  1. What's your price range?
  2. I would say the same thing, but I have the problem of waiting. If I have the money for a new set up I get way to anxious. If you can wait though you can really stretch that dollar and save a lot of cash.
  3. In my opinion definitely go with a heavy rod, trust me those fish will find a way to get you into heavy cover. Better to be safe than sorry. Then I always go with a fast to extra fast because unless you are using a moving bait of any level you won't need a moderate or even a mod-fast. Try and find a 7'0"-7'4" Heavy, Fast Action Rod.
  4. Unfortunately that's what fishing has turned into... A huge hole in your pocket. For reels I would definitely look for a shimano citica 200e for your baitcasting set up. Try and search the market for those sometimes you can find them for around $80. And for a spinning reel I would go with a pflueger trion or a pflueger president (the trion is only $40), I have personally used both reels and think that they are for sure the best spinning reels for the price. As for rods this is where things get a bit pricey. For the rod though you should really go to a store and see what you like for around a $100 price range for both the casting and spinning. There are plenty of great rods around $100 that will fit your needs. If I was you i would look into a Abu Garcia Veritas, St. Croix Mojo Bass, or possibly a Duckett Ghost. There are also plenty of cheaper rods that are good that would work great it's up to you and what fits your needs because I have a hard time ordering a rod that I've ever felt. Hope that helps you make a decision.
  5. I've never heard of those rods so I'm assuming that they are quite old. In that case you should really upgrade your stuff. I have some suggestions on a new rod and reel. Are you trying to upgrade all of your gear or just one set up for $300?
  6. I'm no expert myself but being a fantastic company like St. Croix I feel like we could trust that the blanks are the same, or they could just be telling us what we want to hear which is very possible. But, there has to be a catch. Either way for the price of the St. Croix Mojo Bass it is a great deal for a rod.
  7. Well said, I will have to agree with you. Same rod, different name.
  8. A Citica 200E would be a great choice, also try checking out amazon for some great deals on Daiwa Tatulas.
  9. Now I'm really considering a Mojo Bass for the price. I really like Dobyns Warranty though but, I want that Helium NFC Blank so bad for some reason. I have a lot of thinking to do.
  10. Around $200, Casting, Flipping Rod, LMB's, and Midwest. @timsford
  11. I'm thinking of getting a rod in the future and not sure what type of rod to get. I was thinking of getting a Kistler Helium, a E6X, or a Avid X. What's your guy's opinion on this situation. Or possibly another rod suggestion other than those three.
