  1. sounds like you need a go-pro lol
  2. You cant do much about it but you did the right thing. Its insane how heartless some people are towards their dogs. I wouldnt have started a fist fight just because I'm not that kind of a person but I definitely would have said something along the lines of "if you cant treat a dog like a loved one don't own one"
  3. If you have a bass club in your area, talk to them. A lot of the guys are more than willing to give some tips and tricks on every subject about fishing. Other than that, extreme angler is fantastic for information.
  4. navionics is litereally the best. If the lake isnt on there, try just googling topo map of whatever lake youre looking for.
  5. I will usually keep it at the same pace. I will make the same exact cast again with either a faster retrieve and then a slower retrieve. If I dont catch the fish I will change colors. They are "bumping" the lure because something is off and making them not want to commit. A lot of time I will go through with a finesse presentation after I missed fish on reaction baits.

when Im using led a lot of the time the hole at the head of the weight is deformed or almost closed, I have to open them manually. If i dont, using 15lb CXX line, the weight rubs the line the wrong way so to speak.

I have noticed there is a lot of friction on the line with lead, especially with heavier line. I will have to give brass a try. I'm also curious about the beads you use with the brass. Do you use a clear or painted bead. Glass or hard plastic?

Would you say brass is better than led in the terms of sensitivity?
  9. LOL what in the world, that makes sense!

I would have never known that it was banned! this is why i started this thread, yall have some great experience and advice.

Is that because of the size of the weight at that point?

I was just trying to spark a conversation about the 2 and which one was more applicable to the average angler. I havent used tungsten just because i have a hard time paying 8 bucks for 3 bullet weights when i cant plenty of fish on the regular led. I didnt even think about how the lead actually affects the water quality, good point! as for the sound, i just use a bead between my hook and bullet weight. catch plenty of fish*
  13. I was just curious how everyone feels about tungsten, does it REALLY make that much of a different of is it a confidence thing?
  14. I x2 on this. Maybe try a bluegill colored 3/8 swim jig, frogs are always a good idea in the grass as well. T-rig a big ribbon tail worm, peg the weight and fish it slow is always a go-to for me.
  15. I would say Lews for sure. Fish4bigfish has an excellent idea as well.
  16. For me, it all depends on the situation. Take this weekend for example, I will be going to a river that is almost 3 hours away to catfish. I will keep the fish on a stringer until its time for me to go, then I will throw them in a dedicated cooler full of ice for the trip home. I wont kill them until I get home. Catfish tend to stay alive for quite a while out of water. The meat will go straight from the fish into a deep fryer and the remains straight into a freezer. When Im salmon fishing I will bleed them out, on land, and throw them in the cooler right away. Im not sure if it makes a difference with the blood in the water or not but Im a superstitious person so I dont want the blood in the water to deter them LOL When Im fishing for trout, I throw them on a stringer and wait until Im ready to leave and I will completely clean them on the bank. Ill throw their guts into the rocks in the water for the crawfish to eat. Then throw the fish on ice. Maybe a little insight of what I have been doing and works for me will give you a little help.
  17. I broke their MH throwing a 1/2 oz spinner bait, the first 4 inches broke when setting hook on my M and the other M that I had i guess could have been my fault but I was hung trying to get it out and literally snapped in half. I felt like the pressure I was applying was nothing compared to a 6lb smallie I caught on that rod. Ive been using st. croix for 2 years now and I have never had a rod break, crack or anything like that.
  18. I personally use a MH 7' Mojo Bass for my deep cranks and spinner baits. The rods specific technique says "spinner bait" and itsfantastic.
  19. STAY AWAY FROM VERITAS. I have broken 3 of them. I use a Dobyns Fury 7'3" H for my jigs and punching. I use a Mojo Bass 7' MH for spinner baits, deep divers, and 10" worms. I have another Mojo Bass 7' M that I use for basically ALL my t-rigs that are less than 1/2 oz. If you cant tell I LOVE the Mojo Bass rods, their tips are very sensitive and a lot of back bone. I caught my PB nothern (40" 23 lbs) on the MH throwing a size 14 husky jerk. Moral of the story, they are amazing for the price point. I also really like the Dobys Fury. Id say try them both out, get one of each see which feels better in your hand.
  20. I personally use a St. Croix 6'6" MLXF and I love it. I cant say Ive used the others...
  21. I think you can find a veritas(not the 2.0) or a vendetta for $70 bucks and its worth the extra $10. also, I would go MH 7'
  22. St. Croix 7' MHF Mojo Bass with a Lews Tournament MB. For a beginner the breaking system of the MB is perfect to learn on. I suggested this set up to one of my friends for their first and they are already flipping and pitching beside me 2 weeks later. The rod says "spinner bait" but trust me, its great for jigs as well.
  23. I have a St. Croix Mojo Bass M 7ft spinning rod and I absolutely love it. Ive caught from 6lb rainbows and 5lb smallmouth to a 15lb northern. I would HIGHLY recommend this rod for an all purpose spinning rod. 8lb line for throwing 1/4 oz spoons and jigheads with grubs to 20lb braid with a flouro leader for dropshotting, senkos, and fluke. Exactly what youre looking for. Not to mention ive had the rod for almost 2 years and its with me every trip.
  24. clinch knots for braid aren't the best, Palomar knot always when using braid.
