  1. Okay, so flipping and pitching, frogs, and t-rigs... Is that it???
  2. What's the spool capacity on this CT???
  3. Okay, so I don't have a Bass Pro Shop, Cabelas or anything like that near me, so I'm about to order a new rod probably from ***... My question is, say if it comes with crooked guides, how serious of an issue is it? Does it affect accuracy or something or should I just not worry about it?
  4. Thanks everybody for your input!
  5. I guess I should haha, but do you mind answering some of the basic questions asked above. They don't have to be detailed. Thanks!
  6. I've fished for Largies all my life and what I here about Smallmouth Bass is that they give a better fight, so I wanna know all there is to know about smallmouths without having to read a ton, because I don't have time. Can you give me the obvious differences between the fish, because I have like ZERO knowledge on Smallies. - Do they bite the same lures? Also, what are the best lures? - Do they make the same movements during season changes? - Are they as shallow as Largies in the Spring/Summer? - Are they structure based fish? (I'm pretty sure they are.) - Also, is baitcasting or spinning gear preferred? (Or does that depend on the lure like for Largies?) I'm really clueless about these fish. Anything would be helpful, thanks!
  7. I'm wondering what jig brands do you guys recommend? A brand with a durable hook and paint that doesn't chip.
  8. 15 lb. Seaguar InvizX Fluorocarbon and 50 lb. Power Pro... Sorry, I should've clarified... I used my Tatula on my friend's rod and it casts overhand really well. My Veritas 2.0 is insanely stiff... Maybe it's just me but I need a lighter rod. It's just more comfortable...
  9. I can cast sidearm perfectly fine, but when overhand casting, since the rod is so stiff my lure tends to go straight into the water and I get a birds nest... I try releasing earlier and casting lightly and more fluently, but it does the same every time. And I know it's not me, cause I used my friends lighter action MH and it was fine casting overhand... My MH veritas feels like and Extra Heavy action rod...
  10. I've heard great things and bad things from just about every rod to be honest haha, but thanks for the info! I'll check out the Fury!
  11. I fish jigs, lipless cranks (only red eye shads), weightless senkos/trick worms all year round, and top water frogs in the summer... I'm looking for a new rod because I have difficulties with my current one and I honestly don't even have enough for 2 setups... So anyways, I have an Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 7'0" rod that's super stiff at MH and while you think it may be good for jigs and frogs, I have a very hard time casting with it, no matter how long I practice. I'm thinking I may sell it and try to pick up a less stiff Duckett Ghost 6'8" MH/F for the same lures. I need a shorter rod because I only bank fish and I'm around a lot of brush... Would a 6'8" MH Ghost be alright for jigs, frog, lipless cranks, and also weightless senkos/trick worms? Would I need to have a bullet weight or something or would it be best to try to pick up a cheap spinning combo for soft plastics? If I could only have one or two rods for those 4 lures, what type, length and action would you recommend it be? Thanks, everyone. UPDATE: I forgot to mention. My rod budget is $120
  12. Thanks, everybody! It is a very stiff MH rod, I'll maybe pick up a more flexible rod soon...
  13. I plan on buy A LOT of Senkos. My question is, what is the most popular color and can you tell me what color "you personally" have had success on had success on, along with the water condition? Like for example, everyone seems to use "black/black and blue" jigs, as well as some form of green pumpkin. Are there specific colors that seem to work well like that with Senkos? I fish some fairly muddy water. Probably 2 feet of clarity at its best.
  14. Are those your only 2 rigs? If so, how's it working for you? Cause I planned on doing that exactly...
  15. But if I'm fishing frogs and jigs, won't that cause a problem?
  16. That's why I'm wondering what's wrong! Lol.
  17. Frogs, Jigs, Lipless cranks.(3/8-1/2 ounces.)
  18. Okay, thanks for the tips. I have loads of electrical tape lying around haha.
  19. I bank fish so I've been using spinning gear my whole life and I've now decided to pick up fishing more and got some baitcasting gear..... I understand how to set everything up with the breaks and tension knob, and when it comes to pitching/flipping/sidearm casts, all is fine, but when I try to cast overhand, my lure will go straight into the water and I'll end up with a huge birds nest... Coming from spinning gear, you kinda rely on your rod flex to fling your lure out there, but I have a pretty stiff MH/F 7'0" baitcasting rod and it seems impossible to cast overhand. I tried casting more lightly and turning up the magnetic breaks, but nothing's working..... Any tips would be great, thank you. Sorry if this is in the wrong thread... UPDATE: I use 3/8-1/2 ounce lures fyi...
