about, but he couldn’t remember the name of it either. We just shook our heads and changed the subject…
  2. But they arent nearly as numerous as the others. You almost never catch a pickeral unless it’s in a little creek out in the woods. . Mudfish are in nearly every natural lake and river but not in great amounts except in the muddiest, shallowest water bodies… We do have a lot of gars , and a relatively small population of stripers in a few of the rivers. White bass are more in Nw Florida. There are relatively few tropical fish like south Florida, it’s too cold for them to be very high in numbers. We do have a moderate amount of some kind of tilapia that I can’t catch, lol. I’m sure there’s something I’m forgetting.
  3. I catch warmouth occasionally. Other that, Ive caught a few bream , a couple catfish, a pickeral and a few mudfish. And a lot of turtles while live bait fishing. North Florida fresh water doesnt have much diversity compared to many places. But we make up for it with huge numbers of Bass , bream, specks, and catfish…,
  4. Got out to George’s lake today. Temps 70s and low 80s A lot of people were actually swimming today in the 70 degree water. We caught 16 , mostly on June bug UV speed worms and a few on Bama bug yum dingers. They were not relating to docks today, but I pulled out several from under pontoons in one canal. I also tried pitching into the thick stuff but nothing there. We tried out Jeffs new depthfinder and found a deep hole with a few fish in it but no bites on crankbaits, rattletraps or big worms fished slow . We caught all the rest of the fish from maiden cane edges. Most of the fish were 12-16 inches. The fish bit better as the day wore on. No big fish but it was good times anyway. Jeff and me have fished together for 45+ years . Couldnt ask for a better friend to fish with !
  5. My mom had gotten pretty close when she passed away at 96. She had almost no short term memory, but had some long term. But she could still play the piano beautifully right to the end , and never forgot my name, my wifes name, and 2 of the grandkids. And she never got frustrated at all with her condition, she would just laugh at herself, which I understand is rare for that condition. She got sweeter and sweeter the more her mind went away.
  6. I use spinning more. I use them for soft plastics, which I fish the most with …I love skipping up under docks with them. I have a dedicated casting set up that is dialed in for spinnerbaits. I have a heavier casting set up that I use for Frogs, pitching etc. And would use for jigs, if I ever fish them.
  7. I use mostly 12 pound trilene on my 3000 and 10 on 2000 .I go either way on the 2500 , usually 12 though.
  8. Well, no luck on snagging the rod yet. I did have a crankbait basically fall apart though.?
  9. @Team9nine Do you have a particular pattern in working the jig? We’ll have a brand new depthfinder and Im hoping we can see the schools of fish and figure out where they are in the water column. I may try a roostertail too. Caught my PB speck on one .
  10. We plan to fish deep holes tomorrow at a lake for bass, but the lake has a lot of specks too. Trying to get a feel for what to use. I haven’t done near as much speck fishing as I have other species.Thought I might do a little speck jigging while dead sticking for bass…
  11. I re-activated a reserve pole already haha… I resemble that remark! I try to keep a dedicated note pad to remember stuff, but then I lose the note pad !
  12. Thanks. Bullheads are so tasty. These were browns, they look like yellows in the pic but the spots faded awhile after I caught them. If anything, the yellows are even better…
  13. Sometimes I feel like the old Wayland Jennings song “ I’ve always been crazy , but it kept me from going insane” haha Never been the smartest tool in the shed anyway…
  14. 61 for a while yet…
  15. I’ve noticed lately I’m not quite as sharp mentally. Losing stuff. Thinking of something I need to do, and forget completely within a few minutes. I did this the other day : ( I think ). It was late afternoon and I decided to bream fish and hoped I could catch a small one to put out on my live bait rod. I did, and not long too long after that supper was ready . So I went in to eat and apparently completely forgot about my live bream out there. Because yesterday I go to do it again and my live bait rod isnt where I keep it. It’s not in my “holding area “ by the back door either, and it’s not on the dock. Y’all can see where this is going. Or where it went I should say… I have never lost a rod like that in my life. Oh, Ive lost a couple rods, but not by forgetting they were there! So this morning I will be trolling the area with a deep diving crankbait and hope to catch it. Im pretty sure some of you can relate !?
  16. The only one I ever caught was on a live finger mullet.
  17. The bullheads were biting tonite… Cant wait to fry em up later in the week!
  18. My PB was caught around 11 A.M. # 2 was caught around 1 pm. The next 3 were all caught in mid afternoon. Ive only caught 1 fish over 7 before 10 a.m. Strangely enough, the biggest bass I can remember catching after 4 pm was 6.3. And that’s probably when I fish the most… Now I have caught twice as many fish then as the other times, including plenty of 4-6 pounders, just not the biggest fish. Go figure…
  19. I thought about boat flipping a couple of fish yesterday but didnt. I did a flip a couple dinks though.
  20. I had heard of them but don’t remember anyone I know ever having one. I had also meant to say it’s also a full cork handle rod, not a split. That’s another feature I was looking for….
  21. No. Im very impressed with it. Agree, it’s almost stressful…
  22. Well , I settled for a Fenwick HMG 7’0 MF. I had wanted a Diesel but the mom and pop tackle store I use sometimes didn’t carry them. The second rod I picked up was the one . Love at first sight. Just Felt right. You know how it goes. So I had to get out and try it. Casts great. Great match with my reel. Just the right sensitivity. When I set the hook on the first decent fish, it was off a laydown, and I had to hoist the fish up out of it. The rod handled it well. As @Catt had mentioned about the Powell diesel rod, this rod seemed to be a medium + . In between a medium and Medium heavy. Soft tip with plenty of backbone. I hooked All the bigger fish that bit, and they werent coming unhooked! Well pegged.!! Well, I appreciate y’alls help very much. I’m very happy with this rod.
