  1. I'm not a biologist or anything but bass school up because of the sound, (not a signal from one bass to another but the sound from the bass feeding) the baitfish noise and so on and so forth, that's why hydro waves are so effective. so with that being said they don't really communicate between each other in forms of feeding so why would they communicate danger? They are all loners in my opinion, yes they do school up like mentioned before in this topic but not in a sense that other pack animals do, they aren't hunting together, they are hunting for themselves. The food source is just more abundant in that particular area and the food source is schooled up, therefore it narrows the location of the feeding bass to a pack!
  2. As far as this topic goes, just remember that each lake is slightly different. I live in an area in between two major lake systems and they are very similar. However the bite changes dramatically with the weather on these lakes. And both of them on most days go in different directions. So like Sam said be attentive to whats going on where you are fishing. Try different techniques, different depths, lure profiles, colors, scents, and more. But take this next piece of advice and it will change your performance on the water dramatically. Stay on top of the fish, have you ever fished a spot and just smoked them one day? then you come back a few days later, fish that same spot but dont get a bite? maybe the weather is a little different, cooler or warmer, sunny or overcast. The thing is the weather probably didnt shut them down completely it just staged them in a different area of the water column, learn to find those fish that you know are already there. Then write down where they were and where they moved to and document the weather changes along with those bites. after building a journal like that, and studying it you will be able to adjust to the weather by knowledge of how those fish act. It will become second nature. Good Fishing and God Bless.
  3. My friend "That Guy" is my sub partner that fishes with me when my other partner cant make a tournament. He is an outdoor writer and is a solid fisherman, but every time I pull up to a mat to punch grass it seems like he has to go through every rod box and storage compartment in my boat, I have no idea what he is looking for but he will be slamming boxes left and right. It drives me crazy. But a good friend none the less.
  4. It's on the back of the unit not the screen. Thanks for all the help everybody, rookie mistake on my part. but we live and we learn. Good fishing and God bless!
  5. This is the time of year where I fish that I want to be throwing a lizard. I use a strike king rage tail, 6" The color I use is based on water clarity, weather, etc. and If they are biting a lizard. I am going to have a weightless rig tied on my spinning rod to skip docks, the biggest fish I have ever caught have came from skipping a big lizard under docks. But make sure you pay close attention to the fall thats when most of your bites will occur. As far as retrieve goes like said before try different retrieves. the fish will tell you exactly what they want. Pay attention to every bite you get and if you come to a piece of cover that you think you should have gotten a bite, throw back in there a couple or more times a piece with different retrieves. Good Fishing and God bless.

  7. Ok guys and girls. I have tried almost everything and I need some outside advice. During my tournament saturday the sun got high and I needed some sunscreen, I had some spray on sunscreen in the storage compartment so I sprayed some on. Long story short my lowrance hds 12 touch looks like a splatterback crankbait now. Any advice on how to get this stuff off?
  8. If at all possible, I would go with a power-pole micro. I know you were looking for cheap but in the long run you would be better off getting quality.
