Lowrance Elite 7X Transducer
If you only use 200 kHz, it makes no difference which transducer you use.

Lowrance 4.0 Software Upgrade
You can improve the chart performance without updating the software. Just don't load the Navionics+ card up with data you don't use. Individually select each body of water you want coverage for and ONLY download those. Less data to process= faster processing.

Humminbird Unimap In Helix 5 Si Gps
Every dot and symbol is a waypoint. Most of them are blue dots since I have Waypoint Decluttering turned on. Every waypoint can be returned directly to. You don't do that with the position curser, you use the GoTo function to lead to a waypoint. When the postion curser is displayed the unit functions are paused like in the example. The line that leads to that curser starts on Lake Sidney Lanier in Georgia. That is the Default Simulator location. The location of the waypoints is in Virginia. Note the distance displayed at the top.

Humminbird Unimap In Helix 5 Si Gps
First thing to know is mapping is not GPS and GPS is not mapping. The unit will do all GPS functions (waypoints, routes, tracks) with no maps. Those function are saved directly to the unit's memory (waypoint library), not on any memory card. The built-in Uni-map has no locations with contours, it is basically a color background with some outlines of waters. The unit has one card slot. You can use either mapping software--(Lakemaster or Navionics) or you can put a blank card in to save screen shots and do recordings. A memory card is also used to copy the waypoint library to use in other units or in HumminbirdPC. This is a lake that had no mapping, not even an outline, before the Sonar Charts program which created the lake and contours using my recordings. I had over 75 waypoints without a map. Sonar will show stuff you want to save a waypoint for.

Yes, he did. He was using Humminbird when he came in third in the Classic that VanDam won in Louisanna, then Lowrance and now Humminbird ONIX.

That "trash" may be plankton that suspends at night and returns to the bottom during daylight. This is a early morning plankton column that was gone a few hours later:

Is Cover More Important Than Structure?
Structure is the bottom from the shore to the deepest depth. On structure you can have cover, breaks, breaklines, points, and humps. A qA weed edge is a break, a thermocline is a break. Ledges are breaks, dropoffs are breaks, Fish relate to noticable changes in depth and use them as highways just like you do to go from location to location unless they are relating to suspended food.

Structure?

Hds 10 Gen2 Vs Echomap 93Sv
Another con for the 93SV compared to the HDS 10==== the display is smaller.

Humminbird 998 Or 999
Both 998's are obsolete and are on close out sale. The 999 is the current model and will have a longer updateable lifetime.

Lake Master And Navionics Question
I use a AC/DC power source and extra unit power cords. I have 4 units on/near my desk now. The TV on the wall is connected to the unit on the right via a Humminbird Video cable.

Trolling Motor
The water depth has no bearing on the shaft length needed. It's the freeboard your boat has and the conditions you are likely to fish in. Great Lakes or big North/South lakes require a long shaft to keep the motor in the water if you can handle fishing in the big swells/waves/wakes. For most waters about 45"-50" is plenty.

Lake Master And Navionics Question
I do the in-home map viewing. The Navionics+ version is very handy.

Navionics Iphone App
Have you checked Nautical Charts and Sonar Charts at Kissimmee? I would assume some boaters contribute to the Sonar Charts program to correct any inaccurate data IF that area is accessable via boat. Sonar Charts does the same as AutoChartLive, just Navionics processes the sonar logs and it is shared.

Navionics Iphone App
Some Florida waters are HD surveyed by Navionics. The Kissimmee Chain of lakes. Harris Chain also. That pond known as Big O is one of them. You have to zoom in to get the HD contours.

Navionics Iphone App
Change the Depth Format to FEET instead of METERS. It's that setting to the right on the map. Navionics is an international mapping company, it has both formats with their products. The maps on the site is the whole world.

Navionics Iphone App
Exactly A lot (if not all) of digital map products purchase maps from other sources along with doing their own surveys. I know for sure that some of Navionics maps are scanned paper maps. I have personally surveyed some of them and had a HD contour map done with the Navionics Sonar Charts program. Another lake is a USGS outline that I surveyed to get a HD contour map created with Sonar Charts. That example is not a Navionics surveyed location. If it was, it would have 1' contours. It is from "other sources". Not only that the contour numbers are in meters instead of feet. Use the correct format and it will match the other map, just less contours. The only number I can make out is 6.1 meters and that is about 20'

I also have the App on a couple of Android smart phones and a couple of Android tablets.

Navionics Iphone App
Yes, IF you have GPS turned on. BUT you should have a charger hooked up when using GPS. I have a Bluetooth GPS antenna for my WiFI iPad and I can use the Navionics maps just like my sonar/GPS units. The WiFi/Cellular iPads have a GPS antenna.

The Helix series is new since about the first of December for some models, you won't see many reviews about them since there hasn't been much usage.

Line Diameter For Baitcasting Reels?
I sort of agree, but I use the 10# mono equivelent diameter superlines the most which are 50# rated.
