  2. Want to hear feed back from boat owners that live on the Great Lakes. I live on the St.clair river and a stone throw form Lake St.Clair. Really looking into buying a bass boat and wanted to know the pros and cons of running/boat control on the big water.
  3. Thanks for all the input. I should have specified more this was for a spinning rod. I will be going with an Avid because they dont offer the 7'6" ML in Avid X. Thanks again for the feedback. Tight Lines everyone
  4. Last two are my Favorite days fishing though. A triple header, plus caught an action shot of my buddy and his dad on the release after a double header.
  5. 7' MH Mod With Revo SX #8 Seaguar and a Bagley Wake Bait - Only pic I have on my computer Will post another pic or two tomorrow! Tight Lines People!
  6. Solid all purpose rod if you ask me. Id put a 7 speed reel on her spooled with #15 flour and use it for texas rigged swimbaits, buzzbaits, rattletraps and, chatterbaits. Tight Lines and Heavy Bags
  7. That is a steal. If it the new Mojo series even more of a steal.
  8. 1- I have caught smallmouth on a big DT16. Throwing bigger baits gets bigger fish. Best techniques for me are: Jerk baits Drop shot Grubs 4"/ & swimbaits 4-6" on a roung jig head, Big pre rigged swimbaits.(for trophy smallies) Tubes, deep diving plugs to square bills, spinnerbaits, rattle traps, hairjigs and the spinbait 80. 2 - you`ll have to doresearch on the body of water you will be fishing. 3 - I have caught smallmouth in August on a 4ft flat. (30 ft or so was the drop off) But I only fished the flat. 4 - If you find an isolated rock in smallmouth water. Cast around that and you will more then likely catch a fish or two. Smallmouth are here today gone tomorrow fish as well. So finding them is the name of the game. Pretty easy to catch once you find them. 5 - I use both. Like you said, it depends on what you`re throwing. Another thing to remember Smallmouth rely on their sight to feed first. So keep that in mind when choosing colors. My Go to Color is firetiger. When that don`t work I throw something translucent. Hope this gets you going in the right direction. Tight lines and heavy bags!
  9. Looks like it wanted it! Remember smallmouth are visual predators. They will come up or come or from a long way to eat a jerkbait.
  10. I have used and had the most success with these baits in order. 4" white tubes(any brand), 10" zoom trick worms 3.75" field & stream sugar shot, 3.5"dropshot minnows Big Bite Baits and, 5" field & stream senkos. All fished with a 12" or longer leader with a 1/2 ounce wight to make sure I stay in contact with the bottom. I feel that is the "deal" making sure the weight stays on the bottom. I also use a small octopus hook #6 (not sure on size but, small).I nose hook tubes and all minnow profile baits by going the the middle of the nose through the top. On the worms and senkos, I just simply wacky rig them. Tight Lines and heavy bags.
  11. Make sure you put it on straight. If you put the jig head too far left or right with cause the bait to spiral. Most swimbaits have a line on the back where the mold comes together. Try having the hook pop out on that line for the best action and for it to run true. Hope this helps you.
  12. 23" smallmouth did not get the weight, scale was missing, but she measured an even 23" I know Shame on the straight arm. Still Biggest Bass I ever caught. My guess is was an easy 5lbs + as I have caught and weighed plenty of smallies in the high 4`s With this guy blowing them all away.
