The most productive and easy to fish presentation for kids is the Slider worm fished on a Spider Slider head. Another plus is they can cast and reel which keeps their interest.

Way2Slow, the mechanic that fixed mine called the replaced part a rectifier. It may be a voltage regulator. It is water cooled and located at the top rear of the motor. When it gets overheated, it fails. The tach usually stops working when it starts to fail. I had two replaced because of overheating when fishing in the Florida vegetation/mud and the vegetation on the Potomac River. The engines are carburated OMC Fastrike.

My casting rig for weightless wacky rigging Trick worms is a 6' 6"medium heavy H&H rod with a Chronarch. It works fine when faced with BIG bass, timber, and hydrilla.

I wouldn't even use that hook for wacky rigging. I don't care for the eye position.

Did you get the motor overheated with vegetation blockage at the water pickup? Did your tach stop working or acted weird? Been there, done that, my mechanic said I needed a rectifier replacement. That was done and it worked great.

Chatterbaits or their knockoffs work everywhere. A similar constructed model is the one on the *** site. The components are of higher quality.

Dan, I use some BPS rods that have the accessory balancers, I have the BPS balancers that slip on rod butts, and I make some using plastic tips for chairs with weights formed from lead egg sinkers. The lead takes up less space in the balancers than the brass ones. I have a couple rods that are balanced by inserting and epoxing a tungsten Carolina Rig weight in the blank by drilling thru the butt. I have a custom baitcaster that had the balancing weight added to the blank butt before the handle was finished. I ordered it to have a 45 degree tip rise from horizonal with an Ambassadeur 4600C3 while palming it. I also have some rods that are not balanced as the components are light enough to give just little tip weight which I prefer for casting and retrieving horizonal baits (spinnerbaits, crankbaits, etc)

If you use Seafoam all the time, a de-carboning procedure will not be necessary with an additional chemical or a more concentrated mix of Seafoam. I use it all the time and for all small engines and outboards.

Dan, no it doesn't make any sense if a reel is installed on the rod. The 8-14 oz. of reel on the reel seat will do most of the vibration dampening so any vibrations that reach the butt for a return trip will be minimal. An additional 1/2-2 ounces at the butt won't make any more difference than using different weight reels.

ghost, if you hold the rod at the foregrip during retrieve, then the reel weight will help with the balancing. Otherwise, the suggestions made by dodgeguy will be your solution. Dan, adding weight to the rod butt will not dampen the vibrations from the reel seat to the rod tip since you are not adding density to that part of the rod. It may if you have a tip guide attached to the butt and use the rod backwards.

SammyLee, flurocarbon line does transmit vibration better than nylon mono because it is denser and thus more sensitive.

You only other option for no/low stretch is a fused superline. Those have less stretch than the braids. The downside of those is fraying is more evident with age/use. Fireline Fused is the only one I can think of. Low/no stretch fluorocarbon line is a myth.

Lots of setups are like that. The cavitation is to allow for the motor to get up to higher rpms for optimum power as the boat gets on plane. All the small hub props do that unless a blow ring is installed on it. For an under powered boat or heavy boat it is the fastest way to get on plane and keep top end speed.

No, I haven't used the Mustad hooks. The Gamakatsu and Owner hooks work good enough for me and I know they are quality products. That is a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

BassChump, if you fish more than you ride around, your engine may not completely charge the starting battery. Most of the time I spend about 10 minutes riding to the first fishing location and may stay in that area just using the trolling motor for 5+ hours. With two sonar units operating and livewell pumps sometimes, the run time is not enough to recharge the battery when returning to the dock. Just starting the engine, battery power is used that may not be replinished on a short run.

The reels are not "rated" for any size line. It only shows the capacity in yards of how much regular 12# line it will hold. In higher pound test lines, it will hold less, in lower pound test lines, it will hold more.

endless, all the passes are for both lakes. The lake closes on Oct 12 until March. I have caught several 7#+ bass at Hunting Run and my largest this year is 6-2. The guy in the rental shack was suprised to see me there today since I usually don't fish on weekends. Dr. apportments messed up my weekday fishing this week. Raul, I also have a toothpaste size tube of FS454 that I bought after it was not included already applied in the package. I also have some worm packs that have the small tube in it for self application (which came out later). Yep, I'm old.

I fished Hunting Run on Friday 4th. and caught a bunch but mostly small ones. I'll probably go there tomorrow. It is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
