  1. I had the same problem until I found these weedless wacky jigs. They are 3/32oz but I can't remember who makes them. They work perfect!
  2. How do you like the new fk stradics?
  3. I was out 2 weeks ago fishing in 50 degree weather, which is cray for February. A few nights ago the windchill was 25 below zero, tomorrow it's supposed to be 67. It seems like the weather around here is always one extreme or the other anymore. We very rarely have normal weather.
  4. Like I said before it depends on the river, all rock is not the same. There are many different types of structure in rivers besides just weed and rock. There's no way I could get away with using an open hook jig in a tube on my local river.
  5. Pflueger president. What does that have to do with spinning reels?
  6. Who did you speak to at St croix?
  7. I'm sure there are a few st croix reps reading this thread right now and laughing.
  8. I know nothing about the new vw's really, heck I've never even owned a vehicle that was built after 1980. Lol
  9. Hey now... My daily driver is a 78 vw bus
  10. Did you not read the post by someone else that said he too contacted st croix and they said it wasn't the same blank?
  11. So what did the actual company say? And please be specific
  12. Or like playing cards with my brothers kids...
  13. Oh I understand perfectly. Everyone knows pepsi out of a 2 liter bottle tastes like crap.
  14. Before this gets locked... I'd like to say that I think these new mojos are going to be great rods for the price. You already tried that with the pepsi theory...
  15. It depends on the structure you are fishing. A tube rigged with an exposed hook will get hung up very easily in most river situations and can be extremely frustrating. It may work well for you though depending on the structure of the river you are fishing. For most of my tube fishing for river smallmouth I either Texas rig them with an insert weight, or rig them stupid tube style. Google stupid tube if you've never heard of it.
  16. Just saying *you're* wrong doesn't make it so. Why don't you state some reasoning and facts to prove it? You're not spreading any information. You just keep saying everybody is wrong but don't have any facts to back it up.
  17. How will you be rigging the tubes? I wouldn't lump all st croix medium power spinning rods into one catagory. For example I have a 7' medium fast avid and a legend tournament 7'1 medium fast. The legend tournament is definitely a stiffer rod than the avid.
  18. I use a 7'6" medium light avid spinning and 2500 size reel for most of my shad rap fishing. Usually with 10lb power pro braid and a short piece of mono leader just to keep the braid from tangling around the treble hooks. That set up will launch a shad rap with ease even on a brutally windy Midwest spring day.
  19. I think the 7' medium is perfect. I'm not a fan of medium light rods when fishing rivers with snaggy bottoms. I use a 7' medium avid for 1/8oz tubes and it works perfect. 90% of my fishing is for river smallmouth. If you are rigging the tubes weedless I would strongly suggest a medium over a medium light. A medium light just doesn't have enough backbone to get a good hook set with a Texas rigged tube imo.
  20. Nope... I'll gladly continue to buy avids at a higher price. The made in mexico st croix rods frequently have sloppy build quility on the wraps, epoxy, blank straightness, guide alignment, ect... The avids have better guides too. Having said all that I still want a few of the new mojos.
  21. how do you explain the difference in length and power? I suppose you think they just trimmed a little more off the avid blanks. Hahahaha Move on to what? Some people are actually interested in the facts.
  22. Wow. I give up. You've obviously never held both these spinning rods side by side. The power and actions of the two don't even compare.
  23. I don't understand what you are trying to say. I can buy a 7' medium fast spinning made in USA sclll blank from St.Croix and build my own rod with it. Now that blank is the same blank the avid rods are built with. Now are you trying to say St.Croix uses that same blank to build the rage 7'1" medium fast spinning rod?
