Fishing in the Rain
I get super excited when I see rain in the forecast, I always do the best in the rain. I'll usually use a popper and pop it really aggressively. If that doesn't work out then I'll resort to a crank bait for clear water and a chatter bait if there is some stain. I find that the bass are really active in the rain and I always keep a topwater out for schoolies.

Finesse Spinning Outfit
Thanks for the suggestions, I think I will go with the St. Croix and then look into the reels a little more.

Best crankbait rod for 50$
I use a St. Croix Mojo Bass, a little more pricey though. I think it's like $100.

Finesse Spinning Outfit
I'm looking for a good finesse spinning outfit that won't break the bank. I'm hoping for something in the $200 range. I've looked at ***, Dobyns, and St. Croix for the rod. I have no idea what reel or size of reel to get. (I will mostly use this for dropshot and shaky head). I would be very thankful for your suggestions. Thanks.

Bizzare
In the same weekend, I saw ospreys grab schooling bass from the water and a hawk grab a squirrel from a tree.

Fishing a Blueback Herring Lake
The reservoir that I fish in is usually crystal clear and it is a blueback herring lake. For those who do not know what that means, it means that the fishing can be very tough because the main forage is herring. Even the pros during the Bassmaster Classic in 2008 and 2015 struggled, except for local Casey Ashley. Ok so enough preface, the main reason that I am posting this thread is that I really want to get into jig fishing. The baits that usually work for me are crank baits, spinnerbaits, senkos, and flukes in clear water. And then chatterbaits excel in muddy water. I fished a swim jig for a little bit and caught one striper and a bass. But in my mind I don't consider that to be jig fishing. What kind of head styles/colors/weights would you all recommend for this type of situation keeping clear water and herring in your mind. (I have had fish cough up crawfish before). Thanks.

First Flippin' Bass
- First Flippin' Bass
I came to the light! I caught my first flipping bass today on a V&M J-Bug. I had a pegged 1/8 oz. weight and a 3/0 mustad grip pin hook. And it was a dandy spotted bass.- Lizard Questions

- Weekend Help Needed
The weather man is calling 30's in the night, and yes the lake is Hartwell. The senko bite has not seemed to pick up yet, I've had success on a weightless pink worm over beds. I'm just worried that the fish will get lock jaw. They were almost in full on spawn, do you think they will move back onto points and shoals chasing bait?- Weekend Help Needed
So last weekend I caught tons of bass on chatter and spinner baits. The water was starting to get into the upper 60's and I was really getting on a good pattern. But, this week the high is in the 50's and the lows and in the 30's. The water temperature is going to drop a TON this week. I have a tournament that starts at 6:45 on Saturday and I'm worried about the bite. Should I stick with the chatter and spinner baits? Or should I got slower and more finesse? The lake is a herring lake so the bass can get picky. Oh and it is supposed to be 40's-50's during the tournament. I hope I can get some help, thanks! - First Flippin' Bass
