  1. So I started bass fishing earlier this year and one of the hot topics I researched was which knots to learn. I came across a website (can't remember what it was though) and it recommend "three knots all fisherman should know." They were: 1) Palomar Knot 2) Improved Clinch Knot 3) Arbor Knot So I have a few questions about this: Most importantly, is this good advice? I had an older fisherman I work with tell me the best knot was the one that gave you the most confidence. Are there other "beginner" knots I should learn as s newbie?
  2. Being rather new to bass fishing, I would say that I learned I have a lot to learn. Road Warrior had posted on my introductory thread about some things to try if you're not catching fish and I decided that this was the best place for me to pick up during Spring 2017. I also learned to really appreciate the beauty of the local lakes and surrounding areas. I think that is sometimes overlooked.
  3. Hey all, Started fishing this spring for the first time and continued all the way up until now. I hear all about, and read about, winter fishing but I have no idea where to get started as far as tackle and gear. What do you all recommend? I'll be shore fishing as I can't afford a boat yet. Should I wear a bib and parka? I see these advertised as "go to" winter gear. As far as tackle goes, I hear that suspending jerk baits with a slow presentation are a good place to begin, but I don't know much beyond that. Thanks for any replies!
  4. Thanks for all the greetings! I'm looking forward to my stay.
  5. Hey everyone! Just making my introduction. I'm a regular 25 year old dude, I guess. I got out of the Army in February and decided that I needed a new hobby so I took up fishing. I'm still pretty new to it and despite having been several times this year, I didn't catch much. However, I learned something new every time I was out on the water and I believe that is what counts for a beginner. One of my favorite places to fish is the Green River Lake here in Kentucky. I'm hoping to discover new places to fish and lots of knowledge while here on the forums.
