Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Hey Martin I spend most of my fishing time out on the Nashua and I'll echo what Nev has said before- it has a ton of large bass moving around in it. Off the top of my head I'd suggest if you could launch from Mine falls/stellos stadium and head upstream from there you could target a very large fallen tree that's been there for ever. It's just to the left of the main channel and it sits at the end of a long flat that is stacked with fish come spawn/post spawn. If you like spawn time fishing, keep moving upstream from the large tree lay down and target the shallow coves as you head to and by Tilton St. Launch. There is at least 3 on the right side heading upstream that you'll see before you get to a memorial marker located on a small island before the channel splits again. Not sure what type of boat you got, but on a kayak these places are very hot when they're hot. Just those places/section of the river could keep you busy for a season by itself but you can always head upstream toward the golf course and explore some of the arms that head off the main channel. This time of year can be either rough or super rewarding , but it all boils down to getting on the bass, and the season plus it's a river and is different in a lot of ways to lake/pond lmb fishing so it can present some fun challenges. I am actually working on a very detailed map of the the Nashua River that I hope to post soon, just compiling my data from the past few years and adding in some new structure that has found it's way onto the Nashua this year. Sorry for rambling on, hope this helped a little. Good luck

Not a bass, but a good sign I'll be on them soon. Last few years its been Perch to start with, then Pickrel and then the Bass. So at least things are moving right along. Spent a few hours Friday, on the Nashua River, searching around with a jerkbait (Rapala shadow rap).

How do the Huddlestons do up here in NH? I've seen people fishing them online ,but mostly out west coast and sown south.

Should I Give Up??
The first few weeks after ice out up north can be brutal. I scan the bottom alot, making waypoints . The rough days make the rest of the fishing season feel easy. Hang in there, winter fishing builds character.

Well, I went out Saturday onto the Nashua, and not surprisingly it was pretty quiet out there. Didn't expect any thing really, so I wasn't let down. A day of bad fishing is better than no fishing. Spent most of the time running my electronics around the Tilton st. area, heading down towards the dam and going up and stopping near Bartemus Brook. Water temps were at 35. Was nice to get a better look at the river floor, seeing where the drop offs are and I even found some new structures way down deep I didn't even know were there. Got a nice collection of waypoints for spring. Fingers crossed this next storms the last winters got lol.

Well, going to be heading out this weekend onto the Nashua River to check out some spots and run some electronics and see what I can see. I will report back any info I got. Usually start finding Pickerel and the some smaller bass with a jerkbait around this time of year, but we'll see. Anyone ever fish Otternic in Hudson NH? Is it any good?

Nashua River near Hollis
Hey there! I fish the Nashua a lot...lol, probably too much. Also another guy on these forums, Nashua Nev, also fishes it and has a ton of great info. I fish the area up by the golf course a bunch. It's one of the stronger current sections of the river, and I think that's what makes it a nice spot for bigger bass. There's lots of fallen trees and the whole course bends the river in loop which offers lots of spots that break that current which = Bass. As far as a list, not sure but I think you can get an idea on NH Fish Finder, but your mileage may vary. In my experience your going to get mostly Large Mouth Bass, along with plenty of Chain Pickerel, the occasional Perch ( White perch are in there too. I know I've caught em), and definitely lots and lots of Black Crappie/Bluegill/Pumpkin seed and other assorted baitfish. I have seen ( but not caught) extremely large catfish and carp... like dinosaur era ones:) If your in a smaller craft( kayak in my case, or even a canoe) do yourself a favor and bring an anchor so you can hold position to fish. Have fun and let me know how it works out.

Got a few pics from last Friday out on the Nashua River, during the snow showers we had. Got 4 pickerel on the jerkbait, no bass. Went out again this Saturday and the coves and banks iced over again from the storms. Went from Tilton to Golf Course and back....nothing.

Need Early Spring N.E. Tips
I will echo what others have said, go out with one set up- start with a jerkbait because the waters still cold, and work it till you get it down. The youtube videos might help with how to get started using a specific bait, but hands on time with it on the water is how your going to learn the different lure techniques. This time of year is can be so frustrating watching those videos of these guys fishing Texas, Florida, California and we still got 30 degrees going on.

What color is common forage for New Hampshire bass
I will echo what the others have said- Green pumpkin/ black and blue. I have had a ton of success with the watermelon variants like watermelon candy (Yum soft plastic)

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
Thought maybe Sunday was going to be doable, but that wind. I'm working on some more mods for my kayak too. Last year was the anchor trolley and stake out pole. This year I put on a fish finder and I think I'm gonna work on some lighting too. Gotta pass the time right?

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Hey guys. Been away from the forums for a while, just wanted say hey and see how folks are doing. Spent the rest of spring, summer and fall pounding away at the Nashua River and had a blast. Went out last weekend with temps rising to scope out the river. I launched the Yak from Tilton st. and paddled up to the golf course. Main channel was clear, but the last remnants of the ice were hanging on to the shore in places (including a few of my honey holes ) . Got myself some electronics setup this year (garmin striker5) and I'm looking forward to trying the unit out soon. Of course it looks like Temps are going to dip down hard on Saturday (20s for a high) but Sundays looking ok with 40s possible. Heck it beats hanging around the house, wife has a big to do list for me . Here's a couple a good ones I pulled out the river in the summer

Mounts
What style mount were you using originally? Arm style mount over the side or Scupper hole style? I have a striker 5 and from my research it seams that most of the transducer mounts available are designed for transducers that have that one raised mounting hole, which Garmin seems to not use often. Without modding it I think your best bet would be in hull. Kinda stinks though, heard quality can be mixed and water temp is off the table that way. Personally I went for the Ram transducer arm mount and switched out the stock bolt with a longer one and added rubber bushing to fill in space. There's a video on youtube that shows it. Good Luck

FS128T storage help
I've got the model right below yours, the FS12T, and they have long black foam inserts spaced throughout the inside of the hull. See if you can get something like that at a Home Depot, cut to size and secure em with some velcro to inside hull. They work fine for me, although I uses a crate for storing my boxes, I do throw clothes and a food bag in there and have no problems.

Got my new personal best on the Nashua River Sunday during the rain. 5.3 on a Rebel pop-r. He was up against a submergered tree.- Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Pads are really starting to come up on the Nashua River. Been using mostly Rebel pop r and live target frog popper with some success. Hula popper has been great at calling out the big girls. Starting to switch to some hollow body frogs and the new hollow body sunfish. A lot of soft bites happening lately too, maybe it's from the weather cooling down a bit. Nice fish everyone, tight lines- Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Best one I've caught this year. Caught here on a hula popper on the Nashua river on Friday around sunset. Popped it along a shade line and she crushed it.- Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Went out Thursday sunset on the Nashua River and went back to a few good spots. Lost some Rebel poppers to Pickerel but managed a couple of nice Bass. I saw the one in the picture come out of a weed bed and crush the popper.- Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Nice yak! Enjoy it. - Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
