  1. Does anyone use 3 stage chargers? Currently I use an old 2/6 amp charger. Do the 3 stage charge quicker, more efficiently, :-/prolong battery life etc?
  2. Thanks ernel, if I hook them together like you said, will it make any difference if one battery is dual purpose and one is trolling?
  3. I have read that you should charge your batteries in a well ventilated area. Does anyone recharge in their garage with the door closed? I currently take the batteries from the boat to the patio to do it. Also, is there a way to hook two batteries together so I can charge them at once? ???
  4. Try to GOOGLE "InterLux" an antifouling primer and paint. I have it on a reconditioned 1982 Sea Nymph and trailer. It drys hard, shiney and cleans up very well but its a little pricey too. ;D
  5. F O M, here in Arizona there have been several lakes with high levels of Mercury. Some say due to the mining industry. Game and Fish gives updates on their website, azgfd.com, check it out. In our mountain lakes near campgrounds the campers and fishermen often leave their trash. Our family does low impact camping so we try to leave the site and lake cleaner than we find it. With few exceptions fish can be eaten from most of our lakes.
  6. Rich, I would buy a used one of these in a minute if I could find one in Arizona. It would be more comfortable than "my sons" kayak. Is your trolling motor a 12 or 24v? Is the boat foam filled like a basshunter? How long and weight? ;D
  7. I fish a small lake within walking distance of home. I use a 9 1/2 foot kayak, rigged it for three poles. I carry 1 Plano box for lures, hooks, weights, and a ziplock bag of plastics. The ziplock, when inflated doubles as a footrest. I am looking for a portable finder. The kayak is fun. But at my age getting in and out and sitting "in there" for 6 hrs is getting tough. My neighbor has an 8' basshunter with a trolling motor and a rigged cart to get it to the lake. The chairs sit up and comfortable. Pole and cup holders etc...a cool stable ride! 8)
  8. Worm77,define gimicky as it relates to Bassin. I am considering a subscription
  9. Dark-Basser uses a heavy rod, what about the rest of you in the 5'6" to 6'6" range. I skip docks from my kayak so I am right on the water. I have been using a 6'6" medium. ;D
  10. Orabbit, did you ever buy one. I fish a kayak and a boat and I am looking at the EagleFishEasy 240. It,s $150 at fishfinder-store.com. Is anyone familier with them or the 240? One concern I have is the 8 D Cell batteries and the size of the case. I may have to call for the exact size. 8)
  11. While trout fishing a mountain lake with inline spinners I foul hooked a rainbow and reeled in only the eye. I've been watching for one with a patch ever since.
  12. thx Phish, I was just trying to eliminate tieing on a different rig. I would fish a t-rig with a sliding bullet and later fish the same rig but slide the bullet up the line 3' and peg it with a toothpick. One of my lakes is low now so I will study some fall rates in the clear water.
  13. THX Chris, when you split shot or C-rig, what type of hook and worm do you use to assure the worm keeps floating not dragging on the bottom?
  14. 77, will the Gremlin also let me use it as a Texas rig? Will it slide free on the line too?
  15. If I peg the bullet sinker up the line, am I basically getting the same action as a split shot rig without having to untie and retie a Texas rig? Will the sinker work it's way down the line? When you peg, do you peg the bottom or top of the sinker?
  16. JT, did you talk about running the "program" on the web? Then charge, a nominal, lower annual fee. Tag it to all of the fishing related web pages for greater exposer. More members but less cost per member. 8)

I use red Gama's almost exclusively on my drop shots with great success. I also use a Gamakatsu red hooked jig, with a red/white head for fishing 3' to 5" grubs. I have not noticed a marked difference there however.
  18. If only one lure manufacturer is represented, it sounds like a "Tupper-lure" party for fishermen. However if several companies with proven effective and dependable lures were also involved I might be interested. Like Chris says a lot depends on the product. Being in a group that can exchange tips on how to fish a Zara, Heddon, or Bomber would be valuable. "That why I like this site" Rather than start new clubs why not market to existing fishing clubs? 8)
  19. My questions. My charger is a 2/6 amp. I charge after each use on 6 amp setting. The gauge on the charger starts at about 5 and slowly moves down while charging about 8hrs. Is the gauge showing the charger decreasing it's amp output? Why does the position of the gauge change when I switch to 2 amp? Would you consider 6 or 2 amp/both trickle charge? Can I charge on 2 amp with caps on batteries in closed garage safely? I'm thinking of getting a 3 stage charger if necessary. ???
  20. Try looking at www.marine-electronics.net. Go to technical articles and then down to deep cycle battery FAQ's it may help. 8)
  21. That is funny JT. It must be on cable...which I do not have.
  22. My guess is high 50's to low 60's. Weekend forcast is now 77 both days, so it may warm up shallow on the NW shoreline
  23. I don't sleep well the night before I early fish and I don't fish tournaments. So, last year when my wife left town for a week, I dropped her at the airport went home for the boat, food and SLEEPING BAG. Spent the night anchored in a cove woke at 4:00 and caught 3 on a popper without starting either motor. What a great way to start the day.
  24. Nick, You read my mind. I talked about the lack of cover and structure in the lake with my 15yr old Boy Scout son. He worked on a fish habitat project a year ago with AZ Game and Fish. So he is going to do one in our lake for an Eagle Project. Cover for bluegill, crappie and other minnows should attract the largemouth. Sould be done by May.
  25. I had a similar problem with my 12/24V Minnkota. It ran for awhile on 24v and died but would run on 12v. I asked the trolling guru at the local shop who stated he thought it was the plug (worn/loose). Put on a new pigtail...works fine ;D
