Will an 8 be overkill?

Looking at the Curado 150, stuck between regular & HG (or XG.) Slow gear ratio makes sense for deep cranking, but a lot of times I need to burn it back to get through a riffle or recast before getting blown out of a spot. How exactly does it work, is it true that the faster you reel the harder you are working for the same retrieve speed? What speed would you go with? Is 8 overkill?

Can I pair a 100-150 sized casting reel with a 7-7’2” rod for cranking or does it need to be shorter?
Yeah, and if anything with this presentation it makes sense to err on the lighter side of power.

You have very low standards for hooks, “outstanding” hooks should not bend out after one or two catches or be sensitive to pliers.

Interesting, wonder why they insist on using such garbage hooks on a $25 bait??

I was asking if the Expride was the 6’10” rod you have. For my cranking setup I want to throw KVD 1.5 + 2.5 size, 5/16-5/8 oz.

Expride?

I’m currently using a MHMF, it is very difficult to throw 3/8-1/2 oz 1.5 sized cranks on. Have you tried this? I plan on going Medium.

Nah they are ok for stock hooks and certainly better than the outbarbs but they are definitely not Gami or owner. I realize how sensitive this presentation is to even the most marginal weight or profile change so I weigh any hook or split ring replacement and only swap when something fails.

Interesting, so I should probably go with the moderate fast?

Yes they are stronger than the outbarbs, but they are still not nearly as strong as Gamakatsu and will eventually fail.

Which specs?

Are they not round bends?

Ahh so def stick w at least a 7’2” medium, what about between moderate & mod fast?

No as in 100-150 wouldn’t be too small?

I am putting together a cranking combo and want it to be able to cast 5/16-5/8 oz cranks as effortlessly as possible. I’m told the smaller the real the better to achieve this. I plan on buying a 7-7’2” carbon cranking rod, just wondering if those reel sizes would be too small?

Do most A Rigs have a longer center wire or are most equal length?
That could be, but you would think if it was an important feature that the leading brands would have it
-
Do most A Rigs have a longer center wire or are most equal length?
My question was why the leading manufacturers do not offer this configuration, not whether or not you use it with other brands.

Do most A Rigs have a longer center wire or are most equal length?
So then why do the leading brands, nor most of the manufacturers implement this?

Do most A Rigs have a longer center wire or are most equal length?
I noticed 6th Sense temporarily switched to equal length wires and due to overwhelming feedback returned to the longer center wire. I assumed that meant this was the industry standard, however I’ve been shopping for them now for a month or two and the leading brands - Hog Farmer & Picasso both have either equal length wire or 2 shorter up top (dummy rigs for BFL regulations.) Few if any I have found other than 6th Sense feature this longer center wire for a trailer bait. Which do you prefer and why? I realize this is probably a minuscule difference, but the perfectionist in me wants to get it right.

In your experience, do sunny skies trump warmer air temperatures for the winter smallmouth bite?
So only sun plays?

Have you experienced your line being tangled around the fish head and under the wires of the A-Rig?
So the smaller, narrower head on the Hog Farmer will not make a difference?

Have you experienced your line being tangled around the fish head and under the wires of the A-Rig?
I currently have the 6th sense models, and my line is constantly getting tangled around the head and under the wires which kinks the line. Are there any brands which do not do this or is that just unavoidable? It appears hog farmer has much narrower heads with tapered ends, shaped like a little football. Do they design it this way for this exact reason or is it still an issue?
