Ambassadeur 4600C
It's all I've used for bass fishing for awhile now.....The C4's while only having a 6.3.1 retrieve pick up a TON of line. And they don't have enough power for crank fishing IMO. I like the C3's for everything except jigs/worms in which case the C4 is nice because of the fast pick up....

Crankbait Line
The best ways to get bit here are to be ticking the weeds in natural lakes....I prefer a much faster action, even stiffer rod than most. Non only are they almost always stiffer, but they also have the power to rip a crank free. So I guess I prefer my sensitivity to be in the rod not line.

Crankbait Line
I use 10, 12 or 14lb Trilene XT. Depending on the lure, depth, time of year, etc. In northern natural lakes I don't think it matters what you use save for the diameter, and smooth flow OFF the reel. In the rivers around here, cranking wood is about the fastest way to put fish in the boat, and in the past I've had lots of abrasion problems with XT. I'll probably explore other options for this app? What's the most abrasion resistant line ya'll can think of?

IF YOU COULD HAVE ONLY ONE SPINNING ROD & REEL
I really like that Loomis has specific length and actions for different techniques....I just picked up the 6'10 shakey head rod. And paired that up with a Pflueger Supreme spinning reel.... If I had to chose only one rod though it would be the 7'4 bronzeback series rod. It would be perfect for tubes, which is what I plan to buy it for, but also for lots of other soft plastics. I may even pick up two of them one for tubes, and one for drop shotting... The Pflueger Supreme has the best combination of bearings, smoothness, drag, low weight, and line pick up than any other spinning reel out there.

Smallie book
I agree that the largemouth book is MUCH, MUCH better than the smallie book.

Crawfish seasonal movements?
Any info on spawning and movements of crawfish? Point me in some sort of direction.

Best and worst TV Shows...
I've liked in-fisherman since I was a kid, but it really took a down turn when the Lindners left. I LOVE Lindners Angling Edge. They are great guys and the Lindners are probably the best multi-species fisherman ever. The whole lot. If you are from up north, and you fish for more than just bass I can't see how these aren't the favorites. I spent years fishing for nothing but Muskie...

question about stren superbraid
i've used stren superbraid and spiderwire stealth for musky fishing 80lb. Even with "soft" musky rods i had several break offs with this size. the stren seemed to have fewer, but the diameter was bigger. It seems to be a less tightly wound braid as it also absorbed more water than the spiderwire, which didn't pick up any. Casting distance is hard to say. The stren I used on 2-5 oz jerkbaits so casting distance wasn't a problem. not much help just a few littl tidbits of info to add

Ambassadeur Record Series
as a new poster maybe I shouldn't be so opinionated in my first post. BUT, it is my opinion that there is NO better reel on the market than the garcia products. I have several reels, that were musky fished for over a decade and work flawlessly still. Just clean and lube regularly and I've replaced the pawl on a couple. Now if a reel holds up to that kind of punishment for that long an ambassedeur as a bass reel should last forever. FWIW I have owned several different reels, and these are the only ones that have been completely trouble free. I did have one 4600 c3 that had a sticky brake adjustment knob, that caused some frustration but got er' taken care of. I'm curious how the 4600 C5 with magnetic brake works. I'm thinking I might pick up a couple of those this year for fishing weightless senkos, and for casting lighter cranks in open water into the wind. All my others are either 4600 C4's or C3's.
