Sounds like a great day our on the lake!
  4. Thats what im talking about!!!!!!!
  5. I guess it all depends on what kind of crankbait you want ... deep diver, shallow diver, mid-diver, suspender, or lipless. I'll give you my input on a lipless crankbait. I do a lot of fishing with lipless crankbaits and alot of it has been with rattlin rapalas, which are great lures. These crankbaits will run true and straight as fast or as slow as you bring them in. You can also fish them at any depth. Although in the past couple of months I have discovered a new love. The Yo-zuri Rattlin Vibe.. This lure has a very loud rattle and serves very well as a search/reaction bait. Although this lure cost a few extra bucks its worth it in my eyes.. I could probably give you some input about some other styles of crankbaits i.e. deepdivers .. ect but I have not yet gotten a handle on fishing them myselp. GOOD LUCK! Pat
  6. I like to through a wacky style 4 inch yum dinger. Or a 4-inch worm shakey head style. Both in watermelon color
  7. Anyone want to buy some cutco knives from my. Throw me a PM or an email at patbfishing123@hotmail.com and I will send you a list of what I have with prices. I used to be a cutco salesman so all is in mint, never-used condition. Lettme know Pat.
  8. In my opinion your either gonna want to go with a really slow pesentation with a jig or worm. Or you could go for the reaction bite (when you bring a lure by a bass so fast that he hits it out of suprize or a natural reaction to something hauling by it.) Either will work. Jigging and worming in cold water is a little more boring and you do not cover as much water in the amount of time that you can cover the same amount of water with say a lipless crankbait. Covering a lot of water is important when the water is cold, because the bass are generally spread out on flats in 5-10 feet of water depending on the water temp.. this senerio is true when the water is in the range of 45-55 degrees. You have to find them and get your lure/presentation to them. They will not come to you when the water is soo cold. They are lathargic (not moving much or eating much.) Find the fish and give them the right presentation and you will probably catch them.... good luck Pat
  9. I dont think the link works... I clicked it and it brought up a page that said there was an error on the page or something like that.
  10. welcome... well it looks like you have all the right tools to get the job done... seriously or not! Good stuff Pat
  11. you hit it right on the nose. I think anyway. Double tailed hula grubs are virtually the only trailers i use. Chompers make a great doubletailed hula grub which has a strong garlic scent which will prompt the bass to hold onto the bait longer.
  12. Use brighter/ flashy colors when sunny and darker more natural colors when cloudy. Usually all i do with a crankbait in the warmer months is cast as far as I can and burn it in. And if colder I reel it in slower abou 2 feet off the bottom. See more at my blog. http://patsbassfishing.blogspot.com/ good luck!
  13. I agree jig fishing was probably the hardest technique for me to get down.. still havent mastered it.
  14. that is one beautiful fish! Very nice job

  16. are they any good... what are the bad things you have seen and what are the good things.. Thanks Pat
  17. so is that the difference between floro and mono?
  18. When should i use flourocarbon and when should I use monofiliamentand when should I use braided. I do a lot of jig fishing and crankbaiting and worm fishing. What line works best for these situations. Also should i use a backing for all of these situations. Thanks, Pat
  19. What do you folks think? Im looking to buy some new reels and I came accross this deal...Three Quantum Shaw Grigsby SGA600CX for $130.00. Sound like a good deal? And does anyone kow if these are just accurist reels or not?
  20. The area that i fish has a muck covered bottom and Do very well with jigs in there.. The key is to go as big as possible with the smallest weight possible. Bigger profile+lighter weight= slow fall. But also key in on the structure of the water. besides a pond or lake with a muck bottom is probably going to be somewhat stained anyway and the fish will being holding relatively close to the structures. So fish the structures or and points or sandbars. You should have some pretty good luck. And the last thing is dont give up.. Jig fishing is very slow and and you have to perservere through the hours of fishing so slow but you will usually get some great results. BIG Bass like jigs. When i was younger and just starting into my jig fishing experience I would use a jig for half and hour and not catch a fish. Its jsut because I was using the wrong one in the wrong area.. Keep fishing it until you find what works best for that body of water.. Good luck Pat
