Kept a bass and regretted it??
To the OP: I keep a few bass out of the lakes without ever having any regret but none are ever 3lbs or over. If I'm wanting to keep many fish, I usually hit an overstocked pond.

Not taking too much tackle on fishing trips Short and Week Long
Unless I am going to a pond, I don't leave much behind. I usually have a short list of items that are left easily accessible but rarely hit the water without anything that might be needed. If taking a long trip and fishing out of someone else's boat, I will leave some of my tackle locked in the truck/motel and only fill their boat with what they recommend. So far I have never filled a boat beyond it's weight capacity and had it sink........ I'm sure my time is coming though

Color difference
I make my black blue and junebug jigs an all in one. The heads start out black and end up with blue and green flake with the head having a purple tint to it. I put a tab of each black, black/blue, and junebug in the skirt. I can increase the black, blue, or junebug by simply varying the trailer colors. Hard to beat versatility!!

How common or rare?
It is not uncommon for a small lake to have a lot of large bass in it. It's all in the way that it is managed and has nothing to do with the size of the water. We have a couple of small lakes that produce some quality bass. Those lakes don't have a lot of pressure and most people release the larger fish to be caught again!

Do you have a routine game plan or do you just "Wing It"
I usually have a plan for each lake that I fish before I get there but the plan is subject to change, if needed. Most times I have a good idea as to where the fish will be and what they will hit. If fishing a new lake, I will make plans based on what I see on the Topo.

Jig making start up cost
Lure Parts Online, Jann's Netcraft, or Barlow Tackle should have jig heads that are ready to be assembled and all of the parts needed. Don't forget to purchase some Teflon pins to fill the weedgaurd hole before painting!

Replacing rattle back jig skirts
Dead Soft Wire, found in Walmart's crafts section, would probably be the easiest way to tie a skirt in place and it's fairly easy to work with. Our local store has 3 sizes and I have used the middle size to tie a few lures.

Hookset catchphrase?
Depends on what I am throwing, it will usually include something to do with that bait. Example: If throwing a Hoo Daddy, I tend to say "Who's Your Daddy" My brother tends to do the same thing and was throwing my new jig in a Grasshopper color, this past Saturday. Couldn't tell you how many times I had to listen to him holler "GGRRRAASSSSSHOPPPPEERR" with some strange oriental twist to it (reminded me of a kung fu show that was on tv when I was a kid) ..........I was about ready to toss him out of the boat

ever do something this stupid?
Why yes, yes I have We have to renew our licenses at the first of March and several years ago we had some nice weather hit in early march. Ice was off the ponds so I loaded up and hit some conservation ponds. It dawned on me that I had forgot to renew my licenses at the same time that I seen the conservation agent pull up. Luckily, he said "Oh it's you, I thought I was going to catch someone fishing without a license". I asked him if he wanted to see mine and he said no!! As soon as he left, I beat it back to our store and sold myself my license......... sometimes it pays to be a permit vendor

Bass Behavior
Not really sure but have always wondered if hook placement has something to do with it. I know that it doesn't get much worse than having a big bass play dead while you real him in.
