  1. I received an email from Gander Mountain on Sunday with the subject being "Liquidation Prices! Preparing for the new Gander Mountain. However, in the body of the email it says that all 126 locations nationwide will be going out of business.
  2. I ordered a replacement part for my airbrush last month and did not have any issues at all with CAS. They sent me a confirmation email within minutes of placing my order and I had the part 3 days later.
  3. I cannot stand jet skiers and people that simply loose their minds by thinking they own the lake, boat ramp, and fishing spot.
  4. When there is a lien on a title most people will pay the bank directly then pay the remainder to the seller if the price negotiated is more than pay off. Never hand over a check directly to the seller unless its a clear title. This will ensure you are protected from being ripped off.
  5. When it cut off was is sluggish under full throttle? Last year my motor cut off while I was on plane, similar to what you are stating. My problem was in the fuel line. The line wasn't keeping pressure and it was due to having a pin size hole in the primer bulb. If your engine is shutting off while on plane and you have ruled out your kill switch I would definitely check your primer bulb and fuel line for cracks/holes. Hopefully it is not something major causing you to lose total engine power.
  6. He isn't too far off the reservation in regards to his bottom line. NADA has this model listed between $8,500-9,800, without electronics. For 10,8 I'm pretty sure you could find a newer boat with the same bells and whistles. A guy in my fishing club just sold a 2004 TR186 loaded with 2 helix (7 and 9) for 10,5.
  7. I wouldn't buy a boat without having a compressions check and I definitely would not take the owners word that it's "Perfect". He is selling for a reason and you have to think about whether he is truthful about everything or not. If I was in your shoes I definitely would not be giving the benefit of the doubt, especially, when making a large purchase like this. If he is eager to sell and nothing is wrong with the boat I'm sure he would get a compressions check in order to seal the deal. If he refuses, then you know that the motor is not "Perfect". Just remember one key thing, anyone can say that it's "Perfect" and in their eyes it can be a "Perfect" piece of sh_ (POS).
  8. Welcome Tony. Thank you for standing watch. Semper Fidelis
  9. I have a TR186 and as long as you have a swing away tongue and lower the motor it will definitely fit a garage that is 24' deep. My garage is 21' deep and I have about 3" to spare.
  10. The best advise I could offer, in addition to what has already been stated, is look over your shoulder and physically watch what is going on behind you until you get the hang of it. Once you feel as though you are mastering loading/unloading then start using your mirrors. When I first started out I couldn't for the life of me use my mirrors. I would be all jacked up if I tried to back up without looking over my shoulder. One major thing you need to learn is the pivot point of your trailer. Some turn on a dime and others have a longer turn radius. By learning the pivot point it will help you with the over/under compensation. In regards to hitch receiver, I would make sure that the trailer, when hooked up, is as straight as possible. This will help out with maneuverability and safe trailering.
  11. For me it's using drop-shots and getting my jigs to skip a little farther.
  12. You will definitely hook into one on the Potomac, especially in Aquia Creek.
  13. Right now the Potomac has a minimum length limit of 15 inches until mid June. As far as hook restrictions, Maryland had a 3 hook limit; VA doesn't have a hook restriction. With that said, you have to make sure you are not in Maryland waterways if you rig up a standard A rig. I would highly recommend getting a map of the Potomac because you might think you are in VA waterways when you're actually in Maryland (VA waterways is less than 2 to 4 ft from the bank on the main channel in certain places). As far as hot spots go it is truly based on tidal conditions. If you're wanting to narrow it down to a handful of spots I would highly recommend Occoquan area and Aquia or Potomac Creek. This time of year on outgoing tide I like to fish Aquia creek. Incoming tide I will normally sit outside the mouth of the creeks (Aquia/Potomac) or shoot up north to Occoquan or up near the new MGM.
  14. Great piece of work. I would be afraid to throw it.
  15. I am trying to go against the old saying don't make the same mistake twice. I'm just trying to make that mistake 100+ more times.
  16. I started making my own jigs and spinnerbaits back in November and after seeing all the pictures on this forum of painted crankbaits I had to take my addition to the next level. Here are a few that I painted up this weekend. The one labeled crankbait2 happened by mistake but I believe turned out the best.
  17. If you want the easy route I don't see how you can go wrong with a rattle can if you plan on putting epoxy on it. I have used rustoleum before and it held up for a few trips(didn't use epoxy). If you won't more than one use out of it I would highly recommend using Devon epoxy after you paint (nail polish or rattle can).
  18. PM me if you need help. I work for Marine Corps Training and Education Command and can put you in contact with folks at Recruiting Command.
  19. I was out last week on the Rappahannock River just below the Rt 3 bridge in Fredericksburg. I had a little luck here and there on jerkbaits and 1/4 oz jigs. I had to cover a lot of water to find them.
  20. 2017 will be my third year fishing Big Bass Tour at Smith Mountain. I have a blast each year and always look forward to the next one. You don't need a fancy rig to land a big one. And all you need is for the sun to shine one good time.
  21. The ban only applies if your are on Federal land. I work on a Military installation and the only ban I have heard of so far is lead ammo can no longer be used. They try to cite environmental impacts as to the reason why. If the ban on lead lures applies to federal land only then it should not have any affect on small manufacturers unless their demographic is the federal pond jumpers.
  22. Former Marine.
  23. The only time I run into this problem is when the bait collar doesn't fill in all the way on a Do-It Tip Up mold. When this happens I will run a few rounds of lead through the mold without adding hooks to heat the mold up. If your mold is really hot check to make sure you are seating the hooks properly. If I have a hook shift prior to pouring it will block the collar causing a bad pour. Hope this helps.
  24. It depends on time of year and weather conditions. I do not fish from the bank so I can't give pointers for how and what to do. When I go out i try to cover a lot of water. I will try spinnerbaits, chatter baits, and cranks to cover a large area. I will wear docks/structure out with jigs and plastics. If that fails I will slow it down and throw just plastics. If there is a lot of cover I will pitch, flip, or skip a jig or plastics. Presentation is the key component from bank or a boat. You need to find out what they want. Keep trying different lures until they hit. Just remember one thing, what they hit today may not be the same tomorrow.
  25. You can keep your start up cost fairly low if you start out with one or two molds and a few skirt color combos. When I started out I spent a little under $300 to get started (this included personal protective equipment). As I was pricing everything out I was like I want this and this, oh and I think I need that. If you don't use a crawl, walk, run method it can get expensive first out the gate.
