  1. Bomber Long A in Firetiger if the water is a bit dirty. Inexpensive and has been around a long time.
  2. Let us know if the above works or the eventual outcome. Interested in the issue and fix.
  3. SK KVD 1.5 - several bluegill/bream patterns. I favor the one that is just "bluegill".
  4. bama craw and summer craw
  5. Shallow to deep also... KVD 1.5 XD3 XD5 XD6 (My son schooled me earlier this year, he picked 13 bass while I got two on two other brands of crankbait. Been using Strike Kings ever since.)
  6. 30 plus years in waders - could not imagine neoprene on skin. Clammy sticky staff infection breeding ground. Yuck. For ducks, neoprene over khakis, thermals under that if cold enough. Boot foot. For trout, breathable ones, orvis has a mid range set that aren't too pricey and worth the step up in quality. Khakis underneath with insulated socks. I'd do the stocking feet and a good pair of felt soled boots (rubber soles = drowning victim in the Appalchians). Warm water bass / bream in creeks (and trout in July / August)... Skip the waders, shorts or whatever. Dave

SK - crankbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits, buzz baits. Plastics = Zoom.
  8. I have to get the flatter ones also due to astigmatism. I currently have a set of Randolph Engineering aviators. They give good overall coverage and are durable. A bit of leg work as you can't walk into a local store. Mainly via the internet. Sounds scary but there is a pretty big market for prescription shooting glasses and Randolph Rangers are a popular model of shooting glasses. I spent just a bit more but if you out a set of them next to the Ray Bans they are a much more durable frame. (Relevant with my prescription = thicker lenses).
  9. I read the response about rocks not moving differently and here is why... Last fall I decided to figure out the jig thing and committed to spending at least an hour each weekend fishing a jig. So one afternoon I was fishing a long a bank with lots of rocks / laydowns, just dragging along / swimming the jig getting the feel of it working along bumping into this and that. This was a places that I would normally work a crankbait or slow roll a spinnerbait. Whenever I hit a distinctive piece of structure I would cast the jig right back in and rework the jig into it just to get a good feel. A few times I wasn't able to reconnect with the structure. About the third or fourth time a lightbulb went off and I realized that this sensation / feel was just a bit different and wasn't "repeatable". The next time I felt "it" I set the hook and it was a nice two pound spotted bass

Just wanted to drop an intro prior to engaging any posts. Have been fishing nearly 40 years but spent most of the last thirty years chasing trout in the mountains of east TN. For several reasons my wife and I bought a weekend house on Weiss Lake in NE Alabama last summer so I've been relearning the bass thing. After 30 years of tying & fishing small flies lets just say a big Ole jig & pig is well, uh, different. Have been enjoying the heck out of it though.
