Career as a Fisheries Biologist
Anyone know if Lane still visits here? I was in the same boat as Fat-G, and Lane helped me a ton.

Pro staff question again
I have a few very close friends that are sponsored by Strike King, and Strike King is very good to them. Although they had a better attitude than basspro96 (sorry, but you can't "just quit"), I wouldn't ever completely rule it out. He said, "school has taken a priority." Yes, he CAN just quit. And rightfully so. Probably one of the more intelligent choices he could make. Original comment I based my response off of: If he did in fact drop his sponsors for school, then like you said, good call.

Well......
To each his own. With past sponsors and current sponsors that I am working with, I have sent a resume stating my passion for the sport and how it developed, my tournament history (generally, this is listed material), exposure, what I can do if this company were to sponsor me, and then contact information. Besides tournament history, almost all is written in paragraph form. I think communication plays a key role in representing a company, and if you simply cannot demonstrate those communication skills on paper (AKA: a list), then what makes you think they're going to want you to represent them at a seminar, boat show, or any other potential sale for that matter? lynyrdsky, I think you're on the right track. I would definitely not leave out school achievements, just don't get too focused on them. Like you said, I would also not get into any details about what you want in return, as that will be done at a later date. I know this from personal experience, and I am very good friends with a few owners that stand by this. If they are interested, they'll call. Like I said, this is what has worked for me. It may be different for others, but I feel that this is the best way to pursue potential sponsors. Good luck!

Costa Del Mar Hammerheads
I have some Hammerheads, they're the white with blue mirror lenses, and I love em. They're super comfortable. Have been everything and more that I expected from them. Just don't let them fall off the top of your head...That happened to me. Cracked a lens, cost me $60 to fix.

If you could ask Bobby Lane one question
What's the very first thing you do when you get to an unfamiliar body of water? Do you run around looking at the graph? Start fishing and covering as much water?

Possibly getting a 788ci
I've been combing this section about this topic and have found a lot of great info. I still have a question though: I'm wanting to get a 788ci for the boat this season. Ideally, I'd love to have it up on the bow and have the big 1198 back on the counsel, but just don't have that kind of money right now. So I'm wanting to know, would a 788ci DI be worth it to put on the counsel? I'd love to have the SI, but that's too much for me. What do you guys think? -hope I'm making sense here.

Just watched...
Restrepo for the second time. Guys, if you haven't seen this documentary, it's a must see. I believe it was played on National Geographic the first time I saw it, but I just watched it again on NetFlix. It's pretty real footage from the Korengal Valley, that shows what those guys were dealing with. Anyone else seen it?

BIG winter storm in Midwest
Oh man, I love that. I keep moving in the snow, but I have a 4x4 pickup - much different than a heavy SUV. All the 4wd in an SUV does is get you up your driveway. Ford Exploders are the worst offenders, too, LOL. I'd rather have the SUV actually, pickups are too light in the rear to get good traction. I feel like I shouldn't have to put the car in 4x4 just to back down the driveway without spinning the wheels because of a little snow or ice, and in my mom's Explorer I don't. Can't say the same for either of my dad's pickups ('98 f-150 and 2011 Silverado). That said, I'll take my AWD Subaru in the snow over any of them. Just keep a ton of snow in the back to weigh it down. Helps me out. I don't have those issues with my Sierra. Maybe its the tires? More weight = greater stopping distance. Same here. My old Sierra didn't have any problems in the snow.

Get a Grip
If you really are performing well at a good level, then you shouldn't be worried about what the sport SHOULD be doing for you in return; you should already be taking advantage of what the sport has to offer. In other words, if you think you deserve something, you probably don't deserve anything.
