  1. Skipping is my favorite skill in bass fishing. I LOVE skipping under docks. Half the fun is the challenge of the angles , velocity of the skip, accuracy of the skip, it’s just very fun , and a very productive way to fish. I use spinning to skip because it works. Pontoons are my favorite, they are so productive. The bigger and lower to the water the better. If you can get the angle to throw end to end, it often will end up in a fish or two. A good pattern from 10-4 on a warm , sunny day is to just ride from pontoon to pontoon. Docks are nearly as good . The lower to the water the better. Skinny walks to the end of docks aren’t as good. I even skip grass lines for a subtle presentation that won’t spook jittery fish. I also skip structure like lay downs because you can get it back in there where the fish are. My favorite bait is yum dingers or senkos fished weightless or with a little weight if it’s deeper or windy. Flukes are good too. Make the cast , watch the line, I count to 3 and lift. Most often the fish will bite it on the fall or just after it hits bottom. If the line begins to straighten or you lift and feel the tap, set the hook immediately because they will try to wrap around something. It’s an Awesome way to fish. I learned how to do it out of necessity. I liken it to skipping a rock or it’s a lot like throwing a baseball sidearm or submarine style…
  2. Yeah, I dont see how they possibly could call that a fumble. His arm was clearly going forward.
  3. Ive been getting very forgetful lately. So I went to the doctor to get a checkup. I told him I was having trouble remembering things…. He said” How long have you been this way?”…. I said… “ What way ? “
  4. Not justifying it by any means, but they can be frozen and eaten later…
  5. I’m by no means an expert but for a quick fix all you need is guide thread and clear nail polish will do if you dont have epoxy. I just fixed a guide on my favorite rod that way. It looks ok, but is completely functional for this 25 year old or so rod, which is all that matters…
  6. Zoom speed worms Zoom ol monsters Zoom trick worms Culprit worms Producto tournament worms Mr Twister worms Yum dingers
  7. I dont prefer fishing on calm days but I stay with topwater longer if it’s calm. Then I pretty much fish the same as usual: Soft plastics around cover.
  8. Except for “little sweet” I thought he was dead and buried. I cannot STAND those commercials.
  9. Part of their sentence ought to be having to wear a placard describing their crime, and marching up and down a public area for a day. They did that to some people that were caught robbing crab traps in the river. The placards they had to wear said “ Crab Thief “ , and they had to march up and down the main street of the town- I forget how long…
  10. Yeah, the biggest one on record is 3.89 pounds, if I remember correctly. To me, they look more like a smallmouth than a largemouth sub. Not that I know much about smallmouths, lol. Just what Ive seen in books and pictures.
  11. I have done great with T rigs, but have maybe caught 2 fish ever on wacky.
  12. Never bought any of their stuff , but a friend gave me a white 2 inch grub looking thing that was a googan bait. I can’t remember if I caught a fish on it, but it had a nice shimmy at one end as it sank… The one you have is obviously a fluke and should catch fish.
  13. I caught a 2.5 pounder in the Santa fe river using a red shad culprit worm near a cypress tree. Fought like a 4-5 pound largemouth!
  14. I catch most of my fish with hard jerkbaits by just throwing it out and reeling it in. ( Not that I set the world on fire that way either) but I rarely catch any by twitching it and waiting, and repeating. I keep hearing that’s the best way, but it hasn’t been for me. I am trying to improve my jerkbait success this year as I know I’m mediocre at it… I can really only fish treble hook baits from late fall to mid spring, then the weeds get too thick in my home lake in many areas…
  15. Im hoping to get away from home more and go back to some of the lakes I fished as a younger man. Still trying to do better on spinnerbaits. I had fair success with them 2-3 years ago, then nothing the last 1-2 years. Wierd. Im also interested in fishing hard jerkbaits . Ive had a little success with them but seems like I could do much better. I Do great with soft flukes, but not by jerking them, just deadsticking them, or moving them over or around cover and letting them drop. And I haven’t given up on chatterbaits, although Ive never caught a fish on one. I don’t catch many fish on moving baits and would like to.
  16. I really like my nasci. It’s my # 1 reel. Now if I could just learn how to pronounce it…
  17. Ive got 8 ( I think ) bass combos. I’m like you - I generally end up using 2-3 most of the time BUT… the others have a dedicated use and I like to throw them a little if conditions seem right, so they often go along for the ride at least. I never take more than 6 on a trip though…
  18. I love it! That reminds me of the guy on “ Creek fishing Adventures “ that’s in your area…. I just got back to work , but my owner at work gave me an extra paid day off on tuesday because I had worked a couple mornings on 2 days I was supposed to be off. My last post in this thread shows the results of being off that day…
  19. Thoughts and prayers for your wife and you…
  20. Nice fish man !
  21. Im referring to texas rigged plastics: I dont hook fish well if the line is already tight as I set the hook. I keep just enough contact with the fish to know where he’s at and which direction he’s heading. Then, a slight lowering of the rod tip which creates slight slack and then an upward set which brings it tight in the fishes mouth( hopefully) ? With spinnerbaits and moving baits in general it’s already tight when the fish hits and hooks himself. It’s different strokes for different baits…
  22. Me too. I noticed it looked like he caught one there with a white fluke too ( a 5 pounder).
  23. I’ve never had much trouble knowing if I had a bite or not. When I can tell I lift up gently, feel the fish , determine where he’s at, lower the rod tip, and set the hook. So it’s slack, but just barely before setting the hook. If it’s tight it’s too easy for the fish to tell somethings wrong and drop the bait. Or you will pull it out of the fishes mouth that way
  24. Back to the first topic. In the video, he says his main bait was a green pumpkin chatterbait. I’d be hung up in the first 5 minutes fishing the cypress!
