Shaving subscriptions
I was with Dollar Shave club for awhile. I had a subscription for their twin blades every month. I didn't like the cheap plastic handle. I upgraded to the 4 blades razors 4 cartridges every other month. The handle for those razors are much more substantial but it broke where the blade pivots after a few months. Handle costs $5 to replace. Same thing happened again after a few months so I switched to Harry's. With Harry's I have the 8 cartridges for $15 every 5 months. I can get close to a month's worth of shaves from 1 Harry's cartridge. The handle is excellent and the pivot is built into the cartridge not the handle.

Bait caster for bank fishing?
I take a spinning set up and a baitcasting setup with me when I go bank fishing. I use the spinning 90% of the time and the baitcaster stays in the car. It's hard but not impossible to throw some of the lighter presentations and baits I use with a baitcaster.

Best $75 to $100 spinning reel?
Kastking Sharky III (graphite) or Kastking Kodiak (aluminum) get my vote. Both are saltwater approved.

Huk
It is raining here and I am stuck at work.
-
Huk
I did as well until I caught a random YouTube video from the company called "How do you say our name?"
-
Huk
Huk (Pronounced "Hook") Great gear no doubt but I get a lot of stares and questions when I am wearing it. Most common, "What's H-U-K?" Spelling out every letter. Or "What's Huck" and the one that might be specific for me since I am a comic book fan "Why are you wearing a Hulk hat?" They see a phantom "L" there... Anyone else experience something similar?

Can't get hookset on senko!?
I agree. You can use Wacky Weedless if there is a lot of vegetation. Or you can downsize to a 1 or 1/0 hook and a 4" Senko.

Do all fishermen,
This is the truth. No lie. It is especially true in the Northeast as a 3.5 pound fish here on public waters is like a 10 pound fish down south. I don't lie about the fish I catch. After all who am I really fooling if I lie. I am proud of all my catches even the dinks.

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
Memorial day weekend was very productive for me. I am not one to take my kayak out on a holiday weekend so I used google maps to find local spots to bank fish. I was able to find a feeder canal by me that runs parallel to the Hudson River. There is a path between them and you can walk and fish the canal or the river. I caught my biggest Smallmouth Bass of the year there. 2.14 pounds. I also found a Rock Bass honey hole. All in all I was able to catch over 30 fish over the weekend.

How often do you guys get skunked?
Rarely. I follow a personal rule of take what the water gives you. Meaning, I might have gone fishing for Bass but if they are not biting I will go after whatever will (Pickerel, Catfish or Sunfish) Rarely getting skunked takes some work. Get to know the bodies of water you fish. Water temps, time of day that are productive, what fish are present. Don't be stubborn with your baits. Change them if nothing is biting them. Get a few confidence baits under your belt. Mine is a freefalling wacky rigged Yum Dinger (smaller the better) I can usually get a bite on that. When all else fails, dig up a worm and use a piece of it on a small hook. Bluegills love that. It can turn a skunk into a very productive fishing session.

Trilene XT
Big Game in 10# or 12# treated with KVD line and lure or Reel Snot is my choice for casting. The conditioners virtually eliminate the only real drawback of Big Game which is the line memory.

rocky bottom - stuck lures
T-rigged or "stupid" rigged tube. Without the exposed hook of a jig or ned rig, hang-ups on the bottom will be less frequent.

Best/most fun lures for dinks?
Lelands Trout Magnet Crank. It's a small 1/8 oz crankbait. I can be fished like a jerkbait. Very versatile and lots of species will hit it.

Anyone use the new Tatula LT spinning reel?
A 1000 size Tatula LT spinning reel is on my Father's day wish list.

Arbogast Buzz Plug
No luck this year on this bait. I actually lost the double hook in the back so I put a split ring and a treble hook on to replace it.

Getting Old
I'm 52 and this weekend's fishing trips were murder on my feet. Hiking to bank spots and fishing on uneven ground really took it's toll. I had to sit out Sunday to recover. For the most part I combat age by keeping my weight in check (staying under 200lbs), using my smartwatch to track my 10,000 steps a day goal and doing 22 pushups a night.

What is your go to tackle?
Finesse wide gap hooks and some kind of plastic stick bait in various sizes. Dingers for shallow waters, Senkos for deeper waters or waters with strong current.
-
If someone handed you a shimano stratic 4000..
I would put it on a Medium Heavy rod and go fishing for some Saltwater species like Fluke, Flounder and Bluefish. 4000 reel is kind of big for the freshwater finesse techniques I enjoy.

Pet Peeves
Another pet peeve of mine is pets... the trails around me that are good for bank fishing are also good for people to walk their dogs. I can’t tell you how many people do not have their pets on a leash and have no control of them. They run up, jump on me or sniff at my tackle bag. I am worried they are going to get a face full of hooks. I have had a dog jump in my car with his muddy paws before his owner could get control. When I got mad he said what’s the matter don’t you like dogs? I told him I love dogs it’s their owners I have a problem with.

Box vs Pack
I use a drawstring back sack when bank fishing. Pliers, snips, travel size sunscreen, first aid kit, Plano box filled with hooks, weights, etc, couple of packs of soft plastics and some lures all fit in it. I can wear it while walking and casting. Lately I have been wearing my Buck Multi-tool at my hip so it eliminates the need to carry the pliers and snips in the back sack. Makes it even lighter. I use this one most of the time. Has lots of pockets and pouches. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Under-Armour-Undeniable-Sack-Pack-Drawstring-Backpack-FREE-SHIPPING-1261954/132618703400?hash=item1ee0b0d228:m:mv183wUxJ0Gu5jSsuzw7S9A

Pet Peeves
What is up with that? Happens to me as well. Never understood it. My pet peeve is conscientious stupidity (knowing better but doing it anyway) while fishing boating or just life in general.

Minimalism...
I am a minimalist only in the sense of what I carry when I go fishing. Everything I take fits in a small drawstring backsack. I have lots and lots of stuff, tackle, rods, reels, etc to take but I find I do have favorites. The rest sit around as loaners for my son, relatives and friends. I like trying new lures but I always go back to my confidence baits.
