  1. Anyone tried the zero gravity jigs? I just got one and am curious if anyone uses them or has trailer advice. My favorite jig lately has been a baby booyah jig with a paca trailer. I'm really having fun finesse jigging.
  2. This last week I was out of town and got to handle a Curado 200i. Compared to my LFS and Tatula CT it was more comfortable. They didnt have a 70 in stock to feel. What are some other smaller reels under $200. Are there any Lews reels smaller than the LFS?
  3. Now I know where they are I think I'll start targeting them. They're so much fun to catch. There is a lake about 15 min from me that has trophy size stripers, monster hybrids and florida strain bass. Right now I'm land locked but I'll have a Kayak next spring. I can only imagine how much fun it is fight 10lb + stripers in a kayak.
  4. I figured out what was making all the commotion tonight! These fellas move into this particular cove about 8:30 every night and stay until around 11:00.
  5. If you put glass beads on your line with brass weights it makes a very distinct craw immitating clicking sound. I have a bunch of brass i painted black with sharpees that I use.
  6. Well just got back. I was fishing off a dock in a cove and fish were blowing up everywhere, nonstop, and i didnt get a single bite!! Tried buzzbait, frog, spook, spinners, jigs with multiple different trailers, chatterbaits and senkos and not crap! That was probably the mosf frustrating 2 hours of my life haha.
  7. Instead of buying a preset combo buy a rod and a reel. If you go to outdoor.bassdistributing.com you can get a left handed lews lfs for under $75. Then pick your poison on a medium/fast rod around $100.00.
  8. Buy terminal tackle in bulk because you WILL lose it.... a lot!
  9. I've given it a few tries this summer but I think I'm going to head out tonight. I love love love fishing craws so I think that may play well into my strength. What gear do you guys like fishing with at night? I'm taking 12" Manns worms, misc rattling jigs, a bunch of dark colored craws and beavers, black chatterbait, black buzzbait and some colorado bladed spinners.
  10. Cranking rods also come in medium and medium heavy power just like non cranking rods.
  11. I would say the difference between going med and med hvy would come down to how heavy/deep of cranks you are wanting to throw. I have a med/hvy mod veritas 2.0 and it does well with bigger cranks/chatterbaits/swim jigs/lipless cranks.
  12. If she won't park in the garage act quick and put a boat in there!
  13. Well looks like I will be modding my buzzbaits tomorrow. Thanks for posting that!
  14. Thanks to this thread I went and bought one in every color. I even picked up a $1 black and a $1 white buzzbait. The buzzbaits feel really flimsy but it's only a buck.
  15. I've been using Red Label this summer and haven't had any issues with wind loops or jumping off the reel. The line did seem to keep a lot of memory and would stay somewhat curled. This last week I sprayed it down with KVD line and lure and wow what a difference! I have a spool of 8lb yo zuri hybrid I was going to spool up with but I think the KVD fixed my problem. I would like to try braid with a leader but i lose so much terminal tackle due to snags I would be redoing leaders almost as much as I'm fishing.
  16. I haven't used any of those but my Pflueger President 2500 is a true reliable workhorse that is worth twice what they cost.
  17. The fish will go shallow. They will follow the baitfish stocking up on food before winter and spend more time in the shallows as the water cools.
  18. I think you would be better served with the 5.1:1 ratio BB1Z instead of the 7.1 BB1SHZ for dedicated crankin.

As much as I love Rage Tails I have to go Senkos all day, every day, all year.
  20. Wacky rig Shakyhead Ned rig Dropshot Mojo Rig

I can buy anything strike king makes from other brands and be fine but no other worm works as well as a green pumpkin senko.
  22. I have one that a "friend" gave me. I've had it for a month and it's so bad it has cursed my topwater game. I literally haven't caught a topwater fish at all since I got it. Every time I open my topwater box I swear I can hear it laughing at me. Eventually I will, hope, catch a fish on it and retire it to Xmas tree ornament duty so it can spend 11 months out of the year in the bottom of a box burried deep in the bowels of the basement.

Texas rigged craw of some sort usually in green pumpkin.
  24. Hello everyone, my name is Nate. I've been lurking here for about a year and decided to make an account. I live in OK and have been fishing for 30 years, mainly for trout, panfish, and whatever I could catch on live bait, but have recently taken up bass fishing seriously. Currently I have 3 rod/reel setups and a small but basic arsenal of lures. Lews Speed Spool/Veritas frogging/heavy cover rig Tatula/Mojo everything rig Pflueger President/Old Shimano 2 piece spinning rig for finesse. I have a lot of fun finesse fishing and throwing 3" plastic craws but my goal is to finally catch a decent fish on topwater gear. I almost exclusively bank fish but I'm hoping to purchase a kayak this winter on sale. Thanks for reading and I look forward to contributing.
