  1. Most of the tackle sellers like Bass PRI in Hooksett, most Walmart or a Dick's sporting goods. Biggest selection rage stuff would probably be Bass Pro. Got out on the Nashua River on Saturday as the rain started and went up to the strech around the golf course. Lost 2 shadow raps on submerged trees which was rough. The current up there is brutal in a kayak. Threw my new *** jerkbait and caught a couple of 1 pounders and some other weird fish. I included a pic to see if you guys can identify it. Maybe a white perch?
  2. I laughed so hard at the picture. Took this one at about 6 ish tonight. Uncanny lol.
  3. Where your going to be fishing is gonna play a factor. In general, if temps climb to the 50s next week and hold over a few days I would target shallow areas will quick access to deeper water. Bass will move up with heat. Try throwing a finesse jig for a subtle presentation and a lipless crankbait to search around for the fish quickly. Don't forget jerkbaits too. Good luck.
  4. Went out on the Nashua river from 6 to 7 ish tonight. Got 2 misses on the topwater, Livingston pro sizzle. Threw a jerkbait too, rapala shadow rap in perch color. Caught a nice Pickerel on it, the guy almost swallowed it whole. Couldn't believe it, but I got a crappie on it too.
  5. I know we're talking camera angle but an immediate turn off is the techno music/ smash cut to the biggest fish you caught blowing up on the surface. Not my style personally. But I do like the high rear mounted angle. It gives you a nice view of everything.
  6. We've had some crap weather lately. This week looks like the temps might rise a bit, but who knows. I mean, I'll go out there in the cold and fish it anyways, but if we can get some sunny 50 + again then I think the bite will pick up for sure. Stupid cold fronts. Best of luck everyone.
  7. Always rod above reel imo, unless you are finding yourself throwing reaction type baits almost all the time. In that scenario I could see a great reel being important.
  8. Threw the yak into the Nashua river after the storm moved through. Got 5 of them on a white spook with the feather treble. Most were around 2 lbs. One tough pig came out of the rushes and smashed it. She dragged the kayak and spun it around for a bit lol. Most fun I've had fishing in a while. Got her on the scale and snapped a pic of her and some of the other ones. Quality is kinda crappy sorry, new phone.
  9. I'll speak to the loading part. I have an Ascend FS12T that weighs about 78 ish pounds and my vehicle is a toyota rav 4. I put 2 bath mats ( the ones with the no slip backing) on the rear roof of the vehicle. I then take the kayak and put it ( hull up) on the ground with the end of the kayak dead center about 3 feet behind the vehicle and the rest of the kayak lays at a 45 degree angle of to the side. Then its just a matter of going to the front of the kayak, lifting it up and sliding it over onto the bath mats. Once I have it leaning against the vehicle like that I go to the back of the kayak and lift it up and slide it forward onto the roof racks. Sometimes it will take a bit of wiggling to get it up there, but after a few loads and unloads you will be a pro. Good Luck and tight lines.
  10. I'll echo what others have said, factor in a PFD and Paddle too. Thats like another $200. Do you have a way to transport it too? That can run you some money too. Then your gonna wanna get accessories too and the bill keeps adding up. I just went through this whole process recently and the kayak itself is just one part of what can be a painful purchase, depending on your financial status. that being said, I went with the Ascend FS12T for 599. I've had it out over 10 times and I love it. I can stand when I want to, and I also use it on a river where iIve had to paddle upstream against wind gusts. I can tell you its sturdy and you can get it moving too. Best of luck and enjoy.
  11. Can't be more than 3 ft. When I was stuck bank fishing I always would hit this spot. In the summer they stack against that wall and the point. The water flows through that area to a small waterfall. Always figured that they would park themselves there and let the food come to them. All that said, I was surprised he was there too. I had my jacket on and could see my breath, lol. I was thinking to myself "they probably went back deep with the temp drop".
  12. Squeezed in a half hour at Mill Pond before it got dark. Had one crush the jig on the fall. Threw it right up against the wall, towards the end. Black and purple jig with rattles. 43 °.
  13. Yeah , I'm guessing people get mixed up between " won't catch anything" and " not optimal to catch lots of fish". You can see it all the time if you read or watch videos about specific lure usage. They will say " The topwater water bite doesn't kick in till 60 + temps" or " you gotta use X at this time of year". Its mostly a communication problem.
  14. Went to Flint's pond at sunrise on Sunday and stayed till 830am. Nothing. Left and went to Mill pond. Fished all way up the Nashua canal reservoir to the last bridge. Finally had one smash the finesse jig w/rage craw trailer.the pic isn't great. It's funny because it was a chunky fish and I weighed it and it said 1.65. Tested the scale out at home and the thing was set to kilo grams lol. So it was 3 and a half pounds. Felt real nice.
  15. Thanks for all the info. I went out from Tilton st. this morning about 9 ish, and fished till 1. No luck though. The wind was terrible for me. Gonna try the technology way area next week. I'l report back .Thanks again.
  16. Anyone know where to launch a kayak on the Nashua river to fish by the clocktower? Never been down that strech of the river before.
  17. I keep a journal for the year. I record weather, location, catches and other details. It's great to look at for info .
  18. Yeah it was weird. I came into a little reedy cove and could see some light blow ups on the surface, so I I tied on a small spook to start and got 1 miss. Decided to go a bit smaller, Rebel pop-r, and it paid off. I didn't check the water temps, but I was on the Nashua 2 weeks back and the water was frigid, but that morning i t was just a bit cold. I got to get a thermometer lol.
  19. Got out early, about 6am and fished till 10. Nashua river. Got six, all of them were under a pound. Caught them all on a Rebel pop r. The bite is back!
  20. I would say try the Rapala Husky Jerk. The action on it is very tight and just after ice out that seems to be what they like. I would say go small with your jig, something like a finesse jig. Those Uncle Josh's meat trailers seem to come highly recommended for the conditions we are in. By Friday we will have had a nice solid stretch of 50 degree plus days, so they will probably start moving up, 10 ft or shallower. When you retrieve the jerkbait take a look and see if your bringing in any fresh vegetation/grass. If you are, then try switching up to a lipless crankbait, and drag it through the grass. Best of luck !
  21. Went to Horseshoe pond in Merrimack today. Got there about 8 ish. The shores had ice on them, by about noon it was all gone. Caught nothing but was happy to be on the water. Noticed a bunch of new vegetation growing, so that was encouraging. I also took a drive over to Round pond off exit 8. Fished it for a while and nothing was biting for me. Warm weather coming up this wrek, so maybe that will get them to move up some.
  22. Took a ride by Flints Pond in Hollis this morning. The launch has some a little bit of ice on it. I would say about 10-15 ft out, but the Pond itself has a lot of open water. Looks like a hot streak coming up so we should see some more ice outs soon.
  23. For me it was a hot day in August, I was taking off a torn up senko and went to replace it and my over filled tackle bag spilled all over the ground. I picked up all my stuff, but while I was doing it I saw an old weird colored senko covered in dirt that someones must have left there and let sit there for months. I don't know why but I threw it on wacky and it got crushed on the way down. It kind of struck me that there is a randomness to fishing that you can't always anticipate.
  24. This hits on what , to me, makes Bass fishing so amazing. Regardless of expertise and technique you are still going to have those times when you come home empty handed. There is something so *** about having a factor that is out of your control. It just keeps it fresh for me.
  25. Hows your experience been with Round Pond ? I might try it out this weekend.
