  1. How well do you do at Shawnee Mission?
  2. s_self88 posted a topic in Fishing Reports
We did pretty well with the post-spawn bass today. Caught them all on jigs and texas rigged creature baits. http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/blackflagged/?action=view&current=sean5-2.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/blackflagged/brian5.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/blackflagged/sean5-3.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/blackflagged/brianbass.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/blackflagged/seanbass-1.jpg
  3. If they are just "hits", don't set the hook right away. Flatheads will sometimes mess with your bait and kill it, and then come back maybe a half an hour later to pick it up. You just have to be patient, and don't get too anxious. They are also shy when it comes to resistance, so if you aren't using a circle hook, use a bait clicker, or leave a little slack in the line.
  4. If you were seeing them over 5 feet long, they were probably alligator gar. Mine, along with the others on that site was a longnose gar. It depends on how the fish are feeding, you just have to experiment. Some people make them out of chuggers, and use them on top. Some people make them out of spinnerbaits, and use a steady retrieve. You can also put them on a jig head, and use them like a swim jig. Just experiment til you figure something out.
  5. The easiest way to catch a gar, is with a rope lure. You can make one on your own. Use about a 6 inch piece of 3/8 inch nylon rope. Take the hook off of a spoon, and fasten the rope to the spoon. Unstrand the rope, and fray it out. The nylon rope actually helps attract the gar. The gar will strike the rope, and get their teeth tangled in it.... no hook required. However, don't set the hook like you would if you were bass fishing, just apply steady pressure to the rod. Here's one I caught on a rope lure, scroll down, i'm the gar master of the week for May 22-28. http://longnosegar.com/longnoser/The%20Masters.htm
  6. Trust me, others were thinking it, I just actually posted it.
  7. How is telling fellow bass fishermen how my trip went in detail being a "drama queen"? I'm not saying it wasn't my fault its missing, infact I could have easily kept it from happening. But it did happen. And I posted it here for the same reason you posted about your really good trip. To get donated equipment out of pity. Fixed it for ya.
  8. The reel was probably the Revo SC, its basically the Revo S, but it has a magnetic brake system.
  9. simile, not smilie
  10. The Falcon Originals are nice rods. I have 4 of the originals, and I haven't had a problem with one yet. I'm getting two of the Lowriders soon.
  11. I met Brent Chapman on Thursday night at the KC sports show. Didn't get a picture with him, but he signed my zoom baits hat. He talked about fishing deep, clear lakes with dropshots and football head jigs.
