  1. I didnt read clean through all the posts..but in reply to the original first post of this topic..this will be the first year that I'm not wrestling down at college, and I plan on launching the boat to fish here in Indiana unitl I absolutely cannot due to ice. I've read to many articles or stories from Greg Mangus about catching quality fish while having to break through thin layers of ice. Fishing's my passion and if I'm not wrestling I'm on the water, so I've gotta try it! haha.. Best of luck guys, -JP
  2. I'm up around 15min. or so from Wawasee, IN and I've had sucess with some smallies up this way recently with a 3/16oz Bite-Me sparkie jighead tipped with a Poor Boys Craw Daddy. Its a fairly finesse presentation, but very natural and a nice snack for a fat brownie! Stick 'em! -JP
  3. I'm sorry if I'm posting this topic in the wrong forum page, but I couldnt quite figure out where it belonged. I've done some research on various gps charts/ sonar graph combos and I'm very interested in Lowrance's HDS systems. Particularly, I'm interested in the HDS-5 model, because as a starting gps I see it as a good fit. I was wondering if any forum users had used tried out the HDS systems and what your thoughts were on them? I've played around on it a few times now at the tackle-store and I'm really wanting to get one this fall/ winter to play with. Thanks, JP

Your take on them..Personal favorites, opinions as to if they work attracting fish or merely masking unpleasurable odors. And secondly, your opinion on using them while night fishing for bass, because senses other than sight come more into play while fishing under the stars..
  5. With a 50-horse I have the smallest boat in my club. It's a Lowe fishing-machine..a real nice little boat, front/rear deck and counsel..but its no ranger. A few reasons that I LOVE fishing tournies with it.. - Most lakes up here in NE Indiana have a 10mph speed limit...and/or small enough that even if there's no speed limit it would only take you a couple seconds longer to make a run. - People recognize the boat. It kinda stands out not being your typical tourney rig...which is pretty cool haha... - Winning out of it is Awesome! Winning a tournament is about being able to catch fish, and when you're able to put them in the boat when the other guys cant..its an amazing feeling, and makes filling up the weigh-in bag out of that little boat's livewell that much sweeter
  6. Missed it..but very interesting point. I kinda doubt it but I'd like to get a look at that..
  7. Just echoing what many have already said...I'd take a tourney like this over a slugfest on the elites any day. In my club, if you average a 10lb limit throughout the entire season, you're running away with AOTY. Love the tough ones..
  8. Hey everybody, this is JP from northern Indiana. I'm a 3rd year college student studying physical therapy. I also wrestled at the varsity collegiate level of the NCAA. Bass fishing isn't just something I do..It's who I am. I participating in my first club-level tournament season and am currently sitting in 2nd place over-all. My ultimate career pursuit is to attain an elite status of fishing at the professional level, something which I believe can happen with intense hard work and dedication. I hope to learn a lot from this forum and I'm looking forward to being an active member of it! - JP
