edbassmaster, I have deteriating disc disease..I have already had four surgeries on my lower back and with my condition my disc wont get better they will just get worse. The surgeon is trying to stabilize my back as much as possible and as soon as possible. I hope your right fishing_fool, My surgeon said that the neck surgery was nothing compared what I had done on my back in June. I just don't like the thought of going through with it again.. I thought that was the only way ;D
  2. Lived in Alabama all my life ,I admit I have the southern slang, slur when speaking and drink cokes, and if not drinking a coke (carbonated beverages) it's called a cold drank.
  3. On one of my previous threads I had to vent about me and my back problems... Well today I just gotten back from an appointment with the surgeon and the News was what I thought it would be.. he recommended surgery on my neck with a fusion. His exact comment("Ive done surgery on much smaller herniations and you definitely need one") I'm not sure when I want to schedule it as there is still some fishing to be done Down here in Alabama. I guess the sooner the better Got to do some serious decision makings.
  4. Congratulations... Your Life now takes on a whole new meaning , May you be blessed with many diapers ..
  5. Dont get me wrong Lady Bass. when I first hurt my back I went to a chrio. for 3 days and the next day I couldnt phyisically walk..Im not blaming as my back was relly messed up and I had floaters, but i just cant get the nerve up to go back to one. :-/
  6. Thanks guys, I appreciate the vent holes.. I just had to get that off my chest. After my last back surgery I was feeling about 75% better than I have felt in 3 years. And then my neck started the troubles just ticked me off. I don't go see the surgeon until NOV. 1st but I can just about know what he is going to say.(got to depress the nerve) Maybe I will be able to fish the spring in less pain is the way im looking at it K_MAC, by any means you did not offend me and I want to thank you for your thoughts and prayers.. It just helps to know that other people understand . Zel, That song is already in my head... Thanks
  7. I just need to vent!! Y'all don't know my situation but here is a short version of it. In Sept. 03 I fell while changing a light bulb over our bar in the kitchen..not a big fall but I tried to catch myself and landed awkwardly and hurt my back and since then I have had 4 surgeries on my back with lots of procedures in between, I had multiple hibernation's My last surgery was March of this year and I had a double fusion in my lumbar region and I have felt the best i have felt in 3 years after the healing, I still cant do the things as I could before, then my neck and left arm started hurting. I let it go as long as I could stand. Finally I went back the the doctor and had a MRI on Friday and I just got results back and I have a large herniation with nerve impingement as well as bone spurs. I'm sick and tired of this crap, doctor this and doctor that. $$$$$ I'm 39 years old and have had 4 surgeries and probably add another one on my neck. I'm rambling and I'm sorry just needed to rant and vent a little, It just gets frustration and to tell you the truth just down right depressing at times.. I have a excellent wife and she understands without any complaints but I feel guilty to put so much on her. Like I stated above I'm sorry if i sounded like a lil whinny a$$ but I just needed to get that off my chest
  8. You know an old fashioned belt spanking would have gotten out the truth of that "boy". But now days that is considered abuse . Once I had every single piece of hunting clothing I own stolen as well as a most of my hunting gear(knives lights etc.) thank goodness I had my archery equipment and guns with me. Thieves are the worst kind of people that walk the earth.. Its just wrong when you work your tail off to have something for some low life to take . I don't think that applies to thieves... I'm pretty sure they know whats theirs or not. If you didn't buy it it's not yours :-/simple and plain
  9. Mine was a 1969 Buick gs..$1300.00 bucks. Got it on graduation night in 1985. That car was awesome.. I traded it for a 19691/2.. 1969 rear end and a 1970 front end from the factory. If y'all know cars this was a keeper and rare. ..yep I sold it too : a week later the guy that bought it totaled it .
  10. hydrillagorilla2, That buck deserves a cold one congrats man. I would like to know the score of the monster.
  11. Things are going to happen beyond our control no matter how careful we handle the situation. Fish one I think will be fine as Chug Bug stated as well as #3. The fish digestive system will rid the hook in most cases. But the Second fish probably will not.. If you get into their gills(lungs) most likely the fish will expire. Jut put them in your live well and make a nice meal out of it is all you can do and appreciate it . Its going to happen but make the most of it and try not to worry as you did try to do the right thing.
  12. I want to thank you for you service for keeping this country free.
  13. It never ends does it JB, I was out getting the boat ready for tomorrow and I noticed the bow running light lens was missing :-?

Here on Lake Guntersville the bass was starting to hit top water around the mil-foil but the little warm front pushed them back deep again.. But this cold front that came throught today should concvince them back up. The Bream is starting to show up around the dying mil foil and the bass is starting to chase them. Thats a start . I want top water bite again 8-)
  15. I love "Olde Towne" Acouple of guys locally makes it. It's an old style English beer and its so good and fresh. But the produced beer I buy is Icehouse or Bud Ice. I love Ice brewed beers
  16. The second best day to a fisherman is the day he gets his first boat.. The best day is the day he catches a fish in it. Congrats, have fun and enjoy.
  17. I choose bass boat but was unsure your description of a 2 seater. Are you talking about those lil bass buggies(for pond or small lakes) or a bass boat/motor.. If you going to fish in a bigger lake I would go for a bass boat, more stable . I was in the situtation you were in a few months ago and looked and looked and finally found what I was looking for. I got one heck of a boat for the money. But you got to look hard and not make any hasty decisions. I got my boat for for $1,300. The boat is structurely sound and the motor is well mantained..but like I said you have to look and hunt and not quick decisions.

  19. I got this off of another forum that im on and it has some good info in it. lots to read though but worth it Awakening a Sleeping Outboard First get yourself a manual, there is a ton of help on this board but to be fair, and so that you can learn, a reference book is a must. They can be found for sale on many sites, a few of which are kencook.com, marineengine.com theoutboardwizard.bizhosting.com, maxrules.com, and iboats.com. Although some folks use Seloc or Clymer manuals, they cover a range of engines and sometimes details are omitted. The reprints of the original OMC manuals are the most specific to your particular engine. Get one of them. If any steps prove challenging or if there are questions about any of the processes, post a question in the applicable forum here at iboats using the red "search" selection at the top of each forum. You will receive an answer from one or more of the many experienced veterans here. Let's get started. Lower Unit Remove the prop and any fishing line that may be tangled, wound around the prop shaft. If the shaft is splined, apply a coat of marine bearing grease to it before re-installing the prop. If an inspection of the prop indicates any damage that could cause a vibration or imbalance, replace it or have it repaired. The rubber bushing securing the hub to the prop itself may also need replacing, but that probably cannot be determined until boat-tested. Remove the drain screw (bottom) from the lower unit and observe the quality of the lube as it exits. If it is milky, there has been water intrusion. If you observe metal shards, there may be gear damage requiring a re-build of the lower unit. If it is empty, there may be other problems. Remove the vent screw (top screw) to allow complete draining. If none of the above mentioned situations exists, fill with lube from the bottom screw hole until lube emerges from the vent hole. Lube should be available from any oil outlet and labeled as suitable for outboard lower units. Note: Electric shift lower units require different lube than manual shift units. Check your manual. After unit has been filled, replace vent screw using an appropriate new screw-head gasket. Then do the same for the fill screw, trying to prevent as little loss of lube as possible. Water Pump Using your manual as a reference, replace the water pump if not the complete pump, by all means replace the rubber impeller. This is absolutely necessary on motors of unknown history or on motors that haven't had a new one in a couple of years. Before re-assembling mid-section (lower leg), see next step. Cylinder Walls If not already, lay the motor so the sparkplugs are up. Remove them and put in a few squirts from an oil can filled with TCW-3 oil. Move the engine around so that the oil will contact cylinder walls. Allow it to soak for a day or two. By hand, rotate the flywheel a couple of times. If it resists rotating, allow to soak longer. When flywheel finally rotates freely, install new sparkplugs. Spark Pull the plug wires from the sparkplugs. Your spark should jump a minimum of a 3/8" gap with a hot thick spark. If it doesn't, you need maintenance on the ignition system. Check the sparkplug cables for cracked insulation. Otherwise, the needed maintenance will be determined by type and year of motor you're working on. Refer to your manual. Replace the spark plugs with the manufacturer's recommended plugs, keeping the old ones as spares. Wiring Check all engine wiring for brittle insulation or fraying. This would necessitate re-wiring or installation of a new wiring harness. Lubrication Lube all moving parts including throttle linkage (white lithium) and steering shaft (chassis lube is OK). Carburetors Remove and disassemble carburetor(s). Soak in carb. cleaner or spray with aerosol carb. cleaner, paying particular attention to all small passages and fuel-ways. Blow dry with compressed air, again, paying particular attention to internal passages. Reassemble using an appropriate carburetor rebuild kit. If kit doesn't include a new needle and seat, get one. If the float is cork, replace it with a plastic one. Some kits include them. If the float is plastic, make sure the integrity has not been compromised. Re-install and link and sync according to your manual. Replace all under-cowl fuel lines. Fuel pump Using your manual as reference, remove fuel pump and clean metal parts with carb. cleaner. Install a new fuel pump kit, or replace fuel pump entirely. Replace fuel filter and any vacuum hoses that may be connected. Fuel tank Replace the fuel line along with the squeeze bulb (OEM bulb preferred). Note: on dual-line tank, there is no squeeze bulb. Drain fuel tank. With a flashlight, inspect for dirt, debris, or rust. If OK, rinse and refill with correct fuel/oil mix. If there are quick release connectors on the fuel lines, check the small o-rings at either end. Replace if necessary. Controls - If remote control, check throttle and gearshift cables for proper operation. Mine were frayed and rusted and had to be replaced.
  20. Yes there is a seal behind the prop.. First I would look at the oil in the L/U to see if water had gotten in there. take off the vent screw at the top of the L/U and slowly loosen your fill screw and look at the oil that comes out. If it is milky white you might as well take the L/U off and check for damage. if no water is present I would replace the seal behind the prop. But First get manual for your motor about 30 bucks or so. That will save you lots of money.. It has me, The best $30.00 I have ever spent. as a good manual will walk you though just about an engine rebuild. If you need a need to know where to get one email me at bamabower1@yahoo.com and I will get you a link when I get to my home puter.
  21. My peeves. My biggest peeve is when we stop at a bait and tackle store and I purchase a certain lure/bait and my non boater SEE"S me buy it and questions my reasoning's and tells me he has never had any luck with them and wants one when I catch a fish on it >. My second peeve is when my non boater clutters my boat up with open bags, boxes, drink bottles, trash and then leaves it in the boat for me to clean up. That only happens once tho, there is no second chance for another invite. Other peeves in no particular order. getting in my tackle without permission, bringing another non boater without permission, messing with my boat(especially playing around with my depth/fish finder, Almost bottomed out because my non boaters son playing with it), pick up and use my rod when I switch too another one, least but not last not paying attention to their surroundings.
