i tried just the other day, no bites. I saw a lot of tails and splashing all around, dont know if they were catfish or smallmouth though. Tried a crank bait in a red color and then a big 0 in a tiger/chartruese, tube in a silver blue, brown and yellow, and black with silver fleck. tried a spook, a mini torpedo, and a popper in black with silver bottom, red feathery tail. was there from 4pm-8pm

i walked right a long the water until it stopped having a path. i saw people prob another 40 yards further waded out into the middle, facing away from the dam and fishing.

Ya I was on the Maryland side, sorry for late reply. I have been busy. Ya that's what I want to catch pat those types of "catfish" lol. It's a bit of a drive so I was trying to find fish and get an idea of where and what to do to hook them; before I brought my gf and son. I was out there for roughly 4 hours. There were a few people on the rocks right next to/below the dam. They were catfishing I think. Then two other guys were bobber fishing where I had previously been and pulling out fish. They had live bait/meat I believe.

Im new here, obviously lol. I will have to say i was spoiled when it came to fishing when growing up. My dad was a huge fisher and still is but he lives and owns a boat repair shop down in Virginia along the north carolina border, Right on lake gaston/lake kerr. Anyways ive always fished from a boat, but i dont have that luxury anymore lol.I just recently picked back up on fishing and i went out to the slackwater boat ramp, or rather a little up from it right at the water fall. I couldnt get any bites, ended up losing more baits than anything. Is there a good spot to hit either small mouth or large mouth around there? I was literally 30 to 50 yards from the fall so the current was ripping through. I dont really know the area at all, and am just getting frustrated. my gf and i went to greenbrier, then hunting creek/catoctin lake. Not a single bite or any luck. tried crank baits, worms, top waters. Basically just looking for a really good place on shore to catch some fish. Also what lures/colors your using. as well as how your rigging them. Sorry for the long post lol, I was trying to find some post but nothing was definitive for what im looking for. -Matt
