Total Scan Kayak Mount
@J Francho Nice! Looks like the ducer mounts right up. Obviously you have some knowledge on the topic. So, let me ask you a question...when you're pulling in to land, do you lift the arm? I'm only asking because I can't visualize how far forward the ducer will be. It seems like if it's out of my paddle stroke it will be pretty far forward and I'm not sure I can reach it. Thanks, - J

Total Scan Kayak Mount
Looking for suggestions/opinions on the best track mounted arm for the Total Scan transducer. Or, I've also seen the Berley Pro cover. Does anyone have any experience with the Berley Pro on anything besides a Hobie? And..go! Thanks, -J

ElIte-9 TI or Helix 7 GPS CHIRP SI G2N
@Fishguy I received the ad in the mail yesterday.

ElIte-9 TI or Helix 7 GPS CHIRP SI G2N
@Fishguy I believe the sale starts next Wed for the Lowrance.the whole flyer was kind of confusing. Some sections show the Black Friday sale while others indicate that there's a sale starting Wed. I'll send the wife Wed and if it's a no go, I'll be at BPS at 0200 for a 0500 opening on Friday morn. ? @12poundbass I went to Lowrance site and looked at the Elite-9 Ti w total Scan ducer and the Nav+ card and it did, indeed total out to $1069.

ElIte-9 TI or Helix 7 GPS CHIRP SI G2N
@Fishguy it's t BPS. The add says originally $1069.99 on sale for $599.97. Save $470. I posted it above.

ElIte-9 TI or Helix 7 GPS CHIRP SI G2N
@12poundbassOh, hell...just realized that I didn't list the finders. The Lowrance is an Elite-9 Ti with total Scan. The Helix is a CHIRP SI G2N. I'll be putting it on a kayak. The Lowrance goes on sale Wed and the Helix is a Black Friday sale.

ElIte-9 TI or Helix 7 GPS CHIRP SI G2N
Finally in the market for an SI finder and saw these 2 on sale on BPS $599 AND $549 respectively. Any thoughts on which one I shouldd shoot for? I like the idea of a 9" touch screen but other than that, I'm clueless. Thanks, -J

Marble Lake
Got an invite to my buddy's cottage for some fishing on Marble Lake. From what I've read here, it looks like it may be slow going. Any suggestions to ensure some sort of success? We're leaving after he gets off work (3rds) and heading up there so we probably won't be on the water till mid day and plan in fishing into the evening. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yakers what kayak do you run?
Picked up a SeaGhost 110 this spring. I don't think I'm qualified to list pros and cons since it's my first kayak. There are some things I've noticed about it that drive me nuts but all in all, I love it. It tracks well, is fast enough for me and was well priced for a yak with a rudder and transducer scupper. If I ever bought another kayak, I'd probably look at a Bonafide...and a trailer...lol.

Kayak Fish Finder Questions.
@Somd Fx4, the Sea Ghost has a transducer scupper and mounting bracket. I believe both Lowrance and Garmin mate up without issue. To power the finder, I'm installing a 12v battery and a 3 function panel...Volt Meter/USB Port/12v Plug all connected to a switch. I'm hoping it goes well...lol. I always get a little nervous when it comes to drilling holes in mah boat...lol

Kayak Fish Finder Questions.
Thanks, gents!! I think I'm going to go with the Striker 4+ CV. it had the features I'm looking for and it will allow me to get a new paddle and a few more accessories. @Somd Fx4, I picked up a Vibe Sea Ghost 110. Love it! Can't say enough about it. I don't have much SOT experience so my opinion isnt worth much but I'm happy with it. Again, thanks for the info! I'll post pics when she's installed!!

Show your ride...
Picked this up a few months ago based on a few suggestions here. I must say, I've been pretty pleased with it this far. She's a Vibe Seaghost 110. She's been dubbed the "Ginja Ninja"

Kayak Fish Finder Questions.
Well, I finally pulled the trigger on a yak and now I've been bitten by the bug. I want to buy a finder but not necessarily to "find" fish. I understand that SI is the way to go for a kayak and I don't want to deal with that. I worry that the transducer might be damaged in the skinny waters I encounter. I've also looked at track mounting but have read that it collects grass and weeds....seems like a pita to deal with. Anyway, I'm looking more to map the waters I fish and have temp/depth info. Most areas I fish are small inland lakes that aren't mapped. Grass lines and drop offs are more my concern in these areas. So, I'm looking at the Humminbird Helix 5 G2 Chirp Sonar/GPS Combo. Is this overkill for what I want to accomplish? Is there a more modestly priced finder with a similar function to Autochart Live? Any info you guys can provide would be great because, honestly, all this info has my head swimming!! Thanks!!

Abu Spinning Rods
Ok, looking to put together a Abu rod and reel spinning combo. I'm thinking the SX 30 on a 7' med/fast Abu rod. Problem.is, I don't know what Abu rod to get. Any suggestions? Thanks, -J

Decisions, Decisions
@Stephen B, I can get a pretty good deal on Abu so I'm looking more toward them. @fishinfool, funny you should say that, I thought about the spinning reel after trying to fish ned rigs on casting gear this fall.

Decisions, Decisions
Well, it's that time of year again! ?. I'm looking to add a rod n reel to my line up. Problem is....I don't know what to get. I'm looking at a nice jerk / topwater casting combo but can't help but think I should get a spinning setup for finesse applications. Any suggestions to assist me in my decision? Thanks, - J

Let's Talk Yaks
Oh...that Vibe is nice, @bholtzinger14. I thought I'd looked at them but I'm thinking I must not have. Great features at an incredible price. I may have found my first kayak!!

Let's Talk Yaks
@flyfisher @68camaro I was looking at the Tarpon 100. Reviews indicate it's a great boat but when I go to Wilderness Systems' site, they don't indicate that it's a angling kayak. I've also looked at ACK and they sell it as a fishing kayak but they add accessory rails and rod holders so, I wasn't sure if it was actually a fishing kayak. I'll definitely look at Jackson Cruise. I've seen some great reviews but haven't really considered em. As for Vibe, I looked at a few of their boats but I believe I read some reviews that were unfavorable. At any rate, the 6-800 range is a starting point. My wife would like me to stay in that range but everything is negotiable...lol. thanks for the input. -J

Let's Talk Yaks
Thinking of purchasing a yak for next season. Looking for something in the 10' length for ease of storage. Would like to stay in the $6-800 range. Looking at the Perception Pescador Pro thus far. Any suggestions? Thanks, -J

Alberto vs Dbl Uni
Thanks for all the replies. The rod in question is a Mojo Bass. It doesn't state that the rod has micro guides but the last few are pretty small. I'm using 50# braid w a 12# flouro leader. It's most definitely the knot hitting the guides. With that said, is it even worth adding, say, an 18" leader? I did notice a marked improvement in hits but, ended up w a gut hook because I was working an overrun out when the fish took the bait. Again, thanks for the input. Tight lines, gents!! -J
