  1. Brandon Palaniuk is putting in work for my fantasy team. He's my top guy right now. In fact, I think he's just about all I have left. KVD didn't do well, which I think surprised a lot of people, and I wish John Crews could bring score up from the other day. He's doing well I think, for right now. Guess we'll just have to keep waiting and watching.
  2. 4 years in the Army (2012-2016), OEF vet.
  3. I don't only buy one brand of anything, really. Although, I feel more closely associated with certain clothing brands than I do anything in my gear set up. As someone who tans faster than is probably scientifically normal, I need some lightweight, UPF protection style shirts that are going to block the sun.
  4. I'll down some water on the hot days, that just feels mandatory for me. As far as snacks go, I grab water is going to be most filling without feeling a full blown meal. Usually that consists of some Special K bars or breakfast snack bars. Oh, and beef jerky.
  5. Just did my picks. Good luck to everyone.
  6. Just signed up. I have no idea what I'm doing and that's how I like to live my life. Lets have some fun.
  7. This has been grave dug so hard its now a zombie.
  8. I'm not seeing it on their website, but maybe I'm looking at a different one? http://www.ascend-kayaks.com/model-list.cfm#sit-in Give that a glance.
  9. I carry two rods, but my local lake has a two rods per person limit. Although, I never see it enforced. :/ There are dudes out there catfishing all the time with around 5 rods...
  10. Updated my location. I have some cold water opportunities around here, but truthfully, I won't go because I barely have any idea what I'm doing when the water is warm
  11. Normally I am a fan of the winter months, as I enjoy the peace and quiet it brings. Basking in some wintery solitude has always been my "thing". But this year, 2017, is going to be different. I am so ready to get out on the water already! I ordered some 5" Senkos, and 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG hooks (at Road Warrior's recommendation) and two extra spinning rods. I just want to go catch some fish already.
  12. I think there is a difference between "patience" and "determination". I am much more determined to do something than I am patient, and that is not always a good thing.
  13. Santa, (my wife), got me the Cabela's Alaskan Guide Filet Knife. She has a lot of confidence in me and wants me to catch some catfish for her, she said. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Alaskan-Guide-Fillet-Knife-by-Buck-Knives-reg/746191.uts?productVariantId=1636585&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=BingPLA&WT.z_mc_id1=02564398&rid=20&gclid=CMj2iPrBj9ECFcd6gQodhYAB7g&gclsrc=ds
  14. Well that theory got debunked rather quick. I guess he's just saying wrong?
  15. Well that makes perfect sense! Super easy to understand. Thanks for that. P.S. Didn't realize Palomar was pronounced "polymer". Who knew?
  16. As a newbie to bass fishing, I wish someone would have told me sooner that at this stage I shouldn't make every fishing trip about catching as many fish as possible, but about learning something new each time. It's much easier for me to grow as a fisherman with this mindset.
  17. What exactly do you mean by "do not let the line cross itself"?
  18. Ahh, OK, I see. The Finger Trap did the trick for me. Thanks for the input!
  19. Road Warrior, the Pitzen knot looks like the clinch knot (or is it improved clinch knot?) to me. Are these the same thing with slight variations I'm just not seeing?
  20. So many great replies! Thank you all for the information you provided. Here's what I got out of this: 1) Continue taking your time 2) Palomar is good, but use the Trilene or Uni-knot for starters (Palomar is difficult with treble hooks) 3) Arbor is good for tying line to a spool 4) Later on, learn line-to-line knots and some loop knots (double-uni, Lefty's Loop, etc) Am I missing anything gents?
  21. Haha. No worries. Thanks for the clarification. I had already been doing that and for a few seconds I was nervous I was doing something wrong!
  22. I'll give this a shot: 1. Never give up 2. Learn how to tie a few knots from heart (improved clinch knot, arbor knot, etc) 3. Catch a 5lb bass 4. Keep a fishing journal detailing weather conditions/time/where I fished 5. Get a baitcaster 6. Learn to use the baitcaster 7. Go fishing with my wife, my brother, brother-in-law 8. Learn to fish a jig properly 9. Learn how to tie a few rigs form heart (Carolina rig, Texas rig, etc) 10. Love my time on the water.
  23. It could be I'm just misunderstanding you, but I thought you were supposed to lubricate or wet the knot before you cinch it down. Or is this kind of thing for another type of knot?
  24. I've used the Palomar and I haven't had any slippage or breaks at the knot. If I get hung up on some rocks, well, that's another story entirely.
  25. I have some 8lb test and 10lb test mono on my spinning gear. That's pretty much it. I didn't want to overload myself too soon so I just stuck with the basics.
