  1. SAM's Club sold a pair that I use to have that a couple of small magnet at the frame temple held another lens exactly over the first. YODO's are another solution and under $20 that go over your RX. https://www.amazon.com/Glasses-Sunglasses-Polarized-Lenses-Women/dp/B01M07GYMC/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1509674521&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=safety+glasses+that+fit+over+glasses&psc=1
  2. My lowermost bunk on the left side of my trailer constantly tries to roll up when loading the boat. The boat is a ProCraft 185 DC PRO, with a marine group LLC trailer that came with the boat. I've tried adjusting the bunks with the boat off the trailer and the problem continues. My plan is to take four jack stands and a couple of floor jacks to raise the boat slightly while I make some bunk adjustments. Any advice other than don't get any part of my body between the bunk and the hull? Is it possible that I've just got a loose bunk and if I come on wrong at all it tries to roll?
  3. I use the one from Academy for $4.99. I use a 10" piece of old swim noodle to keep my line wrapped on. Not above throwing it overboard to mark a spot as well. The secret is to keep your line tight as the knocker slides down your line and give your line slack right when the knocker hits the lure. The more over the lure you can get the easier it comes loose.
  4. I like Stren clear blue fluorescent on most things, shows up really well under a UV light at night. Fluorocarbon is good other than the expense and the memory. It's just not worth the difference to me.
  5. I just picked up a Lews MH2-300 spinning for skipping docks. So far I love it.
  6. I tend to hang them up a lot because of where I throw them. Don't lose very many because of a plug knocker. A lure retriever/plug knocker is the best $4.99 investment I have ever made.
  7. I have had several rods go over, the majority were rescued. I keep a large treble hook wrapped with lead rope in the tackle box for that purpose. LOL, I don't know how many I've closed rod boxes or doors on, or snapped unhanging a lure. Getting fish out of heavy cover takes a large toll as well. The replacement accidental insurance that some stores offer is a wonderful thing.
  8. ABU Garcia Revo SX is in that price range and a good reel.
  9. I use a 7'3" Duckett Ghost H/F when fishing a jig. In a 1/4 mile stretch of shoreline fishing with a jig, I may pitch, flip, skip, or cast to hit the spots I think may hold fish. I love the sensitivity and weight of the Ghost. I put the extended two-year warranty on them when I purchase at BPS and fish the hell out of them. When I have to use the warranty I spend another $20 and the 2-year warranty starts over. I've had a couple get changed out over the years mostly for damage I caused. The weight and sensitivity of a Duckett Ghost is hard to beat for the money.
  10. LOL, Not even going to reply, It's the only polite thing to do.
  11. Hard to tell by the picture but it looks awfully small. It'd hard to even keep baitfish alive in a small pond. If it needs rain to have water in it, I would guess you're wasting your time fishing it.
  12. Tight lines. You get slack and a fish will get rid of a lure no matter how good your rod, reel or tackle.
  13. There are so many different techniques to bass fish with, Many times the bite just goes to a technique you or your buddy is better at. Usually, people have techniques they are comfortable with and that's what they want to fish. I was stationed there in the military for 4 years and recruited for 3 years out of Palatka just south of there. You are moving to an area that has some of the best bass fishing in the world. There are numerous bass clubs there, not only will the club introduce you to a lot of other anglers but will help you learn the area. Whether you own a boat or not, a bass club is a great way to go when moving to a new area.
  14. Lots of options. I use an inexpensive Berkley, it was like $10 at Wally. Holds 60 packs of plastics and is the same size as Plano trays. If I'm fishing as a co-angler the Berkley bag and a couple of trays in a backpack cover a lot of techniques. If I'm in my boat, it is small enough that it fits really well in storage compartments.
  15. PCB's are more harmful to you than frogs. I live next to Logan Martin. Monsanto killed the possibility of any good fish reports years ago with everything they were dumping. Most states have an area biologist, nothing wrong with calling him and seeing what he thinks.
  16. If I'm in doubt I set the hook. I was skipping tubes under docks Sunday and saw the line jump on the fall. I set it hard and the rod doubled over under a solid load, then nothing, those are the ones I hate.
  17. Welcome, you have some great fishing in your area.
  18. There are a couple around Ocala, FL. Silver Springs is one, Salt Run is another. We lived in Interlachen for several years just North of Ocala. It was fun to go swim in the springs, 72 degree crystal clear water in August. In February the bass go on bed and it’s like sight fishing in a bath tub. Small white lizards worked well, they wouldn't hit it but they would pick it up to move it off their bed if you got it in the right spot. It’s not as easy as it might sound, but it is a lot of fun. I would think that the locations of most springs are known by now. The crystal clear water and constant water temperatures are very noticeable.
  19. Lew's Speed Spool LFS Series Low-Profil Baitcast Reel 7.5:1, or Abu Garcia Revo SX Baitcast Reel - RVO3 SX-HS 7.1:1, both good reels for the money.
  20. Hey Doelman, Thanks for the info. I couldn't even find shad Saturday night, and Tuesday they were everywhere.
  21. Tuesday night the bite turned on. Water temp was 88.7 degrees, wind 4 mph out of the NW, everything else was basically the same conditions. We had both a direction shift, and a wind speed reduction. I've never put a lot of thought into wind direction and the bite. Normally it's other things driving when I can fish besides the wind. Could the wind have caused the bite to improve?
  22. I will usually not fish a profile for over 30 minutes, an hour at most if I'm not getting bites. I'm just as bad with deer hunting, if I'm not seeing deer, I move. I have talked to people that have been on the same profile for three days without catching or shooting antyhing. I don't know how they do it. I quit when I stop enjoying it.
  23. Your lure choices look good. Rogue is a good producer here, and a green pumpkin shaky head is the go to here. I might throw in a white spinnerbait with tandem silver willows in case I need to go hunting. Alabama Power Shorelines has a free app that shows you the turbine schedule on the dams for all the coosa river lakes, the bite tends to be better when they are pulling water.
  24. The Coast Guard requirements take care of what you have to have. I would also recommend a depth finder and a hand held spot light. If you’re going to fish by yourself get an auto inflate life vest that floats you face up, and hook the kill lanyard to it before you start the engine. Tie down straps for the rear when trailering, and some way to keep the motor off the hydraulics when trailering.
  25. I had a Skeeter SD 80 with a 70 Yamaha on it that I liked a lot. Would run right at 50 with two people. Fished all up and down the St John's with it. I probably would not reccomend it for a big water boat. How rough does it get on the Delta?
