  1. Congrats on the new reel also. Got to play around with the new LT line last weekend they are nice and the ballistic was awsome
  2. Yes it does. Throw some yellow or pink braid on that puppy and put a flourocarbon leader and your good. Won't hurt your catch rate.....might even make it better as now you can see the bite before you feel it. I made the switch to yellow power pro a couple years ago and I will never put green braid (unless it's like a hi-viz green) on my spinning reel again. My suggestion is 15-20lb braid and since it's for a spinning reel get a 8 strand braid like power pro super slick 8, suffix 832.
  3. I don't know like I said I find myself preferring my curados over the chronarchs. I actually moved reels around this year to put the curado on my most used rods that had chronarchs on them last year. I get what your saying but at the same time there's pros on tour that do this for a living that use there companies lower end reels and rods a lot of time some exclusively. Brent Ehrler uses Tatula and Zillion....maybe some steez also but I know I saw him with a Tatula in hand several times last classic. And Edwin Evers uses carbonlite rods and Pro qualifier reels. Probably more pros out there but this are 2 that come to mind. If anyone uses reels enough to appreciate the difference between a $150 reel vs a $450 reel it would be them but they still use and like the cheaper ones
  4. I use 50-65 lb braid on all my baitcasters
  5. I recently sent back a lews custom (The white one) and as I'm waiting for my replacement I was thinking if I should go with the curado k? I would be using it on a flipping and pitching rod so the small compact frame of the lews is what drew me in. I already know I like the curado k and I don't want to go with the curado 70 for a couple reasons 1 the line capacity limits me to just a pitching reel so i couldnt switch reels around if i wanted and I wouldn't use it for lighter lures like some do I just use my spinning gear. 2 with the new curado k out it's only a matter of time they redo the 70 and I hate getting something just to have the newer model come out right after or they go on clearance to make room for the new model while I paid full price. My only concern is the finer teeth on the new curados would that cause an issue pinching on a fish in heavy cover over time?
  6. Do you ever find yourself buying/trying out reels from the same manufacturer and finding that the mid range or cheaper side is the one you like better? I've only found this with shimano for me personally. I have a few curado (I and k) and chronarch g now i know that "high end" for shimano is the metanium, anteres, etc but there is a good price difference between the Chronarch and Curado. I find myself preferring my curados over my chronarchs the more and more I fish them
  7. Ok here's the unrated version. ? 2 Shimano Curado I 2 Shimano Chronarch MGL 2 Daiwa Tatula ct 2 Lews Tournament Pro G 1 Shimano Curado K Shimano Stradic CI4+ Shimano Nasci Not pictured: 1 Lews Custom....She is sick right now lol
  8. Bank fishing- 50# Boat/kayak- 65#
  9. I put some oil on bearings and a little grease on gears seemed to work for a minute then got noisy again if not louder so I sent it back. If this new one is noisy also I'll send it back and just get a curado k to replace it
  10. Thanks guys. I'm gonna put some oil on the bearings and grease the gear via the lube port and see if that helps if it don't I'll be sending it back to TW for another
  11. I could I guess. I got it from TW so I could send it back to them. But I've done that before and when they send exchanges/replacements back they send it USPS and everytime it takes literally 2 weeks to get to me and I can't track it. If I have to I will but I'd rather diagnose it and fix it... it's a pride thing I guess Only lews reel I've ever had do it I have 2 tournament pro g reels quietest reels I own... I've got those, chronarch MGL's and Curado I's and K's, Tatula ct's
  12. Picked up a lews custom reel.... the white one with Winn grip knobs feels great with the super low profile frame. But when I was playing around with I noticed it was making some noise not quite a grinding not quite a scraping sound it was a mixture of both I guess. Any idea what's up with it. I was just gonna lube it up the worm gear does look a little dry now that I think about it but it sounds like it's the spool rubbing something I don't know any ideas? Thanks
  13. That's what drew me towards the Daiwas was the weight. My rod is super light so I was looking for a light reel. I didn't realize how heavy the shimanos were till I started looking around. The stradic is 8oz the Tatula is 6oz. 2oz doesn't seem like a lot until your out to there all day.... it makes a world of difference. Not to mention the balance
  14. I'm looking to get another spinning reel for a rod I just picked up. I've never dealt with Daiwa spinning reels.... I've used there baitcasters. I'm used to using shimano spinning reels but after some research I want to get a Daiwa but I have a few questions. 1. I use the 2500 size reels from shimano and at 8lb test they hold 140 yds why do the Dallas hold 100 yds more in the sam size? Is it just a deeper spool? 2. If I wasn't going with Daiwa and sticking with shimano I was gonna step up in price range from what I have now which is a $100 NASCI. I was gonna go for the stradic ($200). What are the reels you would look at in both price ranges from Daiwa? I was looking at in the 100 range either the exceler LT or the Fuego LT and in the 200 range without going over the 200 mark really it's just the Tatula LT that I see
  15. Shallower water, vegetation.... I can flutter the Mirage drive in shallow water or over top grass I'd have to pull the propel drive for that or I would be cleaning the prop all the time
  16. I'm in the market for a flipping and pitching rod. I would like to stick with my Dobyns, I've used the Fury and Champion lines before but not the Sierra. Is the Sierra worth the extra money? Or is it basically the same blank just better components? I like the champion line but rights now I just can't afford that line from Dobyns Looking at the 7'6" flipping rods
  17. The propel drive will not work for 90% of the places I fish. I my self am a heavy guy plus all my gear the only native I would consider would be the titan for the capacity and width. I know width doesn't mean stable other things like hull design factor in as well but I like a wide area to work with as I'm not a fan of the more cramped feeling I get in the narrower kayaks
  18. I wasn't saying a pedal kayak would make me a better angler I was saying it would be easier and less exerting in the currents and tide changes. As I'm sure most of us love to fish all day when I go out it's sun up to sun down whether they're biting or not. If I am to head out on the sassafras fishing for bass or cats all day fighting current and tides I would much rather do it using my legs.
  19. Yea the great thing about mechanical systems over electric.... cheaper, lighter, less chance of failure, and if something were to fail there's no circuit boards or batteries just replace the worn part. I have a dealer a couple hours away that sells the river stick so it's easy to get a hold of also
  20. I was looking at the river stick if I went hobie. Even with the discount I would get on the power pole the river stick is still much cheaper. How's you PA handle vegetation? I would assume much better then the prop style pedal drives. My thought was it would just push it aside but my assumptions have been wrong many times before
  21. I've been trying to get off the bank for quite sometime now and something always comes up and I have to push it back but this year is the year. I thought I knew what I wanted a while ago but with time to stew over it and new kayaks coming out I don't know anymore. I'm between the Hobie PA14, Wilderness systems Atak 140, and the new Bonafide SS127. What is it you look for in a kayak when looking for one? What are somethings you realized after getting out on the water you wish your kayak had? I'm 5'10" 240lbs. Fish mostly smaller lakes anywhere from a couple feet to 8ft deep with some vegetation. Would like to head out in the river from time to time and make the trek to my spot for cats when I'm in the mood for our whiskered bottom dwelling friends. Plan to start fishing KBF and local Kayak fishing tournaments (mid atlantic kayak bass fishing) likely next year after I've had time to get use to kayak fishing and set up the way I'm comfortable with. I've looked at the Atak for years but then after some thought I looked at the Pro angler I thought horizontal rod storage so no chance of snagging rods on a cast sweet. Pedal system so longer treks down the river or lake won't be as tiring... awesome andi wont have to keep fighting tide changes with my paddle i could use my legs and fish... cool. But the thought of spending that much on a kayak and on top of that I would have to pay more to rig it out... geez. Then the Bonafide comes out not as long as I was looking at not as high of capacity, new company not much known about them so who knows if they are great or will have quality control issues or not. But with all the hype around them it's hard not to pay attention. If I went Bonafide or ATAK I could have the kayak and all the extras to rig it the way I want (depth finder, power pole, anchor trolley for the deeper water, etc) this year and be ready to go full steam ahead. The Hobie I would be able to get that and a way to transport it that's it. Thanks for any and all help
  22. I'm in the same boat... no pun intended I'm between the SS127, Atak 140, pro angler 14. Been looking in the 13ft + range but with all the hype around this Bonafide I'd figure I'd give it a look even tho it's shorter then the other 2 I'm considering
  23. Anyone try the new Bonafide yet now that they are showing up in dealers now?
  24. I'm on the eastern shore of MD. I fish mostly in Kent and Queen Anne's counties Unicorn and urieville lakes is where I do most of my fishing
