Has anybody had experience with the Shimano Bantam Cuardo CU 201. My grandpa recently gave me this reel and I don't know how good it is. I assume it is a good reel because it is a Shimano Cuardo, but I have never used one. Any thoughts on how it preforms or what to use it for?

I like to use soft plastic swimbaits, texas rigs, shakey heads, jigs, mojo rig,and spinnerbaits in the condition of the lake you described.

Hey, I was wondering if any of y'all know of any good bass fishing spots besides the delta. I am planing to go fishing around the Bay Area, and hit up some lakes and ponds. Does anybody know of any good places to bass fish? If you do, where do you go, what do you use, and is there a certain spot at this body of water you usually go to?

Some other swimbait a I like to throw besides a Keitech is a Jackall Rythm Wave. It has great action in the water. If you are going to throw swimbait around cover, you should probably switch up to 10lb broad. I would also invest into some belly weights EWG swimbait hooks. The size of the swimbait really depends on how big the shad are that the bass are feeding on.

IMO, I like to use the caffeine shad. I have had more luck with it overall. After a few twitches, letting it sink, the thinner to thicker tail has a subtle swimming action that really triggers those fish.

I like to use the FG knot. It is an extremely strong and thin knot. I have not had any problems with it. As long as you tie it correctly, you should be fine.

IMO, I like to use 15lb flurocarbon. Any brand should do, but since you are on a budget, going with Berkeley Trilene 100% fluorocarbon should do you good. I have found that I can throw chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, squarebills,medium divers, jerkbaits, softplastic swimbaits, and smaller swimbaits on a 6:6:1, medium action rod with 15lb fluro on it. Flurocarbon doesn't have to much of a tenedency to stretch as much as mono, but when fishing cranks with exposed hooks, you shouldn't have to worry to much about the line stretch with fluorocarbon. For rod and reel set up, what you have should be fine if you are on a budget. What weight spinnerbait and chatterbaits are you throwing on your rod?
