Going to Bass Pro tonight. I need a flipping and pitching rod.
I bought a new rod and reel tonight. I frickin scored nice on this one. I got my flippin and pitching/ frog rod. I went to Bass Pro earlier this evening and got the Johnny Morris Carbonlite rod, a 7 footer, medium heavy. With a Bass Pro, Pro qualifier reel, 7.1:1 left handed retrieve. The best part was the price. Rod was $130. Reel was $110. That is $240 for the combo. I was talking to dude at the reel counter and asked why the BP website has Johnny Morris combos but the store doesn't. He said he would "do me right" for the combo. I told him "awesome, thank you". I went to go some lures, frogs and line. I brought him back some 65lb braid and he spooled it up for me. I went and did some more shopping. Since I bought my boat there I got the Bass Pro VIP membership. 20% off of Bass Pro label products, and 10% off everything else. So I go up to the counter to pay for everything. I got a bunch of new baits. Prob 15 lures and a couple bags of soft plastics and a couple other things I need. The total price was well over $400. I noticed my $240 rod/reel combo now has a $169 price tag. Then I dropped my 20% off VIP card on Art. He said "you got me lol, your stealing this rod and tackle". I basically got the rod/reel combo for a $100 discount. Im spooled up with 65lb braid and I cant wait to hit the slough tomorrow. Even after the rod/reel was discounted to $169 and all the baits I got, the total came to $400. I walked out paying $240 for everything.

title says it all. Any recommendations are appreciated. I want to stick with a BassPro brand. I bought a boat and got the VIP member ship for 2 years. That gives me 20 percent off of basspro brands and 10 percent off everything else, excluding things on sale. Also, what other techniques will this rod cover? I have 3 baitcasters right now but they are all MH 6'6" and have 6:3.1 reels.

Thanks J. It is much more boat than I thought it would be. Honestly I havent done much fishing out of it. Im still trying to learn the boat. Ive taken it out about half a dozen times and it is always a learning experience. this is the day I hit the bottom of the lake, in the middle. I didnt realize the fish finder was in "simulator" mode. Good thing it was just mud

Hey everyone I thought I would introduce myself. I have been fishing for 30 years but I'm new to Bass fishing. Ive been out a dozen times this year to the Delta and some lakes with a buddy in his boat. A month ago I bought a 2016 BassTracker 175TXW. I love the boat. It is the first boat that is actually mine so Ive had a lot of growing pains but I'm enjoying it. I have a lot to learn when it comes to fishing for LMB. I look forward to learning from everyone here and sharing my catches.
