Need to replace worm gear pawl on Metanium
So I got the pawl replaced on my Metanium and Curado. Actually wasn't too difficult. A tiny washer did fall out after removing reel handle side cover, not sure where it went. After replacing pawl, was seemingly good until last weekend. Locking up and clicking again on my Metanium, so must be the worm shaft at this point. I guess the ceramic pawl beats the hell out of it. I've got a new worm shaft on the way, and did find one (and only one) youtube video that shows how to remove worm gear on Shimano reel. Still wondering if anyone has any tips for replacing the shaft though, especially removing that tiny little c-clamp.

Need to replace worm gear pawl on Metanium
That's the screw I removed, should the wind guard be completely removable after doing so? Didn't seem like it. I could move it a bit, but I'm scared to bend too much, don't want to break it.

Need to replace worm gear pawl on Metanium
I have a 2016 model Metanium MGL XG, bought it used and the reel is showing classic symptoms of a worn pawl. Not bad I guess for being 10 years old. I'd like to replace it myself but not sure what I'm in for. Seemingly the cover below the line guide is in the way of the pawl cap, I was able to remove one screw for the cover and get in there a little better but not sure I can get the cap all the way off. Will I have to take the reel apart further? Not sure if I have the right part either, a manual I found online says BNT5115 but AI told me BNT4036.

Line guide sticking on Daiwa reel
Pawl looks pretty worn but I've identified some wear on the worm gear shaft where it's hanging up as well. I have to take the entire reel apart to replace the worm gear shaft right?

Line guide sticking on Daiwa reel
Daiwa Lexa-WN 300 reel. Video showing how line guide gets stuck in one place when reeling. I cleaned out the worm gear good and re-lubed. I was also able to pull out the pawl, didn't seem to be any issues there. I unscrewed the line guide cap as well, and re-tightened. Can't figure it out, hoping there's a way to fix without pulling the whole reel apart? Video of the problem https://imgur.com/a/7rRfJ3k

I feel like an idiot because I haven't been able to catch a carp since spring
Ok so I caught this fatgirl in April on some cornmeal jello balls I whipped up. Just thrown on a hook. What I didn't realize is that carp is one of the species on the list for a local fishing contest and this fatgirl would have held 1st place for awhile being 21lb. So I need to catch another one, however I can't get em to eat a d**n thing as of late! I fish an old rock quarry and there's a ton of big ones in there but they just don't seem to take bait. Tried my corn meal jello balls again, boilies, canned corn, feed corn soaked in water/ vanilla solution. I've even given the hair rig a go just in case they're being touchy. Still nada! Any advice?! I'm really not much of a bait fisherman anymore, but as a kid all my and my pop did was throw canned corn on a hook and chum with corn when river fishing for carp and that always did the job. I have been chumming plenty too. Thinking no bites has something to do with the spawn which should be about over?

Metanium thumb bar grip
I grabbed me a great condition Metanium '16 off eBay. I love the reel but found out it has one fault...the thumb bar rubber will pop off on you. I was lucky to not lose it the first time. Superglued back on but I can tell it's loose and will likely pop off again...superglue doesn't bond too well to rubber nor metal. Is epoxy a good idea?

Thoughts on Phenix Feather for jerkbaits?
They do have a 6'9" MH, sweet! And the fact that it's a 2 piece is an added bonus for me. Never even heard of Major Craft but I just ordered one anyway. Kind of surprised shipping price is included if it's coming straight from Japan ha, it's a steal if it works out.
-
Thoughts on Phenix Feather for jerkbaits?
Not able to find a ton of info on these rods out there. Looking at the 6'9" MH, it's quite difficult finding a light MH under 7' in the $150 range. Seems handle is longer than I'd like for a jerk rod.
-
Why are larger freshwater jerkbaits practically non existent?
All I'm really asking for are 6" jerkbaits! They barely exist! My setup allows me to simultaneously fish for bass, walleye and esox but I'm missing out on the esox because my baits just aren't big enough. Husky jerk is closest I can get to 6", but I really can't stand em because they have no weight transfer system and cast like crap. Husky jerk magnum is 6.25" but it's made for trolling. Lucky Craft has some 158s, but these fools know that they have the market corned and are charging $30 a piece for their garbage baits. I mean cmon, there's plenty of huge bass swimbaits out there, why not jerks?!

How to clean breaks on Casitas?
If by drum you're referring to a metal ring around the side plate, there is none. Pure plastic. I have 2 brakes on, 2 off. Nope, taking off side plate they're both engaging eachother fine.
-
How to clean breaks on Casitas?
My Shimano began to lose distance and seems to be making a bit of a whirring sound when casting. I pulled it apart, cleaned, oiled up, and even replaced spool bearing with a ceramic bearing. Still the same, no difference. I imagine it's related to the brakes but don't know how I can clean and oil them up. Don't know what kind of brake system they use but it's sure not centrifugal.

Handle nut for Shimano reel...
Yea I got it on there properly but I got a right handed nut instead of a left and the friggin handle came off again after reelin in a 23" walleye!! ? Obvious it unscrewed itself...Shimano sendin me the left handed nut.
-
Handle nut for Shimano reel...
Welp thankfully it was just the nut, I bet I cross-threaded last time I tried getting it back on. Still not sure how it could've come off by itself though. New one is snug as a bug. I guess $10 isn't bad considering what it would cost to get the reel repaired ?
-
Handle nut for Shimano reel...
Didn't lose either, I lost the star drag spring. Handle nut is what I believe is stripped. I still have the nut cap. @shackman Somebody told me I will probably need a new drive shaft as well. Sucks cuz I already ordered new handle nut but maybe I can call them tomorrow and have em add a shaft to my order. Tell me is changing the drive shaft difficult? There's easily close to 100 parts to this thing looking at the manual...hoping I don't have to completely take it apart to change shaft.

Handle nut for Shimano reel...
@bulldog1935 I was looking at the hedgehog handle nuts, but I'm not sure that the M7 will fit. Measuring the nut with my calipers, I got 10mm spanner size. @garroyo130 Just over a year old I believe. Thing is, I did purchase it from someone on FB and it was in like new condition. Guy said he just wasn't a fan of it.... Not sure if he would have had a reason to take the handle off on a new reel but I guess it's possible.

Handle nut for Shimano reel...
The handle nut. It will not stay tight on the shaft. Once it gets snug hand tightening, I use a wrench and it will just keep turning. I may have overtightened and stripped it last time I put it on. Question is, why did it pop off in the first place? Read that it shouldn't come loose without already having been removed and I never removed it.
-
Handle nut for Shimano reel...
Ya probably the case. Seems the draft shaft threading is messed up a little bit but not the part where the retainer nut screws onto. Any Amazon nuts I've searched for are not proper size. I guess I gotta drop $10 to Shimano for a silly nut.

Handle nut for Shimano reel...
Was fishing one day and handle came off my Curado MGL. Screwed with it for a bit and got it back on. A week or two later, fishing again and handle pops off again. This time lost star drag spring. Ordered a new spring, now I can't get the retainer nut to stay on. Must have stripped it somehow...even though it will screw on fine with the handle off I must have messed up a tiny bit of thread. Anyway, where can I get a new one besides shimano? Over $10 with shipping. Spanner size measures 10mm so that would equate to M6 nut...not finding anything else out there.

Why can't I get the line even on my baitcaster spool?!!
Yeeha that was it! I must have been gripping the line off to the right when spooling. Gripped rod a little higher and made sure to keep fingers directly in center while applying tension, now it's perfect. Looks like I could have fit at least another 25 yards of line on my spool too ?
-
Why can't I get the line even on my baitcaster spool?!!
I tie braid to center of spool and cover with a piece of electric tape. I make sure line guide is in the exact middle before reeling on new line. Still majority of line off to right side after spooling it up. I let out all the line, get line guide to the left side and reel. Majority of line still on right side!! I don't understand?! Curado 71 MGL.

Broke Lews rod, am I screwed?
Welp took a couple weeks but Lew's gave me a gift code for the original cost of the rod, $110. Only cost me $6 in tax to have a new one sent to me. I went for the 6'10" this time for a wee bit more power. Thanks Lew's for taking care of your customers! No more high sticking, screw carrying around a net ?
-
Broke Lews rod, am I screwed?
Because some fishing rod companies actually give a $hit about their customers. Fenwick I broke a year ago, they offered me 50% off a new rod. St. Croix gave me a whole new top for a 2 piece after I broke that. Whether it's my fault or not, I should not be forced to pay full price for a new rod when a 5 month old MH rod broke on a fish weighing no more than 7lbs. Plenty out there that have boat flipped heavier bass on lighter rods without issue. This is exactly what I wanted to hear, thanks. A fee replacement would be excellent because nobody wants to have to deal with shipping a rod back ?

Broke Lews rod, am I screwed?
My Lews KVD GC1 MH snapped into 3 pieces attempting to hoist a 28" pike onto shore. Yes perhaps I should be more careful with an IM8 rod but I wrestled a 40" musky and have ripped out tons of snags on this thing without issue. Can't even get thru to Lews, put on a super annoying hold for 5 minutes and leave voicemail and don't get called back. Are they going to even offer me a replacement under warranty, if I'm ever even able to speak with someone?

Curado 71XG MGL line capacity waaaaaaaaaay off
I'm supposed to be able to put 105 yards of 30lb braid on this spool. Spooled it up with some brand new .25mm braid, let all the line out in my back yard and measured. Came up to just about 40 yards. Not uncommon for me to dump the whole spool when casting heavier lures. What am I missing here?
