  1. It's been pretty tough, but I did catch a couple 2lbs-ers yesterday. Good old Texas rig with a 6" finesse ox blood. I think the brass and glass helped. Caught a few last week on a jerk bait. Red Dog
  2. I guess I should also preface space. I almost always have a buddy with me and things can get a little hectic with poles every where.
  3. No, just wondering if most folks have different poles for line size and or for lure types and fishing depths.
  4. I currently own a pretty nice spinning reel setup and a decent bait caster. I just purchased a 7'6" medium fast Mojo Bass with a Lew's Tournament spinning reel. I'm quickly realizing my older equipment is pretty much junk. I can only drop shot with them maybe a little top water, but that is about it. I have been buying different lures which are much heavier and I've been looking for fish in deeper water. Changing lures is one thing, but line size has kept me limited. I have already spent about a $1,000 bucks this year on annual passes, batteries, line lures etc. I really need to be prudent and not just buy what I see the more advanced fisherman (wealthy) have. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Red Dog '
  5. Great topic and info. I'm fishing a lake where the pre spawn is not happening yet.. So I started dropping everything I could think of with no luck.at 30' . I could see lots of fish not sure if they were moving or not. A couple of guys came in the cove I was fishing and started pulling up stripers. It's getting harder for me to know where the largeies are. I haven't tried soft swim bait or twin tailed grubs yet. Can't wait to give it a try this s weekend. thanks for the great posts
  6. Had to edit my profile. I meant to say bass Boat..lol I'm newby
  7. I just caught my first two fish on a similar color 4'' Robo "Morning Dawn" One 2 lb. large mouth and a 2 lb. smally on wacky rig. It was at Pyramid Lake with 53 degree water and no bites all year. ' ' ' '
  8. Hello My nick name is Red Dog I'm from Southern California and fish at Cstaic and Pyramid lake. I've had a bass boat now for about three years and have been bitten by the fishing bug "again" I have been reading and watching everything I can to catch more quality fish. My fishing buddies, one of whom is a pretty darn good fisherman only seem to catch fish when fish are biting or boiling. I do have an older fish finder and can locate bass in deeper water, but we only drop shot and use flukes. I am interested in learning how to use different than types of lures. I look forward to accessing folks with more knowledge than my fishing buddies. I would even like to enter a tournament or two. Maybe join a club. Thanks Red Dog
