  1. Welcome Brad, your presence makes us all glad. See what I did there, lol Tight Lines and Ripped Lips
  2. That's a hilarious story, I've seen people try to do that on some of my fishing trips as well but without the kind of success you had. Those kids actually probably did gain great inspiration and will probably keep coming back to try to see another "show" catch their own fish and like Flyfisher said get hooked. Tight lines and ripped lips everyone
  3. Thank you so much for all your answers, opinions and input everyone. This is what I love about this community, there is something to learn every single day and everyone looks after each other. I will definitely take all of your valuable information, keep it in mind and practice what I learned. Again thank you so much for all your replies everyone. Tight lines and ripped lips
  4. I am sure all of us have seen this happen, but the other day I was out on a local pond here in Ashburn VA and I hooked a small Largemouth. Now being the greedy little thing it was, it swallowed the grub I was casting hook and everything. I had a very hard time trying to get the hook out without injuring the fish but ultimately I had to kind of tear into it and unhook. I saw that the fish was injured but if I cut the line at it's mouth it would have probably died, if I tore the hook out it would have died. What do you guys usually do when a situation like this arises. Note that I'm pretty new to the whole fishing scene and clearly was worried. Any input would be appreciated. Keep those lines tight and lips ripped
  5. Beaverdam Reservoir is about 5 minutes from where I live and I go there pretty often. Just being there by the shore has a calm and tranquil feeling. But unfortunately it seems that the fish inside are the pickiest eaters this side of the northern hemisphere. I have thrown everything in my arsenal at them including wacky rigs, texas rigged senkos, spinnerbait, grubs, frog baits, and power lizards. They seem to care about none of these. I did get a bite once on a power worm but that was about it. Even a gentleman who kayak fishes almost daily there whom I had a small discussion the other day said nothing bites and even he tried many different methods, baits and fished during different times of the day. I'm about to Texas rig a small filet mignon, lobster tail and a nice flute of Krug to at least pick up something on the reservoir. I love that lake, I'm going to be pretty bummed out when it closes in November, but before that I would love to at least catch a few of its noble aquatic residents. Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts to this dilemma? Thanks everyone, Keep those lines tight and keep ripping lips
  6. Thanks for starting/reviving this thread. I live in Ashburn and will usually go to Goose Creek Canal or Beaverdam Reservoir in the evenings. There is a very small lake right by the Lotte Plaza grocery store here in the middle of a residential area which I go to regularly. The bass I caught in my profile pic is from there. I'll usually catch Bluegill over there but I guess I just got lucky that day with a Texas rigged senko which is my go to rig along with live worms. I've been experimenting with a lot of the advice given on BassResource and am about to try out a Ned rig next and see if it can bring me in something. Tight lines everyone
  7. A small bullet weight will do the job, not too heavy just the size of the senko's head. I hope it works out, let us know how it went. Good Luck
  8. I've actually been experimenting with weightless and weighted Senko texas rigs. Both seem to work fine although the weighted ones bring in more fish for me. It seems the weightless one gets more bites though. It will also depend heavily on how you retrieve, try making the worm look natural under the water. I fish in Virginia and its usually clear water, I've only once fished in absolutely muddy water with very minimal success. Keep those lines tight
