Looking for decent lakes in TN,NC, VA
Thanks to all. The upper Potomac is somewhat dead this year. Never thought about rivers. My legs aren't flexible enough anymore.

Looking for decent lakes in TN,NC, VA
Is that the one on the Tennessee line? I stop there everytime. Like a kid in a candy store. My buddy with better internet found it. I'll stop for the day in Wytheville VA. It's a 6-7 hour drive. For some reason I think I can make it to Bristol but it's a stupid assumption. I'd bypass Wytheville before as everytime it was freezing rain or sleet, more the reason to stop I guess. Thanks this is coming together better than I expected. Oh goose pond...way out of my price range.

Looking for decent lakes in TN,NC, VA
I'll be in the Scottsboro area. Figured a two day trip. One thing you might know. There is an area on I-81 between Roanoke and severisville that for some reason is a energy sucking drive. Only one rest stop. When you get to it you sleep for an hour or two. No exits either. Any idea where? It's kicked my butt three times now. I need to get off for awhile before that stretch. It's worse than I-10 from mobile to Tallahassee.

Looking for decent lakes in TN,NC, VA
I looked Scottsboro up today. It's doing OK now. I'll leave end if September I guess for about 3 weeks total. Depends if I catch fish or a cold I guess. I might have gotten the counties mixed up.

Looking for decent lakes in TN,NC, VA
Covid very very bad. I'm vaccinated but the last time I checked Scottsboro was one of the many Hotspots. Prices on fishing hotels are dirt cheap 55 to 70 a night at fairly nice ones. My buddy who lives 20 min away might have a mild case of it, he's vaccinated but bad health and in the 70s. Plus I'm borderline on the edge of being susceptible. VA ain't looking to good as always, don't know much on TN or western NC. I mainly don't want to get down there and 90% of stuff being shutdown.

Looking for decent lakes in TN,NC, VA
So far I've found 4 hotels. Two are trash dumps borderline drug hotels, one is brand new near Tonu.... something. Did searches near Lake Anna and near Bumpass. So far just one might be worth it a Best Western I think. I know there is nothing on the north shore. VA lakes seem to be like this, same trouble with Smith mountain lake near Roanoke.

Looking for decent lakes in TN,NC, VA
Hey. I was planning on going to Guntersville in October but due to covid I'm reconsidering. Any decent lakes within a 3 day road trip from MD? My only criteria so to speak is 1) Decent and many ramps 2)Fishing hotels nearby under 100/night 3) Decent fishing, anything except carp and maybe trout (trout is to much work on my shoulder). 4) Decent people and not very many on the water during the week(I'm tired of being a leaf in a thunderstorm) I'm towing my little crappie boat with me. Thanks

Air you can wear....go home
I've tried to go out around 5:30 am but couldn't breath well enough to hook up and I was soaked in 4 to 5 minutes. CANADA HERE I COME

Air you can wear....go home
The middle of the dmv. Humidity off the bay, Appalachians stopping it. It's so wet I have to use 4 wheel drive to get in and out to the road. We put 40 ton of gravel down and it sunk in a few weeks. Really did, we had to regrade. It's supposed to go down to 80% next week. Oh... md We use DMV here as a general area Delaware, md, VA. Even have a TV station named DMV. It sucks if you have allergies

Air you can wear....go home
It's been about two weeks with humidity at 95% and above. It rains with clear blue skies and you can hardly breathe. Yall from the south can keep it. I have 2 dehumidifiers running 24/7 to keep my house from turning green. Send it out west

Opinions on minn kota power drive 24v trolling
Well It works. They sent the old board back. I see why they fail. It was "the thing" in manufacturing to make those switches for a few years. I used them twice. They broke very very easily and at that time couldn't be replaced. Minn kota did right by stopping support. I had to redesign both units a year after (the switches got used 100-200 times a day). If I remember right the manufacturer falsified the usage data I never did work with the safety constraints and water constraints that minn kota has. It doesn't look easy. This was the mid 90s. Sort of cost me that job.

Rockfish anyone?
- Visiting Gatlinburg
It's getting there for me. A two day trip to get to Cherokee would turn into 4. There ain't an easy way to get there. Just handling the blue ridge on 81 will be fun. Once past Chattanooga I'm alright( and no I'm not touching that road between Chattanooga and the dam). If my 13' was road worthy I might try it.. not with a 1200lb dead weight.- Visiting Gatlinburg
Thought about it. Nope...if I had a 3/4 ton with a diesel and trailer brakes yes.- Visiting Gatlinburg
@rtwvumtneer6 I'm pretty sure Google will take you to Cherokee on what I think is the great smoky mountain parkway. It goes around to other small towns. If you drive out to a shopping center with a McDonald's or burger King you'll see a sign(kinda hard to miss). Bryson to the right the rest to the left. It's a good drive. If the weather's good check out Bryson and fontana dam for a little while it was clear and worth it. I'd be hesitant to go off the road to the dam as there is very very little traffic and many right angle steep turns also no guard rails other than trees, turkeys, and the occasional bear. Good luck and have a blast. Oh might be a repeat but if your lucky enough to get up the road to clingmans dome look out from the parking lot and you can see fontana. If there is a yellow ring it's been drained down 60 feet. Thanks a lot, now I'm thinking of stopping in late September ...seriously towing a boat ???- Visiting Gatlinburg
There is what seems to be a new big divided highway starting near Johnson city. The scenery was incredible, but lots and lots of weather and incline warning electric signs. I wouldn't drive that road in fog or at night. For some reason the number 26 comes to mind. If the weather, your brakes, and transmission are good I recommend the drive. There is a big elk heard at the NC line. For me it was worth it.- Visiting Gatlinburg
Been through there twice now. Mine would be "OK, I don't get it".- Visiting Gatlinburg
Ahh Ashville a weird NC island in the mountains. No words can describe it.- no wake zones. when people dont follow it
The wake boats that got me were all going slow and maybe 40 feet from shore at best. I never saw one until last week and the first hit beached me. After the intail drop( I was anchored on that one). I now know why people have told me to stay off the Chesapeake. Stay in the feeder rivers upstream. Barges on the bay give off massive wakes that shake 40 footers(and you loose your lunch).- Opinions on minn kota power drive 24v trolling
Well it's supposedly fixed. If it was shipped USPS I'll see it in a month. No matter, it's too hot now anyway and the snakeheads have ruined my electric only lake. I might take it down to Southern MD and try fishing around the old barge wrecks during tide changes. I'll post how the fix went when I see it. Small Place in MN.- no wake zones. when people dont follow it
Well big boat moron season will be over soon. When I get my TM pedal back I'm off to the Potomac. (You have to go under a 6 foot arch to the river). Just small boats and jet skis. Jet skis don't bother me anymore. I'm heavier and bigger with full insurance ?- no wake zones. when people dont follow it
I'm not going anywhere near a wake boat EVER AGAIN. Three 4 foot drops wrecked me. My bad disks are swelled up pinching my leg nerves. It ain't fun at all. It was close and a narrow river close to shore, I didn't even have the outboard running on two of them.I couldn't ride it out and don't have the skill. 90% of my weight is aft of center. If anyone sees a video on it or a boat course on it please forward. 17' bass/crappie boat. I got a feeling I was going to get smacked hard anyway.- no wake zones. when people dont follow it
The autocorrect PC leprechaun modified my three letter response. Yeah I know how to spot them now real fast now. But I know my boat can survive a 4 foot drop. My back...not so much ?- no wake zones. when people dont follow it
I'm learning a heck of a lot every time I go out. I learned if I see a wake boat get out or into a cove fast. I didn't even know they existed until this week. Also ballast tanks I don't understand?????- How expensive is it to own a bass boat?(maintenance related)
The loading solo thing is important. As long as you have a ramp you can do it at. I recently learned the very hard way. River ramps aren't as slippery as lake ramps. I went down hard with no 0ne around, 2 months later I'm still in a brace. It took awhile but I figured out how to load mine alone. It makes going out fishing more of a spontaneous thing than a planned. thing. Yep retired 7 yrs, everyone I know isn't. - Visiting Gatlinburg
