  1. True Story!!! This is a great rod, but if you are looking to spend more on a nicer rod, this ( http://www.kistlerrods.com/p/KR/c-mt-crankbait-fishing-rods/MgCBCGGM70.html ) is the way to go!! Best of luck and good crankin' Thomas
  2. I am hoping to be going, it has been kinda wishy/washy trying to get all the details and everything worked out from my group of guys!
  3. Been doing ok on some structure fishing. Throwing deep cranks in 10-23' and catching em good. They are all 15"-16 1/2", but I did have 2 over 18. Hoping to get out again here in the future
  4. I think Byron Velvick is even luckier, if you know what I mean....
  5. So this morning I was watching FLW Outdoors before work, and I noticed that most the FLW guys: A: Use spinning tackle and light line B: Catch smaller fish C: Usually have smaller winning weights (I know they reset but still over 4 days there isn't much winning weight...) So....... Is it a strategy thing to just get 5 in the boat for the FLW guys and that is why they use light tackle and have smaller weights? Or are the Elite guys that much better? You rarely see a spinning rod in the hands of an Elite pro (with the exception of a few lakes). I am just curious and wanted to see what you guys think? Take care Thomas
  6. CJ is right. I normally have a rule of setting hooks until I get a keeper or the quality size fish i need to win the tournament. One "quality fish" per spot and then I either shake'em off, or look for new water. This can bite you though sometimes.......Back in April, my first hookset on a new spot was on a 7 1/2 lb fish!! Ouch! I got out of there and caught a 5 1/2 lbr durring the tourney, but it was pretty bittersweet catching that fish while prefishing. Good luck on your tourney Thomas
  7. Not trying to Hi-jack the thread, but I too would like to see the answer to your question. Also, maybe someone could explain why shell beds are so productive? Is it just cause they are hard bottom around the submerged grass or what?? Thanks guys Thomas
  8. ME!!!! ;D
  9. Mike McClelland, Football Jig, 15' humps but look out for KVD, if those bass are out on the mainlake grass, he can get'em good with that crankbait, just like guntersville last year. Like you said, this one is anyone's game. It shoot be a sweet tournament to watch unfold
  10. I could do June 21st, but I am not sure about my fishing partner.... I might possibly be looking for a boater if he is not available. I will stay tuned to see what happens
  11. That is an awesome idea!! If I do not have any other conflicts I would love to attend. Thomas
  12. squarebills in the coves man, cover a lot of water, and let a worm soak in those laydowns. I would definately run up Tebo and the Grand arms of the lake! Good luck, post up what happens Thomas
