  1. Late to the party, but I have an IMX CR721 with a PX68R. It is a great combo for weightless worms. I run 6 (8 pound at the most) monofilament on mine. It's not the latest but one of the best light action rods still on the market. I think the combo weighs about 8 ounces or so.
  2. I have just spooled up some Yo Zuri #4 Hybrid Ultra Soft on a Stradic 1000. The #4 breaking strength is about #8 according to Yo Zuri, and it sure feels like it. At .009" it's closer to #6 regular Stren diameter wise. The abrasion resistance seems to be excellent. I use the green as it's easier for me to see The #6 would probably need a larger diameter spool for best casting performance. It's nothing like XL. Fairly stiff. I was surprised that it's not unmanageable on a spool as small as the Stradic's, but it casts well. It is a little noisy coming off the spool. Time will tell if it's the right line for my uses. Don't know if I helped or not.
  3. I decided to keep the LPS 603 and the Ross Rhythm that I had for sale. There are a few local streams that are better suited for fly presentations. This is a section of the Middle Saluda in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness, catch and release single hook only.
  4. I've had my IMX SR6010 for going on twelve years, best 5' ultralight I've used. I've used most everything in the 5' range, including the cheaper Quantums, Fenwick, Garcia (that dates me), and Orvis (glass, graphite, and bamboo) rods. The IMX has the #18 handle which has a locking reel seat (I hate sliding rings on spinning and fly rods). There is also a 5' GL3 two piece version that feels a little slower and is equipped with the same locking reel seat as the IMX version. The GL3 SR541 (4'6") also has the locking reel seat and is a bit crisper in action than the 5'. I just bought the SJR720 for larger streams. It will flick a 1/16 ounce inline a mile, but has significant backbone for larger inlines heavier water and bigger fish. Tight lines, JB
