Setting the hook on Trout
I am using a ML power rod, fast action spinning rod and reel. Would you suggest a Light power rod instead?

Setting the hook on Trout
Hi everyone, I have had some recent trouble while fishing for trout. I would be using a 1/4-1/2oz kastmaster while fishing for trout. Every time I would get a bit, I would fight it for 5 seconds and the trout would pop off. I know that trout have boney mouths, so is there a special way to set the hook, or any tips to help my keep these fish pinned?

Need help simplifying line choices
For the first setup, I would go 12-15lb fluro. I would also put spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and chatteraits on your first setup as long ans there 1/2oz and under. For your second setup, I would use 50-65lb braid. For your third setup, I would use 20-25lb mono. The reason why you use mono on big heavy swim baits instead of braid is that if you a backlash in the middle of your cast, the braid has a good chance of snapping since there is no line stretch. With mono, if you backlash, the line has enough stretch and wont break.

Finding a pattern
Hey guys, I was wondering how all of you guys create and form a pattern for bass fishing. What do you all look for when fishing, to possibly use a lure that will work well, or target a certain type of cover for a certain conditions. I do not have any fish finders, usually I am on shore or in a small aluminum boat.

Line tangled in baitcaster
I think what I am going to do is strip off all my line, and spool it up tighter. Any other tips to prevent line digging?

Line tangled in baitcaster
It happens after I get hung up, but also when I go for my first cast. Do you think I could use a different brand of line, but still keep my 30lb line?

Line tangled in baitcaster
So when I go to cast my bait, usually 1/2 oz-3/4 oz, my line sticks to other pieces of line. So in the middle of my cast, it just stops, then falls into the water. My line doesn't get a backlash, because I can pull my line out once and it comes undone. No knots of tangles.

Line tangled in baitcaster
Ok yes, that's what it is called. I am having a problem with braided line digging into itself when casting. Are there any other solutions to this problem?

Line tangled in baitcaster
I have recently had some problems with my bait caster. Whenever I go for a cast, about half way into it, my line gets all caught up and catches under the spool. It is like the line gets stuck to each other. My tension knob and break system is all on also. It is not a backlash, cause all I have to do is drop the line and it comes undone. Does anybody know what is happening, and is there a name for this? I have a KastKing royal legend with stealth spider wire 30lb. I don't have these problems with my fluro or mono bait casters.

Eating fish
When I eat fish, I make sure that there mercury content is not very high, and that the body of water I take it from is clean. Usually, I eat fish out of reservoirs, lakes, and streams. If the water is polluted, or there are pollutants around the body of water ex. a power plant I don't eat the fish. I also say, if I am not willing to swim in the water, I won't eat the fish.

soft plastic swimbaits
Having this setup would be good for using soft plastic swimbaits. The only thing of my concern would be if you are throwing this around heavy cover, but using it in sparse cover or open water should do just fine.

soft plastic swimbaits
What is your set up for topwater/ jerk rod? It will depend on what kind of swimbaits you are throwing, and if you have a weighted hook.

Favorite Topwater to throw
I like to throw the Strike King Sugar Buzz

Punching what do I need to know
The rod, reel, and line you are using is great for punching. I would recommend a 3/0 beefy flipping hook, rage craw(any creature bait that makes a lot of vibration), punch skirt to add bulkiness, heavy tungsten weight, and I usually use two bobber stops.

Moving Bait Line
It would depend, where will you be throwing these baits?
-
Moving Bait Line
IMO, 12-15 lb fluro is the best line to use for moving baits. You can throw crankbaits, spinnerbaits, chatrerbaits, soft plastic swimbait, swimjigs and anything else you can think of. The only thing I don't recommend is throwing it in heavy cover, but sparse cover or open water is good.

Crankbait setup - whats the best gear ratio?
For me, I usually like a reel from 6:6:1-7:1:1 gear ratio.

I never used braid?
I would go with 20lb PP to a 10lb fluro leader. I use the fg knot to connect them. My leader size is usually 3-6 ft long.

The Notorius Whopper Plopper
IMO, it's a legendary bait. You can fish it where you would fish a buzzbait. When you fish it with a steady retrieve, then pause it, it is bouyant enough to stay a float and bass will demolish it. It leaves a nice bubble trail and has a very unique sound in he water. I would definetly try out the black or translucent blue. IDK what he colors are called.

Swinging jighead
I like to use it when I have a hard rocky bottom. Ideal depths can be from 4-50 feet, more or less. I like to slow drag it and sometimes pop it once in a while. Usally I like to throw it in post frontal conditions when the pressure is high. So bright blue bird skies after a rain storm would be ideal, but you can fish it anywhere you want.

Favorite Rainbow Trout Lure For Lakes
