  1. just found out a local 127 acre lake has walleye. the lake has lots of docks and a weedy cove and there are several points. how and what should i use to watch walleye
  2. yeah, I've heard one year the deepest part was 58 feet, the next year it was 218 feet deep
  3. this weekend I am fishing a tournament with a friend. We will be fishing on a 60 acre man made lake. I got lots of bites last night (missed a 3.5 up shallow on the wacky rig) when it was 75 and sunny clear skies.today, I had lots of trouble getting anything. I was to lazy to go out in the boat. It was 63 and rainy overcast. The main forage in the lake is bluegill and perch. One side is shallow with semi submerged weeds. Got several bites there. the other side has a deep channel of 8-15 feet. along that bank are boulders. the bottom is mucky and weedy. there are several docks. average bass is 2 pounds. size but not quantity. I need help. thanks
  4. On Sunday, I plan on targeting smallmouth bass in a dammed creek near my house. It is Francis E. Walter Dam. There are very deep spots, the water is semi clear with 4-6 feet of visability (last year) and the bottom is mostly small rocks. along the banks are cliffs and boulders. We are approaching a full moon so I plan on fishing craws. I will use the drop shot, jigs, cranks, jerk baits. Is there any thing i should do to increase my odds of catching smallmouth bass. thanks

  9. im not sure, i got a dig in and I'm going to replace the line soon
  10. what is the best fluorocarbon line for baitcasters and then spinning reels? I am considering spooling my 2500 spinning reel with 12 pound braid to a fc leader.
  11. What are the necessary qualifications for fishing in college?
  12. How can I improve the casting distance of my baitcater? Rod: 7'3" MH F or 7'1" MH F Reel: Quantum Smoke PT 151 6.6:1 Line: 30 pound braid 150 yards or 10 pound monofilament or 200 yards 15 pound copolymer or I can get new line lures: texas rigs, jigs, crankbaits, etc I am really having trouble with my casting distance. I know the proper techniques, but I can't get the bait out there.
  13. I have a Cabela's Tournament ZX 7'0" M XF Drop Shot Spinning Rod, a Cabela's Tournament ZX 7'1"MH F Spinnerbait/Swim Jig Casting Rod, and a 7'3" MH Casting Rod (not allowed to mention brand here). I Have the spinning rod paired with a Cabela's Tournament ZX 2500 size spinning reel. I use 6 pound test braid in clear water or I switch it to 10 pound test monofilament in stained water. It casts any bait from 1/16 to 1/2 ounce really well. This is what I expect it to do. I have been an occasional angler my whole (15 year) life. I recently took a liking to fishing and invested into a Quantum Smoke PT 151 6.6:1 casting reel. I started by spooling it with 200 yards of 12 pound test Suffix Castable Invisaline Fluorocarbon. The reel is a 151 so it is built with a deep spool, which holds lots of line,. When I put the line on it ran out of line when the spool was halfway full. I believe someone scammed the tackle store for a little bit of free line, oh well. I was so excited that I decided to use it anyway and when I got to the lake with my new rod, reel, line, and lure, I backlashed really hard and lost all the line. I owned an Abu Garcia Pro Max reel but traded it in to get the Smoke. This was helpful, because i knew a little bit about baitcasters from the previous reel and some YouTube. So I ditched the stiff fluorocarbon and got some 150 yards of 30 pound test Suffix 832 Advanced Superline on sale at Cabela's. I knew to put 25 yards of 10 pound test monofilament on as backing. But I unknowingly forgot to spool the braid on tightly. I spooled everything else right though. So I get to the lake a few weeks later and I decide to try a frog on the 7'3" MH. I hooked into a six pounder and ended up losing him mid fight (I am new to frog fishing). next cast, my frog gets about ten yards away from me and I backlash hard, later on I realized I had a dig in, as a result from not spooling tightly. I cut the line out and use the 200 yards of 15 pound test P-Line Flouroclear copolymer which I've had few issues with except for abrasion resistance. Round three went much worse. I ended up losing my spool tension knob. I have been having troubled staying backlash free, with before and after the lost spool tension knob. How can I adjust my reel to better suite long casts desired by a bank and jon boat angler? Sorry for the long story, but I think that it is necessary in order to improve my situation. Thanks again!
  14. this place looks dope! good luck
  15. anything that makes vibration or noise. Bass will be feeding with their lateral line and ears more than their eyes. This means you want stuff with rattles or big colorado blades which generate lots of vibration. You don't need to match the hatch because it is at night. if fish are bursting on the surface, start with a buzz bait. if you miss strikes add a trailer hook, than switch to a jitterbug/ popper. lastly a walking bait with a slow retrieve. if the fish are active but not tw hungry use a colorado spinnerbait. or a rattling crank bait. also try a chatter bait. if fish are inactive use a 1oz black/bluejig with a big trailer. try slow rolling a spinnerbait or chatterbait hope tis helps and sorry i didn't care about grammar
  16. I picked up some Storm Swimsuits the other day and i noticed a spray paint type scent. Will this scare fish as it is a strong scent? If so can i mask it with Baitmate or something?
  17. Recently purchased a quantum smoke 151 PT 6.6:1. I also got a 13 rod that is 7'3" MH and a tournament ZX 7'1" MH. I want to get a spare spool so I can have 30 pound 832 Braid and 15 pound PLine flouroclear. Should I get it? Thanks.
  18. Lost my spool tension knob while fishing. Is there any way I can make one myself, I don't want to spend 11 dollars on a new one. I have the Quantum Smoke PT 151
