Why is braid not sensitive on slack line?
Attaboy! ? There was braided line that was made out of nylon, long ago. I used it, up until the turn of the century. All of it that I saw was dyed black, I suppose to deal with UV degradation. It was like PE braid, but softer. I always liked it, but many other fishermen didn't share my enthusiasm for it. ? jj

Victory Is Near
The musky rods that give you a choice are $370 to over $400. I would imagine that if you offered to pay that much for a bass rod, that St. Croix might give you a choice of split grip or full grip, too! Give them a phone call and see. They're accessible. jj

Anybody ever wanna go back?
" ... Am I the only one who feels this way some times? ... " No, you're not. I constantly have on my mind the goal given many years ago by a friend of my father; "One rod, one reel, and a handful of lures." Maybe someday I'll get there. ? jj

Somethings Should Just Be Private
The motto has been advertised as, "Stay Connected!". I think it's just the opposite; people on their phones are DISconnected ....... from reality. I don't know, maybe that's their point. ??? jj

Somethings Should Just Be Private
The phones irritate me vastly more than the odor. (I used an outside privy until I was 4 years old.) I hate even more people who don't watch where they're driving while they're on the phone, whether talking or texting. It's bad enough in town, but on high speed roads it can be lethal. ? ? jj

Spring Muddy water finesse baits?
My muddy water mantra (spring or otherwise) is "water displacement". My junior varsity choice is "thump". Rattles don't make much difference to me. My idea of "finesse" is to downsize my spinners, spoons or spinnerbaits. ? jj

Average Bass Tackle Length of Cast?
Here is a video of one of the great bass-casting-in-the-real-world fishermen; David Fritts. His statements are interesting. BTW .... this video is 7 years old.

Chronarch mgl vs Curado mgl 70 k
Spool sizes are like boxing weight classes. You've got the 50/70 size, then the 150 size, then the 200 size and then the 300 size. These are all used for bass. 400 size is generally for musky or saltwater, and 500 size is saltwater. 50/70 is for finesse. Lightweight. 150 is an intersection between efficiency for lighter line and capacity for heavier line. Welterweight. 200 used to be standard .... at least in my world. That's the 12-20 lb. test, 3/8-2 oz. lure weight bracket. Kinda like light heavyweight in boxing. 300 is what I use for 65 lb. braid for frogging. If a musky just happens to take my lure, well ..... I think I've got'im. ? Heavyweight. You've also got BFS reels, for really light stuff. That's bantamweight or flyweight. All you need to remember is you don't send a bantamweight to fight the heavyweight's fight. Hope this helps. jj

Chronarch mgl vs Curado mgl 70 k
Be aware that the Curado 70 has a smaller spool. The Chronarch is a 150-size spool. This might be important to you, or it might not. One other thing: the Curado has an aluminum frame, while the Chronarch has a non-metal frame. jj

What is a lure that the Bass can’t resist?
I don't know how to get them to bite, but at least I know how to find them! If they can resist that, they're pretty strong bass! jj

Best casting reel for long distance
Depends whether you're throwing a weightless Senko, a one ounce spoon or a 4 ounce swimbait. jj

Average Bass Tackle Length of Cast?
There's definitely a difference between long distance and accuracy at that distance. I got my taste for a little distance from river fishing, but like @new2BC4bass and unlike @Catt and @WRB, I cast like Dick Swan said: " ... good enough to hit the river!" jj p.s. - Dick Swan passed away only about 5 years ago, at 80-some years old. RIP.

Average Bass Tackle Length of Cast?
I regularly use spoons, and they'll cast a heck of a lot further than spinnerbaits. So the amount of line you want to give yourself is going to depend to a great extent on which lures you will use. jj

Frog reel
I have a TranX 300a for a frog reel. I have 65 lb. braid on it. I didn't choose this because of the weight of the frog (it's light) or the size of the fish (I'm in the North, so they're small) but because of the 10% rule: "if you pull in a 1 lb. bass in weeds, it's got another 9 lbs. of weeds with it. So the fish is only 10% of the load." ??? Seriously, though ..... I pull in at least as much weeds as fish. jj
