East/West...Sun/Shade
Sorry guys, I should have mentioned I'm in Arizona where the temp has been 90F for over a week. 8) The water in a 36 acre lake is 70F. Im guessing that the reservoir will be in the mid 60s. I'm thinking of starting in the coves, any ideas?

East/West...Sun/Shade
I a reservoir at sunrise, will the bass be more on the shady east bank where there is a lot of shady water, or hidden in the shady spots on the sunny west side where the water warms quicker? :-/

Dirty water fishing
What do you think about Rat L Traps? Or would they have to be fished too fast?

Dirty water fishing

Dirty water fishing
Chris, you said black on the buzz. Would you say black or dark on the other lures as well?

Painting my boat
Mudpuppy is refering to TSP (tri-sodium phosphate) I think. Be careful when using it and rinse the hull completely or it will dry on. Also look at Inter-Lux paint if you want a hard finish. Costly though. Good Luck

transducer
Google "mounting depth finder transducers" for a lot of input

kayaks
I have been fishing a 9 1/2 foot recreational Swifty for two years. I have it rigged to carry three rods and my gear but no finder. I fish it 4 to 5 times a month in my local lake, and during the summer in the Arizona mountain reservoirs. I am considering an Eagle 128 portable finder so I can use it in my other boat also. Check out the kayak fishing stuff site there is a lot of info. Paddle on. 8)

I'm on every day at work. Sometimes I do not get to see much but it keeps my mind on fishing 8)

How long will you work it?
I will have to keep a closer eye on conditions, and change as needed. Using clips, as I asked in a previous post makes it easy too. THX Ric

Do you use clips??
HEY 47, EVEN TOPWATERS?
-
How long will you work it?
How long will you work a lure without success? 15,30, 45 min etc.? How often do you switch nonperformers throughout the day?
-
Do you use clips??
How many of you use light wire clips rather than tying direct? On which lures? Do you notice a difference in action or catch rate? :

My Topwater Blues!!
I'll give the jerkbaits a try tonight. With a few exceptions, I have not been very successful with them either. Probably, because it is not a bait I am confident with, I do not stay with as long as I should. Learning curve...you know ;D

dock fishing
Most of the docks I fish are cantalevered, without any posts in the lake, and they hold plenty of bass. I hit them with a TRig 7" Zoom Watermellonseed, a 5" Kalin grub on a jighead. Last week I hit them with a white spinner with a Colorado blade and caught 8 in 2hrs. That was my best day with a spinner. I start on the shady side, hit both sides and corners. Sometimes thay do not hit until the 4th or 5th throw. It's a blast. ;D Keep slinging!!

My Topwater Blues!!
Clooney, I did not mention Buzz's because I have been catching with them. Marty, maybe I need to get on the water earlier and stay later...low light periods.

I need SERIOUS Help!!!
Get a dark color (black/blue) spinnerbait with a Colorado blade or a buzzbait. If the water is murky keep it noisy.

My Topwater Blues!!
Skeeter and Longears, you both mentioned waiting to set the hook, maybe I am reacting when I see the bass. Will now wait. Do either of you use scents?

How do you get someone who hates fishing, like it?
I can relate. I just took up fishing again two years ago but it is "too slow"according to my 15yr old. He is an athlete, backpacker, hiker, camper and very active. Now that this site is improving my fishing skills I am going to take him to show how "active" it actually can be. For those of you with young kids believe me, start them now. Cheers

My Topwater Blues!!
I've heard variations of twitch, stop, twitch, twitch, wait etc. Does the lure actually sit still or is it always moving to the boat?
-
Any night fishermen??
Skeeter it WAS awesome that night. I think that the idea of turning off the anti-reverse on my reel is what allowed me to keep that one on to the kayak. That "tip" came from this site too. Cheers

My Topwater Blues!!
Ok guys/gals...your challenge should you choose to accept it. I have little luck ever fishing topwaters , and this stuff is in my box. Zara Spooks, Baby Zaras, Rebel Pop R's, Various size Torpedo's, Spittin Image, Jitter bug etc. Occasionally they will roll near the bait but not hit. I have used a small piece of worm as trailer. I have used scent. You got my spinnerbait working, now I am in need of a topwater Extreme Makeover LOL...Help ;D

Any night fishermen??
I went night fishing, in the kayak, for the first time. I fished topwaters, buzz's, and spinners toward the bank. No luck. Fished a 8" TRigged Zoom watermelon worm over structure and caught a 3lbr. Is night fishing more verticle than horizontal? What are your favorite night baits & techniques?
