  1. I know this isnt the area to place a wtb ad so Im sorry in advance. I would like to know if anyone would be kind enough to sell me a logoed weigh bag?. Ive seen the National Guard bags, Berkley bags, etc. I know there are some serious tournament fisherman on this site and hoped someone could help me out with my odd request. PLease PM me if you have something in good condition without any leaks. Thank you, G
  2. I was able to try a Tierra rod my friend owns and I was extremely surprised at the sensitivity and the balance of his set up. He had a Quantum PT on it and it looked great and fished even better. I would have no reserves recommending this rod to anyone. I use many high end rods and I thought the Tierra was just as good as most all of them. Get one, Im sure you will be happy with it. G
  3. Can anyone get ahold of a red Berkley weigh in bag for me? I seen them on the FLW and thought someone on here should have a connection. G
  4. +1 on paint not sticking. Good bait, poor paint adhesion.
  5. I have a baggie filled full of old jigs and new lead weights that I replaced with tungsten. I would be happy to ship them out to anyone who would be willing to swap me out for some quality jigs. I weighed it out and it appears to be around a pound and a half. Shoot me a Pm if anyone is interested. Thanks, G
  6. Just joined. My club requires it to fish in state qualifiers. I also enjoy every bit of info given and knowing some of the money is going to help protect the sport I love. I feel 15 dollars is a small price to pay to help future anglers enjoy the sport as I do. Still waiting on my first magazine though. G
  7. GMAN Jigs! Accept no substitutes! J/K He really does make some wonderful stuff. This year I have won several league events and caught my personal best on a Gman Jig. His prices are more than fair for a hand tied jig. Hes always willing to get them shipped out right away and has all the colors you should need. To sum it up, I use Gman jigs because it catches fish. Try them you will see what all the fuss is about. Good luck. G
  8. Thad. I havent been on the forum for a while but I think I can help you out. Actually I know I can. lol The Iwata airbrush is the only one to use. Nuff said! As far as compressors go, anything will work just fine. I havent looked at the iwata compressors, just wait, Ok, I just checked them out. Not real close but I see what you are looking at. That style of compressor is a quick recovery compressor. If it even has a tank, I guess I forgot to look. It might even be continuous, meaning it runs constantly. It will work fine for just about any type of paint you use. Im a custom painter myself so I only deal with automotive paints. They are the easiest to spray and clean up, IMHO. All you need is paint and reducer. Thin it as needed ususally one to one but play with it, thats why its called custom. The only thing you need is lacquer thinner for clean up. Its very cheap and comes in gallon sizes. By cheap I mean 15.00+ for a gallon. This will last you a looonngg time with airbrushing. These paints are not for use indoors!!!! Which brings me to my next statement. If your spraying outdoors you could get a garage style compressor that can be used for other things as well such as air tools. Many can be had from local Home depots, Lowes, etc. The only thing you will need is a compressor with an air pressure gauge so you know about how much pressure is in the line. Its not the same as the pressure at the end of the hose but thats another subject for a different day. I usually run about 30-40lbs of pressure. The other reason that I would get a compressor that has a tank is so that once the tank is filled the motor shuts off and you can enjoy quite time while you sip your Coors lights and learn how to paint in the evening. P.S. There will be lots of Coors light being drank! Do not by an oiless compressor, they are loud! Enough rambling. its like this. Small actual airbrush compressors are: Small, portable, usually fairly quiet, and limited use. Normal compressors : Everyday uses, have the ability to use higher pressures for bigger spray guns in the future, shut off and enjoy Coors time in the quiet. not really portable but some of them have wheels so you can move them around if needed. To me its a no brainer but if space is an issue or for whatever reason you dont want a bigger compressor the silver jet will fill the bill nicely. Oh, last thing make sure you by a hose with a quick disconnect and a quick disconnect for your brush. Life will be easier. Give'em hell and paint the world! G
  9. awesome, I just ordered some g-man jigs. Cant wait! G
  10. I am trying to purchase a dozen or so hand made jigs, black/blue. Everyone I have contacted doesnt return e-mails. Any suggestions? Thank you, G
  11. If anyone needs one painted, I can possibly help out if dampeoples is busy. email me frankasinatra@yahoo.com.. G
  12. Thanks keith. I have the book you have stated and used it when redoing a lightning rod grip for my wife. She doesnt know any better. : I installed it from the butt end and it worked out perfectly. Very happy with the end result. Its my opinion that rod building isnt a science rather an art. With that In mind I feel many people have their opinions about what is actually art and what is not. Its all personal preferance. With a small amount of guidance on selecting blanks, I can make a fishing rod. With a little more knowledge, I feel I can build a rod and make it work well. With some tips I feel I can make a fishing rod anyone would be proud to own. I need help on the small stuff. For example: If I want aluminum winding checks, will they always come in the exact sizes I need? If not, how do I get them to fit? Go smaller and ream them out? build them up with thread and slip them over? How are winding checks attached to the grips? Another thing that comes to mind. Why do rod manufacturers put the adjustable end of the reel seat at the bottom? I hate it, Its always uncomfortable on my hand after a days use. I want to know how much I can cut off of threads in order to keep them at a minimum? As short as I want just so I can get my reel foot in there? Thanks for the help, and I love the site. Grant
  13. I am going to build a couple of rods myself and I have a few questions on components and applications. * Are the Titanium framed SIC or Cermet guides the same? How are they different? * How are spinning reel handles measured? How do I decide on what I want? Personal taste? * How does a person know what sizes of guides they should be using? How many? * If I want a split grip and have a 6'6" blank and I want a 6'9" does anyone recommend adding an extension to the butt or just live with the 6'6". * Which way should the spine be orientated? I deal with Golf shafts so I know theres a big debate on this but give me an idea what it does with the spine on top and bottom please. * I see prices on blanks are through the roof, Is there anyplace that sells them at cost to builders? How many do I need to order? I ask because I can get Loomis and St.croix finished rods with Titanium guides for a little more than a blank. Would I be better off buying the finished rod and redoing it? * Finally how hard is hypalon to work with? I see them on many Japanese rods and I do like the looks. This is what I would like to do something like the Megabass or Evergreen Style of rods. Any help on these questions or if you know of some pictures that would help me on my mission would be great. I have looked at DG rod works and with out a doubt those are some of the finest rods I have come across. I have something to shoot for! lol Thank you, G
