  1. Is there any situation where light would be too little? Why can’t I seem to find a light rod with an XF tip? Do I not want that? I’m trying to make it a do it all creeking rod, with the XF tip for finesse sensitivity.
  2. I typically have three types of water I fish: Small-medium sized rivers (50-75 yards across & 4-6’ deep,) small rivers/creeks (narrow and windy but still navigable by kayaks/canoes) and true creeks (inches deep with the occasional 1-2’ hole.) The brushy creeks I am describing are so shallow you can walk across them in most places. For the middle category, smaller rivers I use a 6’3” MLXF Legend Walleye which seems to be a pretty perfect fit. However, I’m wondering if this is too much rod for the little creek fish in the smaller ones which rarely get over 10-12” long and if a shorter UL setup might be more fun. What do you use in these little streams?
  3. Oh that’s a relief. I was pretty sure I’d read that the Nasci 2500 had adopted the T?
  4. I can’t seem to find definitively which of Shimano’s 1000 sized reels have the paddle style handle and which have the T? I greatly prefer the paddle as it fits comfortably between your thumb and index finger, never understood why the T has become the dominant design.
  5. How long would you go for a creek rod? I’m not talking small rivers, I’m talking like the crick running through your grandma’s backyard that is inches deep with the occasional 1-2 ft hole with a little smallie or rock bass hangin out.
  6. ?? I know, that’s why I’m asking if 1000 is smaller.....
  7. I’m looking for a good creeking reel to replace my Sahara 1000 which is the perfect size on a 5’ UL. Also, what is a good rod in the 5’ range to upgrade from a Triumph? I see the Legend line doesn’t go that small. Thx!
  8. I have a friend who has been making well regarded balsa cranks for years. I’m getting a blank glide I would like to get painted, you think he could handle it or am I better off shipping it off?
  9. Sorry I’m back, I thought I’d found my perfect solution in the Kistler KLX deep cranking/swimbait rod for chucking 1-3 oz swimbaits from a kayak but I just wasn’t entirely confident in it. This Irod Genesis III Swimbait Jr. gets a fair amount of attention here although I’ve read it leans more fast than moderate. Do I really need to buy a rod listed as “moderate” to be on the safe side with cases like this or is there plenty of parabolic bend in this rod? If not, would either of these be better options? One seems to be an upgraded version with a better blank and the other is simply billed as moderate rather than MF. 10. I’ve found that repeatedly casting these heftier baits (smaller swimbaits and glides) can be taxing on your joints. I’ve heard some say that the parabolic bend or a moderate/mod-fast rod makes it less straining over extended periods of time by acting as a sort of sling shot but wouldn’t a stiffer rod give you more leverage?
  11. What is a 1x vs 2x hook, how is that not referring to size?
