First time out with the whopper plopper 90
d**n. Unfortunately like any other lure it isn't perfect. I've seen a school of bass completely ignore my WP and wanted to scream! Keep at it. People swear the 130 is better than the 90 but I can't get a bite on the 130 to save my life.

First time out with the whopper plopper 90
I finally encountered the hook problem I have read about on posts in this forum. I was fighting a 1-2 lb fish this morning when the o ring on the front hook broke. Fortunately the fish was stuck on the back hook so I was able to remove the front hook from its mouth before releasing it. Any suggestions on replacement hooks?

Great advice! If you need to cover a lot of water this is the lure to use.

I didn't think they got that big there either. I had a crowd of people amazed at the size of it too. It was definitely eating well as it was a fat one.

First Time Catching a Seagull, What About You?
Caught a seagull on my whopper plopper 90 at lunchtime today. I had a hard time keeping it away fro the trees but was abke to get the hook out of its beak. I honestly never thought I would have a reason to post on this topic.

First time out with the whopper plopper 90
Just got home from catching my new PB (5.02 lbs) on the blue blood WP 90. I also caught my smallest LMB and a seagull! I was about ready to give up on the WP as it hasn't produced the past 2 times I have gone fishing but decided to throw it some more. I found it works really well on heavily fished ponds and lakes.

Congrats on the new PB Janderson! I just got back from fishing Jamaica Pond for about 45 minutes at lunchtime with my blue blood whopper plopper 90 and caught 3 things: 1) I also caught my new PB at 5.02 lbs! It looks like the big girls are biting with the cooler temps. This was also my first fish I have ever caught at JP. 2) my smallest largemouth bass (smaller than the 90). 3) and a seagull! I watched it dive down to grab my WP and was fortunate to keep it out of the trees. It was only hooked in the beak so i was able to get the hook out easily and it flew away. I'm still shaking from the adrenaline rush of catching that big one!

Finally got the Double Plopper
I was hoping I could convince myself it was a gimmick so I wouldn't buy it but now I might have to ask my wife for a raise in my allowance so I can buy 1 or 2. ?

Finally got the Double Plopper
Direct tie. I've been holding back on buying one of these. I'm trying to figure out if they are a gimmick or not before I buy one (or two). Cabella's does have them for $14.

Very nice Cya. The lower Charles has dried up for me. I haven't caught anything out of it in weeks.

I was thinking about taking the back hook off but I finally caught one on the back hook yesterday.

First time out with the whopper plopper 90
That is the first time I have seen a fish on the back hook. All the fish I catch are on the front hook. I use a WP 90 in Blue Blood with a steady retrieve and do well with it on heavily fished bodies of water. I think the darker colors do better since I have a couple of 130s in lighter colors and haven't caught a thing with them.

Thanks JF10. I have a freshwater lake and the ocean within 100 yards of where we are staying. It will be tough to decide where to fish. Probably freshwater early in the morning and evening and saltwater during the heat of the day. i hope you get that Striper for your son!

Thanks guys. I'm just glad I got the fish swimming by again. I took to long getting those d**n treble hooks out of it. I'm heading up near Bath, Maine tomorrow for vacation and the place we are staying has a small lake on it which means A LOT of fishing! ?

Sounds better than how I've been doing on the lower Charles lately which is about 10 fish less than you caught today. I've been hitting the Brookline Reservoir the past couple of days for about an hour each day and caught 2 small ones, a 2.5lb, and a 3.1lb (my new personal best) on a whopper plopper 90. Missed several smaller bites. The big one inhaled the lure with the back hook all the way into its throat. I was able to get it swimming again giving it the fish version of CPR. I still cannot get a bite on a 130 to save my life....

Thanks for the I for Cya! It is definitely overgrown with vegetation so I stick mainly to top water baits there. I finally found a topo map of it from 1993 and noticed the deepest water is close to that little house so I think that is why they are near there. i am going to try it tonight to see how it is.

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
I have a quick question (I am sure it has been asked before so I'll go ahead and apologize). The next few weeks will be tough for me to go fishing during the day so can anyone recommend a pond around Boston to try at night? Or does anyone have any experience fishing the Brookline Reservoir at night?

Thanks for the advice on the 130 and braided line. Unfortunately I am not having any luck with the 130 but have been doing well on the 90 (roughly 6 fish - 0).

I am using 20 lb braid too. Brookline Reservoir has always been a tough place for me to catch fish since it gets a lot of pressure but the WP 90 in black/blue blood helped me to have my best day there ever with total of 4 fish landed and missed several more. Not bad for for the windy conditions. I have a 130 being delivered tonight and will hit bulloughs pond tomorrow morning

i was able to find a couple of Whopper Plopper 90s this week and tried them out on the Brookline Reservoir for an hour this morning. I caught 2 LMB about 1.5 pounds each. Those things cast a mile!
