I canceled my GLX order and went with the NRX for that difference in price.

Man I wonder if I jumped the gun getting the GLX I didn't really look at the deals they had for the NRX's. Another $68 I could have picked one up.

Learn to fish a grub (Mr Twister, Kailens, many different brands) on a small jighead. With all of these other baits it's been forgotten about. Great bait though. I'll second Keitech swimbaits too.

Do the warranties of a high end custom builds correspond to those of high end rod manufacturers?

The more you spend on a rod the more you save. I don't have the information right in front of me but I think if you spend $200 for a rod you save $40. You spend $100 you save $20. Just a guess off the top of my head. That's how it works.

That was for a new GLX on Monster Fishing Tackle website. It was like $108 off the regular price and you can sign up for their mailing list and get $25 more off. No shipping fees or tax. I think that is what made the deal for me.

Any idea why they are blowing them out? Searching GLX's on the Internet I can't find any deals. Over $400 seems to be the going rate.

I don't even know where to start with custom builds. I guess I need to follow the custom forum for a while. This question is probably opinion based but who are the best custom rod builders?

Is that the Orochi XX? What model do you own? Sales clearly drive my spending. I don't think I'll buy another rod at full price.

Bring in your cheapest functional rod. Or a rod you never use. All rods are donated.

OMG I have a Dobyns DX, St Croix Avid X, G Loomis GLX and a Daiwa Zillion all new for this year to fish with. That's quite an offseason.

Good point. I've been a serious bass fisherman for 3 decades but have never built a custom rod yet. Still got some learning to do.

If money was no object and you wanted to buy a rod strictly for the sake of owing one which one would it be. Myself I'm kinda curious to see what all the fuss is over these Megabass rods. I haven't done enough research to know all the different models but I would even take an Orochi XX to give it a try. I see DSG has them on their website. Does anyone know if they usually keep a good inventory in the stores?

I'm a bit late to the party, I own both (but only since Black Friday of 2015). I haven't fished with either yet but by feel I'd go with the DX.

I was pretty disappointed in the selection of rods they had. 90% of it was low level St Croix. They had a little better selection of G Loomis rods but not much. They had a few LTB rods for Croix but most stock was Triumph, Premiere and Mojo rods. Loomis they had a few E6x and a few bronzeback. No IMX, GLX, NRX.

I'm proud of myself I did not spend any money today. Keep in mind I've bought 5 new rods since Black Friday. However I did have to pry a G Loomis E6x spinning rod from my hands. Only because my wife called and asked what I was doing. I really like the feel of it over the St Croix LTB rod.

Those Carbonlite rods are nice. You basically get the reel for free.

You never really said, are you looking for a spinning or baitcast set up? I think alot of people are assuming you want a baitcaster. However, if you want a spinning check out a St Croix Avid X and a Shimano CI4 reel.
